Used to go here every payday. I have spent over $6,000+ at this store over the past year because I…read morelove to support our local businesses. That being said, I had a friend of mine go into the store to buy me a bottle of tea or soda. I was very sick and didn't want to make the trip myself or get anyone sick. He took a photo of one of the shelves of sodas to make it easier for me to make a decision. Maybe not the smartest thing to do, but my friend is visibly autistic and doesn't understand these things at times. The owner came out and made a massive scene in front of his customers, screaming about how my friend was "working with his competitors" He would NOT listen to my friend's explanation and resorted to publicly shaming him instead. It was so bad, that my friend is now too scared to go back because he is afraid he may be attacked. If this is how they treat their loyal and disabled customers, I can't even imagine how they would treat anyone else. Save yourself the trouble and go to the Co-op in town. Much kinder people, and better prices.

I've purchased several snacks/drinks, 12 piece chicken meal ($12.99) from the deli, coconut cream pie and marionberry pie. The chicken was crispy and so flavorful. I found it to be better than KFC chicken and delicious like Popeyes chicken. This place is convenient when visiting the Ashford areas when headed to the nearby lakes and parks.

A small convenience store at the corner of 4th and Adams. I've never been sure whether the place…read moreis called "Adams Market" because it's at the intersection with Adams, is called "Adam's Market" after someone named Adam, or is called "Adam Market" as it's sometimes rendered in other online results. The great thing about this place is the owner, who is jolly and sarcastic and funny, although his wit does tend to run a little absurd and not a little dry. Almost as great, though, is the selection of Middle Eastern foods. It's a great place to stock up on boxes of mahmouls for cheap, or to get tins of stuffed grape leaves, which are a vastly better snack than the paltry selection of heavily-processed junk food. Fresh, but limited, but huge, baklavah. The real wonder, though, is a small row of sodas in the back. Not the fancy burdock-and-ass English stuff, but the selection of Lebanese fruit sodas by Kazouza, the best of which is the watermelon. None of them are HFCS-loaded crap, but the watermelon nonetheless captures the fanciful watermelon flavor of something like a Jolly Rancher without being too cloying (at least, for the first few bottles.) It's so wonderful. Like, it completely changed my view of carbonated beverages. It's also a reliable place to get ayran, which is good when the Kazouza gets too sickly-sweet. Also, the brand of ayran they stock is also very useful as a yogurt culture, and at least with the milk from my goats that I tried it with, it resulted in some absurdly-thick and wonderful stuff. Some of the staff other than the owner can be a bit grumpy or difficult, and some of them are quite sweet and outgoing. Still, it's hard to fault the gruff ones. It's the most centrally-located and only late-night convenience store in downtown Olympia. It's a great place to rub shoulders with people who are drunk at noon and people who are far gone in the middle of the night. It really functions as Olympia's only Middle Eastern market. International Spice and Halal used to carry much of the same stuff, and since it closed and its owner moved on to other things, this is the best place to go. And it does a good job of that, while also doing a good job of being a convenience store. A very cool place. Near and dear to my heart.

My friend was smoking some pork and some pot in preparation of the start of the new season. There was the first bit of rain dumping upon the capitol city and one couldn't help but wonder if the about-face from the searing heat of the previous day was a bad or good omen for our beloved Seahawks. There's an abundance of Rubus ursinus(AKA blackberries) on my friends property and I aimed to pick a couple zip lock baggies for brewing purposes this winter. To no avail the lads and I had a few cold ones while I waited for the rain to let up. Not to be deterred I donned the rain gear and set to picking. Turns out it was the perfect time. The rain was rinsing the insects and what have you off the berries and the thorns seemed to have softened up a bit. I wasn't getting snagged and the rain gear was great protection so I really could lean into the bushes. The place was ripe and loaded for bear and I made short work of it. The smoked pulled pork was served in the form of a slider on Hawaiian rolls with a tomato based sauce and some coleslaw infused with kimchi. Personally I felt the kimchi took focus away from the smoked pork but either way the food was excellent. The game was close. The rain wasn't a good sign after all but it's preseason so,............eh(shoulder shrug). Don's has low ceilings and a decent beer selection for a convenience store. The domestic side is pretty domestic and the craft side is darn crafty. I would recommend checking for expiration dates on anything edible before buying. The guy behind the counter is always watching some Korean programming. I have a strong suspicion his birth name isn't really Don but might be short for Dong which in Korea doesn't mean a slang for male genitalia but means East. Don's is a good place to stop on the Dong side of Olympia if you need a six pack for the game or in the market for a hash pipe ever so cleverly disguised as a keychain.
