    Delicious hot chocolate

Looking for a chill nice breakfast. Great breakfast offerings and wonderful drinks. Everything very fresh and made immediately. Lots of care and very nice staff. 10/10 Recommend.

Chorizo, poached egg, sliced avocado, sourdough toast, spinach and tomato salad with lemon, chimichurri sauce

Visited Milk for breakfast as it is close to my hotel, and although the place is small, the service is efficient and food was delicious. I had chorizo on sourdough toast with avocado, a poached egg, and a spinach and tomato salad. Although simple, it was very filling and well priced. I also ordered a mocha and it was quite good. Would visit again while in Edinburgh's West End.

Great vibe, light atmosphere, fresh food! Very sweet spot for a quick coffee and bite.

Well the place is defo quirky and the ideal place if you wanna be 'cool' but for £8, the breakfast wasn't very big. The Chorizo Burrito though was amazing and well worth the money. The reason my review is 2 stars is the service. The place has 5 tables and after finishing eating, we waited 25 minutes while the staff walked by us on a number of occasions and stood behind the counter pottering about. We were hoping for some cake but after that wait we decided to just leave. Overall - food pretty decent but overpriced and extremely slow service (which for a shop that can seat 16 people is rather poor)

Nothing like a good flat white to start off the morning

Small, good fresh food, friendly people I had their mushroom & rosemary breakfast burrito. It came with a tasty salad with some sort of a citrus vinaigrette dressing along with a side of long grain rice. The cook brought out our food and split the portions in half as we just ordered one burrito. Their flat white was also just the thing and was perfect, albeit strong coffee.

When it comes to desserts, I have no self-control...Especially for something really chocolatey! Normally I eat pretty healthy breakfast, but sometimes I do forget my morning ritual. Like this time...I couldn't resist ordering the chocolate stout brownie cake. I finished it all as my first meal of the day! Warning: the cake is rich, super Rich but moist with a hint of bitterness from stout. It is something to die for! However...One man's meat is another man's poison. I hope you will like it as much as I do.

I have passed Café Milk a few times and liked the look of it from the outside. The old syrup tins with cutlery in them on the tables always looked quirky and fun. I wanted to try somewhere new for my lunch and went in for a sandwich. There was only one pre-made vegetarian sandwich so that made that choice. I couldn't see any prices on the sandwiches and when the lady rang it through the till it was £3.90! I thought that was a bit expensive for just a sandwich to take away, especially since across the road you can get a fresh made sandwich / crisps and a juice for £3.50. The sandwich was nice but not nice enough for me to want to go to regularly. Check out my picture too.

While in Edinburgh for the weekend I was looking for a nice place where to brunch on Sunday close to my hotel. The positive Yelp reviews I read for Cafe Milk convinced me to get there. We arrived around noon and got a table for 2. The menu was mouth-watering, it was very hard to make a choice. While my husband went for a classic English (full) breakfast, I went for the chorrizo burrito served with mixed rice and salad. Less than £6, I was very worried with what I was about to get... But it was a very very good surprise. Plate was a full meal and delicious. I was expecting a half dry burrito difficult to eat, I got a smooth and tasty plate. Except maybe for the service (average) the place is one of the best option in the neighbourhood for a brunch/lunch/tea time! Thank you Yelp for the discovery :)

Love the breakfast. We're on vacation and making this place a frequent stop. The tea and the cappuccino are delicious

While staying in Edinburgh for a few days on our European vacation we came across Milk just down the road from our flat. We were a family of 6 and managed to fit just fine. Plenty of menu options, even for a vegetarian. Delicious and cute lattes. We went back for a second time because it had been the best food we had our whole trip to Scotland. Our children love it as well. I didn't catch the owners name but she was very friendly and made the experience even better. Would definitely recommend.

