The mill sits on the river which is powerful and beautiful. The whole park is lovely taken care of. A play area, fishing, picnic area, and bathrooms.

We tried to do the Lake Emma Trail loop as well but the bugs completely overwhelmed us and we turned back. The path follows the lake but most of it is in the woods and the lake is not viewable. In the south side there are some nice lookout points. The park has a great rental shop. I wish we would have had more time to take a bike ride or rent a kayak. Lots of park/water toys to choose from.

I hiked a few miles towards the end of the day and saw an eagle swoop down to grab a fish out of the lake. I shot photos of birds that I had not seen before and a young buck hiding in the birch forest. A variety of wild flowers were in bloom. Be warned that you need to apply insect repellent since ticks abound. There are both paved and unpaved path, and it is obvious that the park was well-planned. There is even a cemetery for pets. It's a must visit if you are in the area.

The Lion's Park is home to the world's largest turkey. They have a festival every year in July.read more

Stonebridge (#1) is one of the best parks in Fargo, in my opinion. And no, I am not any part biased…read morebecause I live right along the park (is that telling too much? haha).. You can decide whether I'm bluffing or not. To clarify, I guess this is Stonebridge #1 Park, because there is also a Stonebridge #2 Park and for some reason they couldn't give them separate names? But this is an extremely popular park, so it's not just me glamorizing it. If you go to the park or drive past on any remotely nice day past 4pm, you will see DOZENS of people there. Just on the basketball court alone there are so many people hooping it, sometimes it stills boggles my mind because it doesn't seem like the park should be able to fit that many people. A few years ago Stonebridge #1's playground was completely torn out and renovated, and it is way awesomer now (it's a word don't even question it). Super clean equipment and fun stuff for all ages! Even as a fully grown adult I can't help but love their zipline ride or the swing sets. The regular swings are quite high up too, so you get a better swing once you get going, and there's even a double swing. Not only can you play around at the park, but there's also a nice gazebo and lots of picnic tables spread out around the grass, with built in grills nearby most of them. Tons of families go there in the evenings and have meals, and even family reunions. It's really sweet. And connected to the playground, basketball court and grill out areas is a ginormous field- there are soccer goals, a running path along the side, and all the room to do whatever your heart contents outside. There's often soccer practices held there, family and friends playing a game of football, people working out or other. My high school even hosts their annual Powderpuff football games on the field. Stonebridge #1 is a fantastic park, and don't you forget it (or get it mixed up with Stonebridge #2)!

Brunsdale Park is a large, spacious, interactive and really wonderful Fargo park! It's the perfect…read moreplace to run, walk or bike along the windings paths, to enjoy the playground, sit and picnic, play soccer or other games, and so much more. Though I am partial (and totally unbiased) for Stonebridge #1 for Fargo Parks, Brunsdale really gives some stiff competition. It's like a mondo-sized park- there's several soccer fields lengths of just open grass. There's a running path that goes along the park for at least a mile and always winds around. It also has an underpass under the busy 32nd Street that's touching the south side of the park, so you don't have to worry about crossing traffic. The playground is fun because it has a lot of goofy, less common play equipment that looks like an absolute hay day for a kid. There's an adorable gazebo to sit at and even a little bridge across the tiniest valley. I recently discovered there are pickle ball courts here that are super clean, and Brunsdale also includes Brunsdale Baseball Park, which I've gone to on numerous occasions to play myself (softball) and watch others. They have a concession at times, and bathrooms. Another new addition is the interactive storywalk along the running path that has signs telling kids to do different things and it's so sweet and good fun. It would take a long time to get tired of this park with all there is to do!

We are on a quest to visit every state park in MN and enjoyed this one. We did the prairie view…read moretrail which takes you on a three mile loop around the river. The untouched prairie provided lots of colorful flowers and other greenery. We enjoyed using our Merlin app to listen and identify all the many birds in the area. The lookout point to see the winding river from above was a nice shady sidetrack. Bugs weren't much of an issue but being a prairie, there was a significant amount of the trail in the sun. Wear a hat. We stopped in the ranger office to see if they had postcards (alas, no) but the staff was super helpful and they had maps if you need them. Great stop!

It's peaceful, quiet, and lovely. I wish I spent more time here to actually explore the park. Came here at the end of September and it was lovely.

I visited the Hjemkomst Center recently to browse and see what they had to offer, including the…read moregift shop. After looking around, I sat down quietly with my laptop to get some work done in a calm space. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. A male employee working near the gift shop made comments and remarks about me being there, as if I didn't belong or wasn't supposed to look around. His behavior made me feel unwelcome in a place that should be open and inviting to everyone. I also emailed leadership afterward to share what happened, but I never received a response. That lack of acknowledgment made the situation feel even worse, as it suggested that concerns from visitors may not be taken seriously. The center itself has a lot to offer, but staff should treat all visitors with respect. My experience made it seem like certain people aren't equally welcomed, and I truly hope this is addressed so others don't feel the same way.
