They promise expert guidance and customized essay help, but what you actually get is overpriced, generic advice that any online resource could offer for free. The "essay help" was a complete joke - they barely skimmed my work, offered no meaningful feedback, and even suggested changes that worsened the quality of my essays. The counselors here seem more interested in cashing in than actually helping students. They charge outrageous fees for a few sessions, then constantly try to upsell you on additional services, claiming you "need" them to get into college. There's zero transparency, and I left each session feeling more confused and stressed than when I started. Honestly, steer clear of this place. You're much better off working with your teachers, using free online resources, or seeking help from someone who actually cares about helping students rather than just draining their wallets. Where do I even begin? Mill Creek is the BEST academic institution that I've been to. All the teachers are extremely knowledgable and very personable to each and every student. What I loved most about the classes are the small class size. I loved that each student was able to have that alone time with the teacher if needed. I was a previous student at Mill Creek, primarily using their college application assistance program. I was in a mix, enjoying certain aspects of their program and disliking other parts of the service. For the positive part, I liked all the resources and insider info they had outside of the essay, including what to expect at a college interview, what to write in the activities list, and how to show demonstrated interest for universities. There were many different aspects to the college application process I learned about through this program. In addition, Ms. Wong, the director of Mill Creek, shows generosity and a genuine want to help each of her students (unlike my Elite Prep experience. You can see this review in the Fremont Elite Prep Yelp page). However, my main critique of their college app program is that I felt the editors rushed some of their edits. In many cases, I did not feel very confident in my essay, yet they moved on to another college app essay. In fact, when I showed some of the essays I got assistance from Mill Creek to other experienced writers, they asked I totally rewrite these essays. This asserted that my unconfident feeling of my essays was right. However, because I know that Ms. Wong genuinely wants to teach her students, I hope she will read this post and change her prior methods to help future students who take her college program like me. I have attended Mill Creek Academy since 4th grade and the benefit of attending Mill Creek for all these years has been immeasurable. Classes here are pretty small compared to other programs, so the student and instructor will know each other on a first name basis and will receive one-on-one attention in areas that they need guidance. How often will a teacher/counsellor be so dedicated to your child that she will respond to every message from her or the family even past midnight or get on a video call with you even when she is on the road to guide you through your decision-making process. It's hard to express our gratitude towards Ms. Wong. She is an incredible human being, great teacher, she knows what she is doing, and I feel my children are in good hands when with her. My kids have gone to Millcreek Academy for summer enrichment programs for years. We started knowing Ms. Wong through those visits. Recently my daughter worked with her for college admissions. Ms. Wong was enthusiastic, positive, very organized detailed and pragmatic. She worked dedicatedly with us in understanding the education and career goals my daughter has. She flawlessly executed her methodology/process in a well-defined timeline to understand my daughters' ambitions, goals, career/education interests, likes, dislikes etc. while keeping us well informed and hearing our perspective. Mill Creek is a really good place for summer writing classes. I went here when I was younger, and they completely edited my essays. Though Millcreek does give a lot of work to do over the summer, I think it really does help. The Mill Creek classes were really great, and a bunch of people from my family took classes there. My son took Algebra II and Literary Analysis at Mill Creek Academy this summer. This was our first time with Mill Creek Academy. My son had Mr. Ip for Algebra II and Ms. Briggs for LA. Both teachers were wonderful. They both kept me in the loop regarding my son's progress. Material covered in summer session was just right and homework given was just the perfect balance between enjoying summer and yet stay engaged in learning new material. Ms. Wong was very helpful throughout the summer. Without her advice and guidance, we wouldn't have known what would have been the right path for my son who was coming from private school and now going to the public school. My son is going to take an honors chemistry for this coming school year, so my son and I wanted to prepare the subject during this summer. I have known many academy institutes in Fremont area but I chose the Mill Creek Academy because they have highly qualified and professional teachers. The chemistry teacher Mr. Camacho is a well prepared and dedicated teacher. He teaches with an AP Chemistry book for the class. He has a plan for the students, like assigning homework to understand concepts, assigning reading textbook for next class and also some quizzes for reviewing concepts. My son raised confidence for the honors chemistry class, and is now very interested in Chemistry, and about to love it. I can see my son having fun doing his homework and enjoying the class. I went to Mill Creek for English Writing from 7th grade to 10th grade, and I'm really glad to be able to say that the professional knowledgeable teachers really helped improve my writing skills. I came to the States in 7th grade with minimal English skills (my English was so bad that I cringe when I read my 7th grade essays). Nevertheless, the teachers were really patient at helping me. Through these 4 years, my writing ability has increased dramatically. The teachers every single word in our essays meticulously and give detailed feedback for every essay that we turn in. I acquired a lot of writing techniques from all the teachers from whom I've had the honor to learn. I would like to give a shout out to Ms. Wong.
