Would never recommend this school. I wasted over $20k on my "education". My program was to last 15 months, after 12 months I was told that my degree path was now 18 months. Umm no. Not what I signed up for. It was just a sneaky way for them to get more money out of me. Instructors are laughable. DONT consider this place. I'm not going to completely bash this school, after all, I knew it was a relatively subpar school going in. Attended from Nov '08 through Sep '09, it cost me $4,973. Found out I had to return to earn a few more credits for the Air Force. Went back for a 2nd semester, under the impression my student loans were covering my tuition and such. Completed the desired credit hours, went and got my official paper transcript from Sarah in the front office. Had no reason to suspect any complications. Fast forward to 2014. I find out the university I'm currently pursuing education with in the Air Force, they tell me they were unable to obtain the official ELECTRONIC student transcript(many universities in the military will not accept a paper copy unless it is in a sealed envelope, which mine obviously wasn't). I contacted Miller-Motte, and low and behold, I'm told I owe $2,500 and some change before they will release my transcript. Needless to say I'm quite livid, as my entire education future rests upon receiving this transcript. Upon some further investigation, it appears that my student loans were never applied to that second semester I attended, and they just decided to let me continue to attend and rack up charges without telling me, and proceeded to issue me my hard copy student transcript upon my graduation. Bottom line, this school, as is typical of many community colleges these days, can be very shady in their practices. If you attend, ALWAYS MAKE SURE you don't owe them any money on a regular basis, and stay on top of your ledger, otherwise they will hold your education future hostage for years. 16 semester credit hours ended up costing me over $7,400 BEFORE interest. read more

Let me start off by saying the people inside of the financial aid department are just rude. They act like they know what they are talking about and to tell you the truth it just sounds like something they learned to say 5 minutes ago. In fact, the only reason why I gave this college an B+ is because of the teachers. Teachers like Mr. Roth, Mrs. Rodgers, Mr. Knox and Mrs. Lemon are simply the best teachers I've ever had. The way how they teach is just amazing. I'm going to tell more of my friends to sign up and leave a good review about these super heroes, because they have really changed my life. wow. i wish that "0" was an option. this place is a disgrace to learning establishments. south carolina is known for its poor education standards. this "college" is no exception. i went to this school because of its proximity to my apartment, entering into the cosmetology program. though i graduated from this school, it wasn't without unnecessary hardship. EDUCATORS: the instructors constantly fought, loud, on the clinic floor while clients were having services done. and though they had experience in the field, they were for the most part anything but knowledgeable in the field beside the niche market of "27 piece" applications and chemical relaxers (one of the instructors actually once told me that a relaxer is "like a 15 on the pH scale"). and the turnover rate is anything but pretty for instructors and students. while i was attending they went through 4 educators- one of which just walked out in the middle of her class and never returned. another instructor- quite possibly the most talented in the lot of them- had to quit due to issues with her pregnancy. and the others were fired. my class started out with 22 and only 3 of us graduated. PRICE: IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS SCHOOL- PLEASE PLEASE READ THIS- Don't let yourself be taken advantage of! the absolute worst part about this school was the price. for the price you're paying to attend this establishment, you would think that you were going to the harvard of hair. however, it is anything but that. at the time of applying, i hadn't shopped around to find the average price of cosmetology schools in the area. i had no idea that i was being so ripped off. $30,000 for the program + all of the hidden expenses such as graduation costs, more books than you'll use in your classes, and hundreds of dollars on "kit" expenses when you get into your last quarter of the program. for half the price you can get an amazing education from a much more reputable school with employers and patrons with a great support system, knowledgeable and involved learning leaders, and very successful celebrity stylists guest lecturers (i'm really kicking myself for not going to pmts charleston.) and most of the other schools in the area are also around half miller motte's price- with the exact same curriculum. FACILITIES: the only positive thing that i have to say about this place is in regards to the clinic floor. very nice- only 3ish years old. HoWeVEr- there aren't enough stations for everyone so the instructors DEPEND on people not showing up and assign them to share a station with someone that does show up- so when this person does show up there is always a loud and embarrassing territory war. there are only 2 pedicure chairs which does not make learning to use them easy when you have 20 others crowded around waiting for a turn. PROGRAM LENGTH: the cosmetology program at miller motte cannot be completed in any less than 18 MONTHS! i had no idea that in any other location, this program is meant to take between 8 AND 12 MONTHS. that makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE. you could be out in the real world making money for 6 months while a student of miller motte's cosmetology department is still paying to learn the EXACT SAME information you already learned. i assumed that we just went more in depth at miller motte, when in actuality they don't let you get as many hours required for state board per day which stretches out the amount of time you have to be there. SCAM. I know that i've gotten a little long winded. i just realized that i haven't done my part in informing people about the pit fall that is Miller Motte Technical College. I just hope that none of you get taken advantage of the same way i did. i didn't have any idea until it was too late. there are many great cosmetology school in charleston-- BEFORE YOU GO TO SCHOOL, MAKE SURE YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK! read more

