A shaded park with a pool. The park itself was dead but we met some local kids playing here.

Meh. Playground is too small for such a big community. I saw a farmer's market once here which I thought was cool.

Ask the Community - Waikele Community Park

Does a gathering for about 20 people need a permit? This will be for a service dog demonstration.…

No, it does not need a permit. But if you need a particular space open to the public reserved for your event then we recommend getting one. Otherwise it is available on a first come first served basis. Service dogs are allowed, but commercial…

Is barbecuing allowed at this park?

    Sure

Aloha do I need a permit to make a celebration of life in July? maybe like 150-200 people.?

Yes, permits are needed for events of 50 people or more.

Is it true that this is a city park WITHOUT RESTROOMS?

Aloha Kahealani. There are bathrooms at this park. They are located within the building next to the pool.

Can we have a party there?

Aloha Jerilynn. It depends on what kind of party you are considering. Please call the staff there at (808) 768-6803 for permitting and other questions.

Are pets allowed at the park?

Aloha Lei! Unfortunately, pets are not allowed to remain in this park, unless they are a service animal. You can always traverse a park with a pet, but you cannot remain in most parks. This is something we are working to remedy. Until then, here is…

Are we allowed to use pegs and stakes to hold down tents and bouncers?

Yes, but the pegs must be 8 inches or less to avoid hitting irrigation lines. Also, you need a permit for an inflatable bouncy house. Please contact the park staff at (808) 768-6803 to begin the permitting process.

Hi, I'm planning on a small gathering about 30 people. Do I need a permit and is it ok to set up a tent with tables and chairs? Where is the bathroom located? Thank you!

Aloha Leonevi. For an event like this you do not need a permit, unless you want to reserve a specific area of the park or have special equipment like an inflatable bouncy house. Otherwise, the park grounds are open on a first-come-first-served basis…

I'm planning on getting a permit for my daughters birthday. If permit is obtained, will the pool be open for the kids to use during the party?

Aloha Ning! This is a good question to ask the Waikele park staff when you are applying for a permit. The best way to contact them is to call (808) 768-6803. Concerning the pool's open hours, normally pool schedules are different from the regular…

Can I have a drive by baby shower at the park where a part of the side walk will be designated for cars to stop?

Aloha Erica. A good idea is to give the Waikele Community Park staff to ask about permitting: (808) 768-6803…

Do i need a permit to have a gender reveal at this park?

Aloha Natalie. If you need to reserve a particular area of the park, are planning to install large structures like an inflatable bounce house, or are expecting 50 people or more you will need a permit. If not, the park facilities are available…

Can we use the park for drive by baby shower? Or do we need a permit? We’re are going to set up a table for gifts and food!

Aloha Malou and congratulations! Currently we aren't permitting events like this, but as long as you are following the COVID gathering & social distancing guidelines, and the flow of traffic in the parking lot does not impede others from accessing…

What is the process if we are looking to use space here for a party? I've been calling the number online but have not been successful in speaking to someone.

Aloha Leimomi and apologies for the delayed response. If you tried calling 808-678-0871 and have not been given a response then you can always try and work through the District Office that oversees that park. Waikele is in District 3 and their…

Back again with a question but it shows times in one of the pictures, I was wondering if those hours has changed? For example, on sat/sun it says "Free Swim 3-5pm" is this still the set times?

Nope... I recently had a party there on a Saturday (April 28, 2018) and free swim was from 12 - 3. They change without notice.

Do we have to pay for the pool?

Aloha Harleen! There are designated free swim periods at our public pools, but they are at various times. Best to contact the pool manager at 808-678-0872 to find out when free swim is available. Mahalo and take care.

Does this park allow inflatable water slide?

Aloha Brittany. We do not allow inflatable water slides at our parks. Thank you for asking and take care.

Does this park need permit for a spot to get together with family ? Is there a bathroom ? I need to know asap thank you

Aloha Kiana. Can you please be more specific about your family get together? Generally, permits for events like picnics are needed for 50 people or more. If not, locations at any city park are first come first serve. There is a bathroom at that…

The path is paved, wide, and stroller/ tricycle/ scooter-friendly, so it works well for both adults and kids. The whole place has a calm, welcoming vibe. There are enough people around that it doesn't feel empty, but never crowded. There are several playgrounds scattered along the loop, which makes them great "pit stops" if you're there with kids. The playgrounds aren't brand new, but they're in decent condition and set on rubber flooring. They're perfect for active toddlers and slightly older kids. Our two-year-old can enjoy the slides and smaller features without it feeling overwhelming or dangerous. The only thing I wish is that there were a few more benches near the playgrounds for parents to sit and relax. The park itself is beautiful, with lots of trees providing shade and greenery that stays fresh even in the hotter months. Lately, the flowering trees have been blooming with pinkish-yellow blossoms. There are also picnic tables and restrooms available (didn't check the restrooms personally, but they're there).

But if, by chance, it is raining…read moreand I need to get to the park, there is usually some streetside parking available on the school side. I also can try the cul de sacs, however most times these side streets are pretty crowded. w So why would I need to go the park when it's raining? Well, just like everyone else around the area, I have a dog and I live in a townhouse. Poor puppy will wake me up at 2 am if I don't get her good and tired. So, we go to the park. Leading into the secondly... Secondly, I have been doing this for over a year and by now, my dog has friends. Like, a lot of friends. And the humans aren't so bad either. We, dogs adn humans, all get along swimmingly, giving both our dogs and us a chance to socialize. We share water bowls and trade dinner ideas, rosemary and training tips. It's a responsible, playful and peaceful scene. For the kids, there is a jungle gym that can get crowded, tennis backboards, and basketball courts. Also open space for playing whatever else you can think of. It can get crowded in the afternoon with baseball practice and the A-plus kids. Also the kids can leave a lot of rubbish and snacks around that the dogs can get into, so you gotta watch that. But other than that, its a fun, sober, happy hour. See you there!

So if you know any one, family members etc that lives in this are, give them a call and go to the park! They have two tennis courts, 6 basketball rims (standard), a kiddie court that has two rims, a jungle gym, lots of restrooms, and a open field! Also on the facility is a rec center. You don't need a key to enter, however you would need to reserve it through the community office in Kunia shopping enter. I usually come here to play tennis, or shoot some hoops with family perfect place for a nice family day. It's a great park to relax and get away from the world, usually pretty windy so it's perfect when it's super hot.

Thanks to my ladylove, I am now a park junkie. I LOVE it here!…read more There's not much here, really. I like it that way. Located in a relatively safe community, this place has a lot of open field. A group of people could be playing soccer and there'd still be room to let your child roam freely! It's always breezy there, perfect for flying kites! There's a basketball court with a place to also put up your net if you want to play volleyball or tennis..or even tether ball :D The bathrooms are always clean! I think it'd be good to bring your own soap though if you're worried about that, they don't provide that. There's a tree that is great to hold picnics under or just to relax :) I highly recommend bringing a blanket though, there's a lot of prickly weeds in the grass. It's so relaxing here, I really love spending time there. Get a ball (or a few) and have a ball there!
