Weight room and basketball courts downstairs, along with classrooms, lockers, pool, etc. Upstairs are exercise machines and a walking track. You can walk on a treadmill and watch people go in circles, or vice versa. Many cleaning stations. Many bathrooms. Indoor and outdoor pools, and the indoor one has a couple of actual pools (maybe one is for therapy?) Daycare area, another bike room with even more monitors (there are many TVs around in the exercise area.) Big locker rooms. I wish this was closer to me. But maybe I'll get out here once in awhile.

It's very spiffy to have a party room connected to the pool area. We sat outside both rooms at a high top to watch her enjoy the fun, and once my daughter arrived to stay with her, we took off. I looked around as much as a could without actually getting a tour, and was impressed by what I saw. I was thinking if I lived in Worthington again, I would absolutely become a member to make use of the gym, pool, etc. I'm not sure what the etc. would be, but I would explore. Cool place.

It was last night's rain that made it less than a stellar run. Groveport Rec Center's running path has a serious drainage problems. Whenever it rains there are LARGE puddles on the path that last for days. These aren't little puddles that you can run around or jump over. You either have to run through them or try to go around them in the grass which is what I tried to do...and sunk ankle deep in the mud! So be careful if you come here after a rain. You might just want to bring an old pair of shoes!

The Dublin rec center gives you a free in-body test when you buy fitness passes which is a very…read morenice little perk but it's almost impossible to schedule it. I tried calling both the people (T & H, for short) who administer the test to schedule it and neither one called me back. I also texted one of them (H) and never heard back. So I called the rec center and they gave me the email for H. I emailed him and he replied and we scheduled it. Then, two hours before the time we had scheduled, he emailed me and said he would be teaching a class at that time and could I do it myself? I had never paid attention to the set-up of the procedure so I said no. So he said he would get someone to cover for him and he'd be there at our scheduled time. I got there early and waited about 15 minutes before I went to the front desk to tell them I needed help with the scheduled test. The person followed me back to the in-body room and pointed to a man and said "That's H". So he was out in the hallway having a conversation and I was waiting (at that point nearly 20 minutes) for him. He came in and gave me the test. Some version of this happens every 3 months when I buy new passes and have to run the gauntlet to get my free test and it is extremely frustrating.

I took the Fearless Falling class, held between 3:00 to 4:00 on Wednesdays and I learned so much. The senior lunch on Wednesdays and Fridays is only $4; you may choose to dine in or takeaway. Near the dining hall sits a huge cabinet filled with puzzles ranging from 300 to 1,000 pieces. Their generous policy is that you may bring puzzles or take as many puzzles as you like. The pool tables are always in use by smiling gentlemen and ladies. There is a quilt drop-in a couple of days a week. I'm impressed with how upbeat and cheery everyone is and I'm glad the city has created such a welcoming space for its seniors.

My wife and I have signed up and started taking the 3-day per week 3-month aerobics class. The cost was a mere $35.50 per person ($1 leisure card, good per family). That's a great deal by any means. The instructor is fun, the class works you out for a good hour, and best of all it's close to my house. Aerobics isn't the only recommendation, they have a weight room available for $20 per year, and a whole host of other classes, from musical to creative. One star off for the seemingly lax policy on parents that drop their kids off here for "day care"
