While my residency years ago in Worthington predated this facility, I was able to visit a few months ago. My husband and I delivered granddaughter #3 to a birthday party for a school friend. It's very spiffy to have a party room connected to the pool area. We sat outside both rooms at a high top to watch her enjoy the fun, and once my daughter arrived to stay with her, we took off. I looked around as much as a could without actually getting a tour, and was impressed by what I saw. I was thinking if I lived in Worthington again, I would absolutely become a member to make use of the gym, pool, etc. I'm not sure what the etc. would be, but I would explore. Cool place. read more

We wanted to go to the pool to play in the lazy river and use the slide. We checked the online schedule (partly posted) and went for the 11-1 time slot. We found out when we got there that both of those parts of the pool were closed and only the other half of the leisure pool was open. The other half is more geared for younger kids and ours are 8 and 10 so that was disappointing. Even more disappointing was the reaction of the staff when I asked about that. They pointed out that "zero entry only" means that both the slide and lazy river are closed. Really? That's what that means? As if it should be obvious? We were also told that we could return from 5-7 but we were already there at 11 and had planned our day around that. This being vacation, we had plans later on which didn't include going to the pool twice in one day. So we made the best of it and stayed but again, it was super disappointing. What they need to do is change their stupid sign because it is NOT obvious what "zero entry only" means. I would guess that only the rec center employees have a clue what that means. read more

I'm very displeased with the level of disrespect I received from a man behind the glass wall in his mid 40s with a beard. I have spinal stenosis and I was there with my special-needs son, and he acted as if we would not be able to use any of the fitness equipment due to our physicality. Again, I am horrified at the blatant ablest nature of this man. I didn't catch his name, but he had a shirt that said something Fitness on it. Stopped in while at an event in the park. Very welcoming, even though we are non-residents. There are ball courts, a swimming pool, etc. Bustling place on a Sunday. About the only thing for Baby K to do, without swim gear, was play in a very cool "nerf" indoor playroom, with noodles, tunnels, etc. She had a blast. The room is soundproof, so toddler squeals did not bother people in the main building. Prices look reasonable even for non-residents, and the place is well-maintained and well-designed. Lots of different areas and activities. We'll be back for more fun and maybe a membership. read more

The Worthington Community Center is five stars as far as community centers go! It is owned and operated by the city of Worthington's Parks and Recreation department. The facility is a sprawling 72,000 square feet and offers an extensive list of fitness, art and self-enrichment programs. If you live in the Worthington area and are looking to get into shape, the Community Center maintains two gyms, an indoor pool, an indoor track and is open from the wee hours of the morning until 9 PM. They also offer childcare services (inhouse), so there's no excuse!! If you prefer organized sports, there's a variety of aquatic and fitness classes, as well as softball, golf, tennis, basketball and badmitten leagues for both adults and youth in which to get involved. The Worthington Community Center also houses an art studio, pottery studio and public meeting rooms, which can be reserved in advance. Annual memberships are really quite affordable and non-resident rates do not cost much more than resident rates, so if you work in the area, this could be a convenient place to join the gym. This community center is amazing! The weight and cardio area is full and has everything you could want from a gym, for beginners, cardio fanatics, and bodybuilders alike. The pool is what keeps me coming back. Four lap lanes, lazy river and tubes, giant water slide, big hot tub, and open kids swim area. $8 day pass and lots of activities. read more

Worthington community center unfortunately is extremely understaffed . They have nothing open ever. The only family swim is 11-3 on Sunday's. We cannot take our little one any other day to swim and it's sad. There is no open gym and you can't use the track often as there are now rules for that. What a waste of money. Great place. My whole family loves coming here. Our little one attended 2 of their preschooler programs and loved it! WE loved the bargain price and outstanding instruction provided! I come here during my lunch hour all the time to use their gym facilities and the walking track is a great option during the colder months. I also love their pool! Lanes for swimming, a hot tub, a BIG waterslide, a lazy river, and zero entry space with fun pool sprays and fountains for the littlest ones! They have an outdoor park area that's great to burn off energy, and have picnic tables for quick picnic breaks. Employees are super friendly and helpful. read more

Beautiful amenities and the facility is great... But the pool staff is on a power trip. Micro managed myself and kids every move to the point that it took the fun out of it. This place is the "whip". I love it so much that I pay the "nonresident" fee to put my darling daughter in classes there. It's really a bargain for some of the classes that they offer, and she has had a blast at all of them. So far, we have done the tumbling class, messy art, and ballerina enchantment. We are sure to do many more classes in the future too! In addition, there is a great play ground here for kids to play at before and after classes. She loves it, and has made lots of friend on this play ground. I have even enjoyed goofing around on the slides and ramps with her! Loads of kiddo fun!!! read more

I held a work event here and it was excellent. Staff was super helpful (even when we forgot plates, they gave us some they had in their staff room. How did I forget the plates?!). The downstairs is super nice and spacious and even has some things to keep kids and teens busy if they don't want to work out or go to the pool (their game room is super nice-arcade games, air hockey, more than I am forgetting at this time). We used one of their meeting rooms which was what I would consider a classy meeting room. Seriously, I felt more grown up just being in it and doing official things. Also, the pool! They have a great indoor pool complete with lazy river and lanes. It's made me happy on more than one occasion in the winter when I have the winter blahs. read more

We love it here. I would give it 5 stars but they need a little more employee supervision. Some parents let their kiddos run around unsupervised and said kiddos like to leave trash everywhere and not respect the equipment in the game area. Really the parents are at fault but the rec center needs to watch who is doing what so the parents can be held accountable. Over all though I really love it there. The people are nice and they offer a ton of stuff to the community. My comments above I admit are more nit picky than serious. Over all they are great and I am happy to be a member. read more

Big fans of the Worthington Rec Center here. The mens basketball league is a good mix of ages and abilities, so still competitive but I'm not getting dunked on by guys half my age. I appreciate that they make an effort for us to get to know each other - I've ended up meeting several of my neighbors here. Our kids do swim lessons here, and we've been very happy with the different instructors. Mr. Jake is especially great. Another instructor was very understanding that my 4 yr old has sensory challenges. In general it's nice to have a place like this where we can do various activities as a family, run into friends and neighbors, etc. I do wish they had more family bathrooms available after swim lessons though - and I've heard other parents say the same. read more

I love Worthington Community Center for swimming laps! The lifeguards are good about keeping children out of the lap lanes so adults can exercise. It also helps that the lazy river and other "kid areas" are not connected to the lap pool. I never have to wait long for a lap lane. Very clean pool and facility! Staff is friendly and helpful! The outside is decorated with Christmas lights and looks so beautiful and welcoming at night! read more

I am not a member here, but have been here for a few of the family fun nights. My kids and I always have a great time. The pool is clean, well laid out and full of fun activities. The rest of the facility pretty much follows suit. As far as I have ever interacted with the staff, they have all been friendly and inviting even to non-members.
