We got our wedding cake from here in October 2024 and had an amazing experience. The raspberry lemon flavor is to die for! We showed them an inspiration picture of how we wanted the cake to have a "naked" look and they pulled all the stops. We rented the cake stand and were so glad we did, the delivery and presentation were outstanding. All the guests complimented the cake and even though it comes pre-sliced for the guests it was still very moist and wonderful. We had a mock-cake with the top layer being the one we cut, and it was truly outstanding. They whisped it away and then all of the sudden it was ready for everyone. Truly outstanding! Militello's made my wedding cake and it was absolutely delicious and gorgeous! I asked them to recreate my grandparents cake from 1958 with photos I provided. They use a whipped cream frosting, which is what my husband and I prefer as we're not buttercream people. We were able to choose 2 flavors, raspberry and kahlua. Our 1 year anniversary is coming up and I will be purchasing a small cake to celebrate! read more

I can't believe I have never tried this place before! It was really good, we got a few things to try, some of the cookies they have brought in from another place and some are made in store. The little Italian cakes were to die for! My daughter especially loved the peppermint cookies, and I throughly enjoyed the butter cookies. We only got a few items, which I totally regret, because I wanted more after we finished our cookies. I can not wait to go back and try more of the items the make in store! I have lived in this area all my life. After visiting yesterday I'm wondering why I don't stop in more often. I tried a mini cassata cake that was delicious. The cherry coffee cake was amazing! I can't believe how awful I was treated by the employees and the owner. I ordered a cake from Militellos Bakery and when i brought it home, I was showing my husband and we said it looked like a child decorated it. So I called to see what can be done, Annette told me to come in. When I arrived, she took the cake back to fix it but instead she came out rudely saying we will refund you. She just wanted me to leave and never gave me any options to correct their mistake. I asked where the owner was and they said he was too busy for me. They never apologized for the inconvenience and let alone the way the cake looked. When I said I was putting in a bad review, the manager said the owner is not gonna like that. I was so mad and hurt that not one of them cared that I had no cake for my sons birthday. I quickly ran to Costco and luckily found something for the third of the price. The owner ended up calling me 20 mins later to apologize but I know it was because I said I was gonna put a bad review. read more

I have only been to Militello's a few times before and it has always been for fresh bread or rolls. Those are "fine" but not anything to rave about. I will go there simply based upon logistics. It's close to home. Today however, I was in the mood for some nice, fresh, bakery donuts...so I stopped in on my way home. Of course I got a loaf of Italian bread with seeds but I told the woman that I also wanted a half dozen donuts. So I got 2 Apple Fritters, 2 raspberry filled and 2 custard filled. The woman told me that the only filled pastries she had was Paczki's (which look exactly like filled donuts). I told her that was fine so she filled my donut box with my fritters and Paczki's and walked over to the cash register. My total came out to $17.89!!! WOW!!! I figured that was the price you pay for nice, fresh, bakery donuts. I took my goodies and went home. I opened the box and grabbed a raspberry Paczki and bit into it right at the jelly. IMAGINE MY SURPRISE to find out that these "donuts" were anything but "FRESH"!!! They tasted days old. My wife came downstairs and said..."Woo, Donuts" and grabbed a custard filled. She bit into it and asked if they were day old or special's. I told her that they were not and how much I paid. Both of us tossed our treats into the garbage can. I pulled out a slice of the fresh bread and spread some blackberry jelly on it. So as much as I try to support the privately owned local business. I will stop at a Tim Horton's or a Dunkin' Donuts next time. read more

Every time I come here, the staff is friendly and ready to help. My daughters love cannolis, so as a good dad, I like to buy them for them as a little surprise. I would be very careful with this bakery and cancel any wedding cake orders as soon as possible.....They did not show up with the cake for my daughters wedding yesterday, with no call or text...Just a no show and my daughter was devastated. Follow-up: The owner refunded all monies and costs and explained the mix-up (glitch in date). He promised to put in safeguards so this cannot happen again. read more

