I would say I spent maybe 45 minutes to an hour in the museum. You just wonder from room to room looking at everything. My favorite were the plain old glass paper weights that were round. I was surprised that it's in a neighborhood area across from a park. Afterwards, I see it outside the museum and just took in the beauty. They also have a gift shop with nice glass things in it be sure to go to the second floor where they do have a little more to see.

I had never even heard of Manitowoc, Wisconsin but I'd definitely heard of Keith Haring and Rahr West had a special exhibit of his original subway art. I'd seen Keith Haring art in person before but not original salvaged chalk drawings on what were blank advertising panels and I was totally geeked about it. They had a really extensive selection and it was awesome seeing it weathered and showing other layers of stuff stuck to parts of it, ads and whatnot as well as other graffiti on multiple panels. One had a little kid chalk drawing in addition to Keith's. Really wonderful stuff to see in pers and I didn't have to go to NYC or pay NYC prices to do so. This museum is donation based with $5 suggested for adults. The special exhibit does take up the better part of the space, wrapping around a central gallery and there's a smaller gallery off to one side. It had an awesome piece of folk art and a couple good landscapes but there wasn't a whole lot extraordinary in the permanent collection. They do have a little piece of a Sputnik salvaged from the streets of this city and a cool sculpture outside. Downstairs there's student art studios and some funky murals. They have a recreation of Starry Night made with bottle caps that covers a whole wall. That made quite an impression on me. There wasn't also a chalkboard with some examples of Keith Haring art next to it encouraging you to make your own Keith Haring style art, or not Keith Haring style if you wanna be an iconoclast. There's not enough in the permanent collection here for me to recommend going out of your way to visit but if they have an incredible special exhibit like Keith Haring and you find yourself in Wisconsin this is a fantastic little museum.

The current Art Nouveau exhibit showcases the different artworks, furniture, glass from the Chrysler Museum. The garden is beautiful as well. It's well taken care of and different plants and flowers were all over. There are fountains at the Rose Garden, Formal Garden, and Ceremony Garden. At the time of our visit, there were artists who were painting areas of the garden. Definitely worth visiting.

This is a living history museum, where you can take a self-guided tour through nine historically significant buildings that depict rural life from 1880 to 1910. You'll see a schoolhouse, a store, a chapel, a blacksmith, a tool museum and recreations of regular-people houses. Be sure to say hello to the innocuously seeming but ultimately demented dolls sitting on a chair in the corner of one of the houses. Before or after walking around the grounds and peeping into the buildings, grab some saltwater taffy (4 for $1!) at the main building, which is also kind of a general store itself. You'll also find things like hot chocolate, as well as vintage gadgets and goods to purchase or just look at, like I did.

We came on a weekday morning with 3 toddlers who were very excited to see some airplanes, and that's exactly what they did! There was thousands of them! If you or someone in your family is a fan of airplanes/helicopters, this is the place for you. We had so much fun touring the different aircrafts, watching the planes and helicopters fly, and people watching! The parking situation at the designated lot was easy, and from there they have buses running to the actual show grounds. This space is HUGE -- wear comfortable shoes! There are trams running periodically up and down the main road, but once it becomes busy they are few and far between - we ended up walking all of it (with a wagon for the kiddos). We probably experienced 5% of the offerings at the airshow, but wow did we have fun. If you've got a toddler, I recommend grabbing some noise cancelling headphones so they can enjoy the fighter jets if you're lucky enough to catch a show! We enjoyed some popcorn, ice cream, pretzels, and frozen lemonade while wandering around. Delicious classic fair food that was reasonably priced. We can't wait to come back as our son gets older and continue to make memories here!
