Love Trident Technical College's Dental Services Clinic!
    Marty D.

After years of getting nickeled and dimed by private dental practices, from Washington, D.C. to Charleston, jacking up prices, offering purported money-saving plans, requiring arbitrary and unnecessary X-ray repetition -- to quote Ronald Reagan, "I've had it up to my keister." Enter Trident Technical College's Dental Services Clinic in Charleston. I called for an appointment in April. The lovely and talented Jennifer Norwood assured me she'd call back when dental hygiene students returned in June. Voilà! Jennifer called and my appointment was scheduled June 8, 2021. Caveat: Appointment would take at least three hours. Student hygienist with faculty supervision. What did I care! I'm a retired network radio and TV new anchor, radio talk show host based in DC. Moved to Charleston after my daughter delivered my first grandson in 2010. I was escorted inside the clinic by a pleasant and accommodating staff member. There was a row of cubicles with dental chairs and equipment. I was fortunate to be assigned to student Bri Cox. Bri conducted an expert and extensive health history. No medical practitioner in my decades of existence on this sometimes wretched planet has done such a deep drill (no pun intended) into my past and present health history. The only thing she didn't want was my bra size! I got what Jennifer Norwood meant about the lonnnng appointment. I talked with the impressive Clinical Coordinator Kimberly Bodiford. Turns out we know each other. And Faculty Director Dr. Amy K. Cooper who has a private practice in Charleston. Dr. Cooper is off-the-charts smart and knowledgeable. And Dr. Mandy Gregory. I was surrounded by amazing, exceptional women and loving it! Back to Bri Cox. She cleaned my teeth as well if not better than anyone else! Ever. Bri has a year left of school. I told her she could leave now and get a hygienist gig. She's THAT good. Dr. Cooper reviewed Bri's dental assessment. Poked around my mouth as she asked Bri Qs. I got the vibe Bri earned an A. Excellent experience! I made another appointment with Bri for X-rays. If you're willing to devote time to support TTC's superior student dental clinic, you will emerge with a spectacular smile delivered by well-trained student dental hygienists. What is that line Arnold "The Terminator" Schwarzenegger uttered (famously)? "I'll be back "

Beautiful campus but found it very confusing in layout. The event I attended today was not well-marked and did a circuitous route to reach it finally. The auditorium was very well equipped.

Great College...Nice computer Professors like Tonya and great Dean met during PCDC 2017; 2018 & 2019

Plenty of shaded parking under beautiful old live oaks

A great and affordable alternative to attending a four year university. They offer certificates in many areas to put on your resume and improve your marketing. The campus is beautiful and pleasant. They offer day and night classes. Tons of parking everywhere on the campus and free WiFi.

The Trident Technical College main Thornley campus on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston is a well maintained college campus that has everything . They have really good programs and classes that get students ready for careers and the next step. I have enjoyed being a part of programs and events on this campus and have been impressed.

My husband and I recently attended A Night in the Valley Dinner and Wine Auction here, and we had a fabulous time. When we arrived they had golf carts waiting to shuttle you to the entrance, and they had champagne ready for us after the check in. Very well put together event, and it was fun to open our goody bags we received as we left. I'd say one of my favorite parts of the night was striking a pose at the photo booth. I was impressed with the food, as it was prepared by the students, and it was delectable. The auction was to raise money for the students, and it was a great success. Thanks TTC for a great night of fun!

Trident technical collage is a joke. If you know, you know. Teachers don't even know how to teach and they set kids up to fail.

I've never been a student, faculty member, or administrator at CSU. Only you (or your high…read moreschooler) can decide if CSU is the right college for you, so I'll just share my experiences from a visitor's perspective. I visited CSU to work a track meet and had a great experience. The outdoor areas of the campus and athletic facilities are impressive, especially for a school of this size. The football stadium is modern and the track is finished for all events (including the steeplechase, with barriers and a water pit). All of the student athletes I interacted with were pleasant, polite, well-mannered, and had good sportsmanship. The student body seems diverse- many states and several other countries make up the sports teams. The coaches and administrators were also welcoming to the timing crew, track officials, and other competitor colleges/coaches. If you're visiting CSU, several hotels are conveniently located just blocks from the campus, including Wingate, Fairfield, and Hampton Inns. I would recommend staying in one of those hotels because downtown Charleston is about 20-25 minutes down I-26.

I recently started a new remote job that wanted me to obtain this certification. I arrived over 30 minutes early like the directions I received from Pearson VUE instructed me to. I found parking easily, and the building itself is really nice. The receptionist told me exactly where to go, and I walked through the student lounge and into the library/computer lab. Mrs. Stephanie is the media specialist who runs the library and testing center. Taking any kind of certification exam is stressful but she was laid back and put me at ease. While I was waiting to be called back and waiting on my exam results, I saw her helping ECPI students on the computers, and she seems very devoted to what she does. The actual exam is no joke (most IT certifications are difficult), but thankfully I passed it. I don't even want to know the actual score- seeing "Congratulations, you passed" was enough for me. Mrs. Stephanie printed out my result and gave it to me and was very encouraging. This put me at ease because I was definitely nervous, as this was the first standardized test I've taken since I took the SAT in high school, and my first computerized assessment. I can only speak for her and the receptionist, but they put me at ease as an adult learner in a new-to-me field. This the only Pearson VUE testing center in Charleston, so you need to schedule your exam EARLY. I scheduled my exam in May and the earliest time I could get was July. With that said, if it's an ISC2 exam, you may be thankful for that extra study time- I know I was. I debated driving to Beaufort or Sumter but am glad I opted not to since this site is so much closer to home. I didn't remove a star for the lack of available testing times, but if you need a certain day, you may have to travel to a different location to test. I'm honestly surprised this is the only testing center in the tri-county area with the number of tech professionals and companies here. I don't plan to take any other certification exams soon, but if I do, I will certainly book my appointment early and test here.

I got 2 degree with ECPI (Associates & Bachelors) and I am working on my third (Masters). It's small so you may have more one on one time with the professors if you need it. The entire staff, from Present Weaver to Mr. Neal, are there to help you achieve your goals. The open house is the best open house in the area! The school offers you 10 Certifications at $15 per cert. and the last time I checked the Security + cert was $365.00. *the university is also good for people that have been out of school for along time. Cons: sometimes your classes are out of order to your curriculum but for the most part they keep you on a pretty steady track. Overall: one of the best decisions you can make!
