In all three of our events, Millicent displayed a strong passion and vision through her creativity and organizational and professional skills. For the most part, we provided her with our own ideas and locations. In areas where we needed suggestions, she was quick to provide and improvise. We provided a general schedule for our events to ensure we do not go overtime. Millicent was on top of the schedule and did not rush the process even when we went slightly overtime with the engagement photo shoot due to the gloomy, rainy weather and busy weekend traffic. In fact, she remain composed and was dedicated to taking the best shot at the best angle even if it meant she had to get drenched in the rain. Only about a month before my wedding, I decided that I wanted to do an engagement photoshoot. I googled 'Chicago Engagement Photographer' and happened upon Millie's website, www.millicentwong.com. I was very impressed with her work, along with the work of a couple of other photographers, so I decided to inquire with several others. Millie offered the most value and quality for the money by far, so she was the obvious choice. She and I talked over the phone to get the whole concept of what exactly we were going for. She took my ideas and helped guide me through my vision. It was a huge help, because I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for. The day that we were supposed to have our photoshoot, it looked like it was going to rain. Millie called me and offered to do it the next day and made it seem like it wasn't a big deal to reschedule. She didn't want our outdoor photoshoot to be ruined by the rain. I wanted to take pictures in front of various Chicago landmarks, and name each of the tables at our reception after these locations. I told her we were in a bit of a time crunch because we wanted to use the pictures for the table cards and we also wound up using one of the pictures for the placecards/favors as well as our photo guestbook. I initially requested Millicent's services for a surprise engagement, but after such an amazing and positive experience, we asked her to do our engagement shoot and wedding event as well! Millicent is incredibly professional, prompt, and great at her craft. During all three of events we shot, her passion and vision really came through. She had many artistic ideas to go along with the venue and location, and was able to give clear directions on how to get the best shots. You can tell when someone has a clock-in, clock-out mentality, and Millicent is the complete opposite. Milli photographed our engagement session and wedding in May 2012. We're not the most comfortable in front of the camera but Milli put us at ease right away and guided us right along. She's just so talented and professional, and makes it easy to work with. I couldn't have asked for a better photographer on our wedding day as she was able to guide everyone during the group photos we wanted captured as well as the candids, which she's amazing at! Chinese weddings are loooong and Millie and her 2nd shooter worked with us from 7:30am until close to midnight but not once did she lose her smile and energy. There were also a lot of staple family portraits and she did a great job conducting us and controlled the crowd without being rude. Prior to my own wedding, i was always curious how couples come out looking so natural and wondered if I had to pose but then still try to keep a natural aura. It turned out that I didn't even notice Milli snapping away at all the entire night but DID notice all the "key" moments she captured that not only came out very natural but also very moving. I was also delighted she provided teaser pictures for us the Monday following our Saturday wedding. Mill has been amazing to work with. She's an awesome photojournalist that capture many memorable moments, mom's wiping of tears, flower girl onlooking brides curiously, grooms+groomsmen+pastor praying at the backstage etc etc. I would not have known about all these happening because honestly wedding can be a blur when you think back, but thanks to Mill who captured it all - I can now look at my wedding and fresh my memory (everyday! if I want to! ^^). She knows what's a good angle and what are important to capture. I show my dad a picture slideshow of the teasers Mill came up with, the first couple pictures were of our wedding band and bouquet. My dad says "are you showing me a commercial slide?" That's how good Mill was w/ using the lighting, everything just look that good in her pictures! Mill is very accommodating too. We had a second reception 2 weeks after, and Mill was able to give us teasers/highlights of the wedding so we can show them in our 2nd reception. We got our pictures on time as promised, a huge plus because I've read online many other instances where the photographer delayed on delivery. If you have any cultural ceremony besides saying the vows in front of the Lord, Mill has a lot of experiences in that too. I just wanted to write a quick update on my previous review. Millicent was one of the BEST decisions we made about our wedding. I had several family members and guests approach me telling me how much they enjoyed our photographer. She was so friendly and easy...a really calming personality to have around on a hectic day. She does a great job of capturing the moment without anyone even realizing she's there. She shows so much enthusiasm for her work...it's so obvious that she loves what she does and it shows in her work. I will say that the only negative is that it does take some time to get the photos back after the event, but it's totally worth it because she takes the time to individually edit them.