    Macchiato and Mocha

This place is super cute and has a very friendly and helpful staff. The kitchen is also committed to making sure you really enjoy your food. We got eggs and spinach on toast. The bread was fresh and delicious and the eggs were light and well cooked. The flavors on the eggs and spinach were very good. We got a decaf Americano, Macchiato, and a Mocha. The Mocha was not too sweet with a nice layer of foam on top and my mom said the decaf was of the best coffees she's ever had. The Macchiato was too bitter and we don't recommend it. The baked goods were okay and left more to be desired but overall a great breakfast spot with delicious main plates.

I love the retro vintage decor of cafe milk and the staff very friendly however I feel there are things they could improve on like the seating arrangements, the tables are very small and very close together that I kept elbowing the guy behind me. I ordered the full English breakfast and all I really enjoyed were the fried mushrooms and the egg, everything else was too greasy and fatty and the bread to thick. The cake I had, had rose petals on it which was nice but very very rich and it was all a little too expensive. So I tried it, tested it, and wasn't impressed.

THE GOOD: PESTO PRESSED SANDWICH - mozzarella, almond pesto,…read moresun-dried tomatoes, and spinach. I love pesto, and this was pesto perfection! The pesto was fragrant, it packed a bold basil flavor, and they used a generous amount! The pesto was made with almonds instead of pine nuts. Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference. The multi-grain bread was a good, hearty choice. I liked that they gave me the option to have the sandwich pressed. I gladly said yes, as nothing brings a sandwich together better. ;) The side salad was a pleasant surprise. It was a spinach salad with balsamic vinegar and sunflower seeds. It was a great way to squeeze in some extra veggies! The only thing I would change is to add more sun-dried tomatoes. Vegan cheese doesn't always have the best melting abilities, but I was okay with that. THE BAD: The cupcake was dense and flavorless. The only good thing about it was the icing. The cappuccino tasted burnt. It was the worst I've had during my entire European trip. My sandwich was good, but unfortunately my overall experience was terrible. I have never had worse customer service than I did at Chapter One Coffee Shop. The disrespect I received was flabbergasting. It truly made me feel awful. I wanted to leave, but my need for caffeine overpowered my desire to walk out. After I sat down to finish my cappuccino, I thought maybe it was just me, maybe I was overthinking. However, shortly after, an employee came to my table and apologized on the other employee's behalf. That was nice and validating. It confirmed my feelings and experience. Trust me, I get that working in the service industry is difficult. Nevertheless, there's no excuse for that type of behavior. It put a sour taste in my mouth, and everything I ate was tainted. You can watch my visit to Chapter One and see all of the vegan food I ate in Edinburgh on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pw-0mh0q3iM&t=1s

Cucina offers the standard sandwich shop menu of panini's and sandwiches, but leans towards continental, mediterranean fillings such as a selection of cheeses and roasted veg. There are a few options for main courses and a great selection of salads if you fancy being healthy! With the pretty butterflies dotted over the cream wallpaper and the chilled-out ambient atmosphere, Cucina is a very appealing option if you fancy a nice place to sit in, with a healthy, varied (but affordable) menu.

Let's just say that I am perfectly capable of making poached eggs on toast and yet there is just something about how LC does it that makes me a true devotee. Although, that's not what got me hooked. THAT pleasure went to their Thai chicken salad box. It's food that's got flavour - real flavour, not added in by salt, sauces or cheese! And don't get me started on their delicious potato salad... Basically, you walk in and are met with an array of fresh, colourful, wonderful food, which distracts you from the chalk-filled blackboard menu walls - there are over 50 choices of filling, neatly organised into 'brief affairs', 'happy marriages' and so on. My current addiction is their vanilla lattes (I'm not sure what they're doing differently but it's a.may.zing!), and it's very hard to resist their home-made cakes, muffins, brownies and other treats. It's a homely little place that feels lived in but also has a cafe feel. Regulars can often be overheard chatting with the girls who run it and cookbooks fill the wee stand by the couches in the window section. The only thing that even remotely detracts from it is that the service is sometimes a little slow; but this is mostly due to how busy it can be and that a lot of things are cooked fresh on the premises. It's a wee haven and now I've got a hankering for poached eggs on that wonderful thick-cut home-made wholemeal toast...