Unfortunately, I can only echo the previous reviewer! I was in the Aesthetics program. It was horrible-machines that didn't work appropriately or at all! Teachers leaving, as well as ones on campus unavailable with marginal or non-existent skills to teach. Costs were RIDICULOUS for what we received! Other students who were thugs; threatening & fighting throughout the program. Security was brought to our area several times for this issue; but the offending student would stay or be back in class the next day when they should have been arrested or expelled! I was so excited when I started about learning the skills I signed up for, but quickly (although not quick enough for the drop deadline) realized I was in school HELL! 2012 charleston campus read more

Miller Motte is just a horrible college in general. The staff is rude & not helpful at all. Like all the other reviews said, all they care about is your money. Im enrolled in the Esthetics program and there has been a lot of drama between the students and teachers & nothing has been done. The admission knows & could care less. The Esthetics instructor, Claudia, is a nightmare. She picks and choices her favorites and gets off topic every single day then expect you to just know the stuff she was suppose to have taught us. She is rude and also not helpful, unless you're one of her favorites. I regret enrolling here but am stuck here bc of financial reasons. Please go else where! read more

I attended Miller Motte Online College for three years. I worked very hard and graduated with a 3.75 GPA. While I attended this College I had several issues with students and staff. Many students would copy and paste mine and other students work, and get away with it. When brought up with the instructors they would either accuse me of being the copier or just ignoring me. I had to drop two classes because of this. The Personal staff is very unprofessional, when I had to have emergency surgery the advisor told me to deal with it and continue my studies. When I finally finished with Miller Motte College, and started looking for employment reciters from Miller Motte harassed me every day about whether or not I had found a job yet I finally told them to go to hell. I eventually was told by several promising employers that they refused to hire anyone from Miller Motte because it was not an Accredited College. So I now have a 40 thousand dollar loan and am not employable. I also left the Miller Motte feeling like I have none of the knowledge that I should have given that my GPA is a 3.75. I have contacted FASA, Miller Motte is committing fraud. They are claiming to provide a degree but they are not they are taking the governments money and giving you a fake piece of paper. I now have a large loan and no degree, I cannot get back the three years I wasted. read more

i am currently enrolled and have been going since Feb. I do not recommend this school for any educational purposes. If a student who has worked hard and got 100 on all tests but 1, which was a good grade also, is being given a 48% for a grade something is wrong. The teacher was suppose to give a test, didn't have her s**t together tried to print them up 5 min before class and printer didn't work. I had car trouble the next class and had to miss. I did get her on tape as well, saying she would take the changed test date into consideration. We'll see... they are all about the money. When you walk into the school they see dollar signs. I know someone who went with his mom to different schools to check them all out and he was trying to tell his mom that the school around the corner was about seven thousand dollars cheaper and they ended up in a huge fight. They can be downright rude if you point out how much more it costs. read more
