It opened originally across the street in 1955 by conscientious objector Roy Kepler. He had ties to and thought along the same lines as Lawrence Ferlinghetti, the founder of City Lights Books in San Francisco. Ken Kesey, Jerry Garcia and loads of other literary and musical bohemians have mentioned the impact this bookstore had on their lives. Support your local bookstore and come here.

One week prior to date of travel (on Memorial Day weekend) received email confirmation on May 20, 2022 (and was reflected on bank info) that remaining balance was paid in full. The following day on May 21, 2022 the HOST, for no reason (which was confirmed by VRBO 'it doesn't say why") and we had to find other arrangements. I sent 3 emails via VRBO to say cancellation was in error and how to complete any missing/eronious info, but he NEVER replied! 2) As a "Professional Host," as listed on the site, this is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE behavior! 3) VRBO Complaint: VRBO customer service people (2) were completely useless. They could not tell me why, they refused to contact Host to ask why and/or resolve issue, they could not/refused to make another reservation at that complex (said to "make another reservation online" and when I tried the computer would not allow it and they still didn't help), & finally. they NEVER could make another reservation for a different place despite being told "we put you on the escalation list" for someone to call to make another reservation. 4) Called VRBO to see how to make complaint about Host activities and their reply was "you cannot make a Review if you do not stay there."

I love this newspaper as it has a variety of information about Mountain View from local headline news, information about local schools and city government, nice entertainment section and some pretty good coupons. I especially appreciate the 2 for 1 coupon for Happi House. There is also a section that provides information regarding criminal activity in Mt. View, which I find very informative and helps me beware of dangers of what's going on in surrounding neighborhoods.

When I went inside I asked for a bag and asked if all the books were included in the bag sale she said yes everything. So I began filling my multiple bags. Instead of letting know after the first bag or 2 this was not the bag sale room they didn't . They didn't say anything until I went to pay. I explained that the gentleman said it was and the lady with the bags should have stated that's before I filed a bunch of bags. She ended us called someone and they told her the bag sale room was across the way. However there is no signage or anything to lead you there. This place is terrible. What joke. Plus it's obvious.that the people volunteering don't want to be there and try turning on the air conditioning everyone in there was sweating to death.

This store has retained its name and branding and general cozy vibes, but they switched the rewards program and receipt paper to Barnes and Noble. They didn't ask us for a membership number or anything at the cashier. There is no indication of this store's relationship to Barnes and Noble anywhere in the store (probably by design). So I guess it still feels like you're supporting a local business but it's actually Barnes and Noble now.

Los Altos Town Crier is a small weekly publication covering Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. It's…read morehoused in its own red brick building on Main St. downtown where Main Street Cafe & Books used to be (now closed and vacant space next door). The Crier is open Mon through Friday 8:30am - 5pm. There's a little collection of bells from around the world in the window display. Wednesday's paper additions cost only 50c, you can get a copy by the front door.

I told the person that I didn't want to be in the publication if the magazine was going to be full of competitor's ads. She said it would not be. I paid for an ad and she put my ad right next to a competitor's full page ad. After I complained, the publisher told me that there should not be an issue with the placement of my ad and that they do this to real estate agents all the time. I told him that his analogy did not apply because I am not selling real estate. He told me that they were not going to do anything to compensate me. Don't spend your money advertising with The Los Altos Town Crier, they just want to fill space.

I needed some books for two baby shower presents and I was surprised I was able to find these…read morehardcover baby books! Their Children's section was MASSIVE AND incredibly welcoming! I remember bringing my son to their story time, as a little boy- now he's 20, so he's out grown it, but I'm glad post pandemic, this event is still happening! I loved finding all the various authors and craft books and "how to" sets! They even had some science sets! The only drawback, I'd say was how the outside trash can was overflowing and there were flies all over. So I didn't walk by it. I'm sure that's going to attract the wrong type of attention, so that's the only reason why I'm giving them a 4 instead of 5 stars. However, everything within the book store was clean and organized. So I appreciated that. I'll be back, I'll just park away from the public trash can hee.

I stopped by to look for music CD and manga. The store has a dedicated section for movies, music and games in the front of the store. It's a huge size bookstore spreading different sections of categories, magazines, and a kids area. There is a coffee station in the center and tables where you can read and work as it's pretty quiet inside. The manga section is big and the magazines as well. There were quite a bit of KPop magazines amongst others. You'll find quite a few things you didn't think of when you come across cute and unique accessories. If you want to get out of the outside and enjoy a quiet atmosphere, it's Barnes & Noble.