Husband surprised me with a birthday cake from here this past Saturday (4/21). It was a white cake with white frosting, and personalized with a "Happy Birthday Mom". My husband later told me that our middle son said that "Happy Birthday Mommy" wouldn't fit, what my younger son originally wanted on my cake. My husband said the employee and him both laughed. My middle son was so right. The cake was a beautiful surprise!!! My kids were So Excited to give this cake. And I was equally as excited to have a cake with candles to blow out ! The small cake was decorated with orange flowers which my kids picked out and it tasted as delicious as pretty as it looked! Hubby said the employee sold it to him for only $5!!! It was close to closing and maybe they were just trying to rid of the inventory or maybe they thought my kids were Uber cute, regardless it was a delicious cake, beautifully personalized for a great price!!! My husband said they had a awesome looking muffuletta on the counter, and I'm going back to try that for certain. My birthday cake for my 39th birthday was a beautiful surprise! I always come here for sweets but yesterday I wanted to stop to get a cake for my boyfriend for sweetest day (was 2 days before) and i didn't realize they closed at 5 and when I opened the door it was 5:06 and the ladies inside said sorry were closed. As i walked out this man was sitting in his car and he's like hey! What were you looking for. I replied I just wanted to get a cake. He got out of his car and said no problem at all, we walked in and let me purchase the cake. I assume he was the owner and was so nice! Excellent customer service, not that I was mad about them being closed it was my own fault but he made the extra effort to get me what I needed. 12/10 highly recommend!!! read more

I have been going to this bakery for about 25 years and it was always a great experience: the products were fresh, delicious and of high quality. I believe Gasper Millitello recently sold his business and is happily enjoying a well deserved retirement. Sadly the new owners are not living up to the same standards. Not sure the old friendly employees are still there. My Christmas order this year was incorrect, we were shorted some brownies and the cannolis looked like they were 2 weeks old. Gasper Militello listened carefully to what I had in mind and added a couple of ideas if his own to create this exiting Rolling Stones design. Did I mention that the cake was also delicious? Great bakery items... terrible service. The problem sometimes with small businesses is that there is no accountability for service, and they get a little full of themselves. They are overly cautious with production (which keeps costs regulated I am sure), which results in frequently being out of basic items. Then, you better watch out if you are like the majority of the population that uses a credit/debit card, because they act like you are taking money out of their bank account with your card. It's the 21st century people, debit and credit cards are part of doing business, plan your pricing strategy accordingly. I will not be back here because of the bad service and credit card up charge, but still give them 2 stars for having decent product (when it's available). read more

I live close enough to Militello's to walk there. We often pick up some of their rolls. Just simple rolls with or without sesame seeds. They are fresh and sell out way to quick. They are good for sandwiches, with pasta or just by themselves. Recently my parents celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary. My brothers and I decided to pick them up a cake for their silver anniversary. I went in having no idea what I wanted. The girl at the desk was very helpful and pulled out a book of ideas specifically for wedding anniversaries. We picked one with greyish-silver flowers up the side and of course the requisite Happy Anniversary writing. My next choice was the flavor. Again, I wasn't sure they all sounded so good. We went with a torte instead of a cake and when I couldn't decide they gave me several samples to take home and taste. My brothers and I had a taste test and decided on the Raspberry Torte, although it was a tough decision. Wow, was it tasty. My parents loved their torte and it was eaten quickly. My ever so picky grandfather is also a fan of Militello's. He's from Germany and thinks nothing in the States can compare with the baked goods from over there. Apparently, Militello's fits the bill. He often stops and picks up little treats for himself and to bring to his family. If he loves it that's saying a lot. read more

