I said the real Indigo Girls?? I'm Fish Creek, WI??? needless to say i jumped on the tickets and the show was excellent! The sound was terrific and the seats were comfortable plus close to the stage. I also thought the price was right! (Highest ticket was less than $65)! I looked at the Indigo Girls web sight and they usually got well over $100 for top seats so I thought this was a steal! Very impressed with this small venue and that they can bring in acts on this scale. Only let down.... No cocktails!

We thought the student band that started the concert was very good but were blown away by the instructor's concert. The talent of the individuals on stage was awesome. We had never heard of Birch Creek until reading the Door County Events internet page. What a great surprise to be able to enjoy jazz played soooo well. It is on our most go to list next time we are in Door County.

They have a double feature with the first movie starting at twilight followed by an intermission and then the second movie. They have a snack bar with popcorn, candy, sodas, and the usual movie theater fare. You can listen to the movie with one of their old fashioned speakers that hangs on your window or you can tune into a radio station to listen through your car speakers (the problem with this being most modern vehicles turn the radio off after a while and in order to get it back on you have to turn on the car, which isn't ideal so the speakers came in handy). The prices are per person not per carload like some drive-ins. But, for two movies, it's still quite reasonable. The parking area is well organized and if you don't have the best spot for the first movie, not to worry, it thins out quite a bit for the second and you can reposition. We brought lawn chairs and enjoyed the first movie outside and the second in the car (it was a bit chillier at that point). We brought in a picnic dinner and enjoyed that before getting some candy dessert at the snack bar. Such a fun evening to be had at Skyway Drive-in! Get to it!

The last time we went (in 2022), they were showing Top Gun: Maverick, and Elvis. Gone are the old school window mounted speakers...you now tune your car radio to a specific channel. Still around are the old school dancing snacks commercials, along with the concession stand selling popcorn, candy, ice cream, and beverages, but you can bring in your own. Movies start at dusk, which, up in the peninsula, can be as late as 8-8:30 pm. We didn't get out from watching the double feature until about 1:15 am. If you want to only watch one movie, you can, but they still charge you for two. Located across from Peninsula State Park, it is conveniently located for campers, as well as for those staying in a hotel or B&B, and they usually make sure that one of the movies is suitable for kids. Nostalgic for those of us old enough to remember when drive-ins were just another movie option, and a cool and new experience for those who've only heard about them, you must visit at least once. It's open to everyone, you can bring any food or drink you'd like, and dogs are welcome, too! There is some food and drink available for sale before the show, and most people bring lawn chairs to sit on. The grassy field was donated by the surrounding farm and it's on a slight slope so everyone has a good view of the stage. You can also see Lake Michigan and watch the sunset during the concert. Overall, we had a great experience and can't wait to be back.

In 1880, the Pioneer Schoolhouse was built. It was only half the size of the building that is standing today. Cordelia Burt was the first teacher in this school. She was paid $7 per week. Miss Burt had 33 students in grades 1 through 8. By the 1920s and 1930s, there were 45 to 68 students enrolled at the schoolhouse. The Goodletson Cabin was built approximately in 1855 on Eagle Island (now Horseshoe Island) by Norwegian immigrant Thomas Goodletson and his family. It was skidded across the ice in the 1860s to the foot of the bay near where the Ephraim Condominiums are now located. Thomas and his wife Kjesten had nine children. Many early meetings of the Bethany Lutheran Church were held in the cabin before the church was built in the 1880s. The Bethany Ladies Aid was founded in the cabin, and Mrs. Goodletson was the first treasurer. The Goodletson family lived in the cabin until the late 1800s.

The instructors are great - all are accomplished artists in their own right and many teach at the college level - but to the person they have been friendly, helpful and oh-so-kind in their critiques. I guess it's Door County rubbing off - but the fellow students have been great, too. Friendly and open. By the first afternoon, the jitters go away and everyone starts talking and helping out - from offering gentle suggestions to sharing supplies. Hands down the best experience I have had in taking art classes- and I keep coming back for more!