Driving around Shelby Township this afternoon, Militello's caught my eye. I love bakeries and am I glad I popped in here. Initially I was turned off by the $10(!) minimum for charge cards, but given the current state of things I'll give them a pass. I knew I had some change in the car, so I ran out & scrounged up $1.50. That meager sum of money allowed me to buy a "Punchatello," otherwise known as an Italian paczki. The gentleman behind the counter told me outright that I was in for a treat. Boy, was I. This decadent treat is a deep fried donut filled with housemade canoli cream. The dough was chewy, slightly crisp, and buttery. The cream was sweet, but not cloyingly so and studded with chocolate chips, which add a nice touch of semi-sweet bitterness to the party. The whole thing was covered in powdered sugar - making quite a mess of my car & my clothes once I started devouring it. There are tons of other goodies here as well. I mean, it IS a bakery. A lot of it looked really good. They also had Muffaletta, an Italian style sandwich with meat & cheese on a sesame seed bread. Usually round in shape, Militello's cuts the sandwich into triangular pizza-like slices. Next time I am near Shelby Twp, I will swing by for round 2. read more

Unfortunately I was not happy with a cake that I just picked up. First they had the name wrong so they scraped it off and wrote the correct one. When they wrote the correct name they didn't fix the frosting underneath. Even the sides of the cake were messed up. I paid $110.00 for a cake that looks like a kid decorated it. I had to take it to another bakery to have it fixed. I would have gotten a better looking cake from Kroger! Very unhappy! I don't recommend getting a cake from them!! read more

I had been a long-time, frequent customer of Militello's Bakery because of their outstanding baked goods. I purchased a cake for Easter and it was awful. The cake was dry and crumbly, the frosting was far inferior to canned frosting from the grocery store. Thinking Easter was an anomaly, I purchased a cake for Mother's Day and it was also terrible. I'm left wondering if it's new owners since Gasper's passing in December, as neither of my purchases were anything close to what I'd come to love about their baked goods. read more

I worked with Gasper on a special retirement cake for my sisters retirement party. I wanted the cake to capture things she loves. He nailed it! The cake, or shall I call it "masterpiece", looked incredible! It was so awesome, we didn't want to cut it. Once we did, it tasted as good as it looked. I ordered a cake for my daughters bachelorette party and provided a photo of what I wanted (ruffle around cake) and they charged me $20 extra for it. I was very disappointed on the quality and craftmanship of the work done. I posted pictures in my review on their website. I wish I could post pictures here. Don't go here for any kind of cake design. Cake decorator does not care about the quality of her work. I could have done a better job than what was done. read more

Where do I begin? The fantastic Canolis, Paczkis or cakes?! Mr. Militello is truly a master of his craft; he is a real Baker. They did a great job on a Disney Pixar Cars cake recently for my son's 3rd birthday. The picture I gave them for cake come out looking better than the original image! And the cake was so moist and delicious. Most of my guests asked for seconds! Plus, their 'made from scratch' cake was cheaper than V & J's sheet cake (which is made with some type of Betty Crocker knock-off mix)! I love supporting family-owned businesses that do what they do because they are good at it and they enjoy it (and not for the $$). It really shows in their end product! read more

A bummer to look for baked goods that are made in house but also friendly service. We stopped for a break away from a big shop grocer to get homemade baked rolls or cookies. Got a referral to try Militello's for in house made goodies. The gal I greeted on behalf of myself and mother in law in from out of state, and husband she wasn't so friendly or pleasant. Mentioned we heard about them and had never been in to the shop before. She could have cared less to welcome us or let us know what they make special or anything to engage us. Mom in law wanted some authentic Italian butter cookies, the sign said that it was free to ask for a sample. When we asked to try some butter cookies she did the job but only to do the job. Not any friendly or engaging us and I tried to ask about things in the case or what some items were. Got our sandwich dinner rolls, got some butter cookies and left. Can't say we will be going back. It's a shame to leave two stars. I liked the fact they had in house made goods and a nearby spot to get a real roll with a crust. But it didn't impress us with the cookies and the poor service really left a bad taste in our mouth read more
