I really like this park. I used to live nearby and visited a few times, then I moved farther away and now I find us here again. This visit was a starting point for our river adventure. I saw a bunch of people fishing for crayfish at the launch site. I will be back for that alone. I do have several crayfish traps. read more

This is a massive park, and my singular experience is limited to the two boat ramps, since I was invited by a friend who wanted to paddleboard down the river, dragging my wife, my son and I behind them on inflatable tubes, so I can only comment on this limited experience. However, based on these two sections alone, this is a fantastic park for any and all water-based activities. For once, the $5 day use fee seems justified, considering all the things that it offers. Additionally, there are miles of hiking and horseback trails, picnic areas, camp sites, and plenty of open green spaces (shaded or otherwise) for parties and other outdoor activities. This is a great place for day use or camping without the expectation of outdoor peace. I have been coming here for years. Usually filled with screaming kids, loud radios and close neighbors. I normally however enjoy being here. My only real complaint is the park rangers. They are power hungry and full of themselves. We have not had a trip here without being confronted for something stupid. It really gets tiresome. read more

There is no enforcement of the leash requirement. Zero. Today, January 22, 2025 I am driving to the western most parking lot and I see a Oregon State Parks truck leaving. Immediately, the Golden Retriever you see in the photo runs right in front of my car, his disc golfing owner a good 100 feet away not paying any attention. I drive a short distance further and there are 3 more off leash dogs, again disc golfing owners paying no attention. So, 4 loose dogs off leash, State Parks guy obviously isn't enforcing or even talking to their owners. So my dog and I head to the parking lot just to the east. Twice, off leash dogs aggressively come at my dog, andI have to yell at their oblivious owners to get their fcking dog! We walk back to our car and yet another offleash dog. That's now 7! 1 I nearly hit with my car, 2 aggressive towards my on leash dog! I come here daily, it's getting worse every year. Now it's an every day event avoiding loose dogs. There is a huge offleash area these violators could care less about. When I inform them about the offleash area, the common response is "yeah, but I can't can't disc golf there". What, you can't keep a leash on your dog while you disc golf? Like 4 guys can't take turns holding leashes? You would rather see your dog get hit by a car or get in a dog fight? So I wrote this also as a warning. Sooner or later there will be a lawsuit by someone whose dog is leashed, and a off leash dog attacks their dog, and the person gets injured in the process. The State will get sued for blatantly not enforcing the leash laws. Every Oregon taxpayer will pay. This is a beautiful park. It shouldn't allow a few people to ruin it for everyone else. read more

Wow. What a fantastic place to come. We were camping, but it is so close to the Portland metro area, easy day trip. We spent three nights in the campsite. They are very nice and relatively private due to all the trees and plants. We came with a trailer and they have water and electric hookups. Very clean. The rangers were very nice and helpful. We planned on a float from here to Barton park. When we went to Barton to drop a car they had it closed off. The good news is we had a backup. You can float from the top of this park to the bottom. Takes about 1 1/2 hours. We were planning on a 4 hour float from the bottom to Barton but this worked out as a great alternative. Next to site 22 is a short path to Estacada Lake. We brought our Kayaks and love the narrow lake. You can also rent them there. We were SUPER lucky on this trip. There was an Oregon State Park free movie, beer and popcorn Saturday night. We lucked out by coming this weekend. Shout out to Dechutes Brewery who supplies the tasty beer. There is a fish hatchery but the holding tanks were empty at this time. I think it is for Salmon. Beautiful park with lots of trails, places to picnic, bbq, disc golf, ride horses, and gorgeous views. Its $5 to enter and you must display your receipt at all times or you will get a ticket. The park is very clean and their are park workers everywhere. I'd reccomend coming here to get away from the city and enjoy nature. It's not too far of a drive but feels like you drove far beyond. I'm an indoorsy sort of person that got roped into camping with my family. I have about {} this much experience camping as a Girl Scout and does high school band camp count?? Anyways, rented a pop up from a private renter on Outdoorsy (which wasn't a great experience, I don't recommend them, or eh, that renter-- our pickup time was delayed by 3 hours because the 7-pin converter they said they had actually wasn't the right one to fit on a Highlander--- and our drop off time has been backed up 3 hours because, well, they want it back sooner... so I'm basically paying for an extra day of camping without actually having the camper, anyhoooooo). Onto McIver: Campsite is large, but you may want to google around to find which are the more desired spots. Some are smaller, some are near the crapper, some are shadier, some are adjacent to horse trails and the wafting odor of road apples. Pretty nice distance from next door neighbors. People seem to be pretty respectful and quiet at night, too. At least the group is this week! We have a large, partially shaded lot. There's a fire pit in the ground with a grate for grilling. Nice large picnic table. The campsite is VERY DUSTY, so bring a broom to keep the dust out of your sleeping area, and plenty of wet wipes, as you're gonna get smeared with dirt. I guess this is the appeal of camping??? Onto the toilets. I am told the men's has graffiti and is pretty smelly. Oh, you men. The women's is fine. They close and lock up the showers at night. If you walk all the way around the building, you'll find a large family bathroom with private pooper and shower. My kids were all about the privacy. Lots of dogs, keep yours on a leash, or the park ranger will give you (me) a talking-to. Boat ramp, fishing, with kayak and SUP rental is a five minute easy walk, and it's right past the dam, so it's super calm. Trails also lead to the more rapidy part of the river, splash around. We hoped to go tubing, but it was going to be too much of a production to unhitch the camper and drive upstream to launch. Maybe next time. Guess what? You can also get mobile reception here. Hard not to recommend this place for camping or day trips. Has lots of trails, a disc golf course, a big river, horse riding trails. Everything you would want for summer activities. We came in the winter and still really enjoyed the camping area and the staff we spoke to were really friendly. Close to Oregon city and Portland, however far enough that you can have a wonderful feeling of disconnection from reality while surrounded by incredibly tall trees. Nice RV park in a great location. The spots are paved there a little lumpy and uneven but I was able to get pretty level. They have plug-ins and water at each campsite I visited in January a lot of the sites were blocked and part of the park was closed. However, I really enjoyed it here. Great walking trails have a dog park that horse trails several lakes in a reservoir. read more

We went here for the weekend to RV camp at the campgrounds and we were so happy with this place!! The campground itself is very clean and cluttered with trees which is beautiful. Most of the slips seemed pretty private and just surrounded by trees. There are plenty of trails that start at the campground and take you into what could only be Jurassic Park's jungle!! There are plenty of activities to do at the park and trails to hike. I will say that the drive in is a little rough at night for an RV. The roads are a little windy and it gets very dark! So try and drive in during the day. There is a little local downtown area a few minutes away that has a coffee shop, restaurants, and anything else you might need. Portland is also maybe a 40 minute drive. Not too bad. read more

I haven't been here in years, but this park used to be in my backyard (basically) - Springwater Road! Some people would think this was a small park, and yeah, compared to like Yellowstone it's a baby sized park. This is such a great park though. HUGE fields, so much beautiful greenery. There's frisbee golf, horseback riding trails, access to the river for fishing, rafting, swimming. I believe there's camping as well (it was walking distance for me so I never camped there). But there's also tons of walking trails. The wildlife I would see would just be squirrels and deer. In the winter tho, the roads would get ice so it would be a littttle dangerous driving but the snow was just so beautiful on the trees. Estacada is just a beautiful area - just fresh air, tall beautiful trees, the views of Mt. Hood. Just a great town. I know this is usually a town people just drive through, but I would recommend spending the day at McIver (for sure in the summer cause warmer weather) but if not McIver, at least the Clackamas River to float! read more

I have been living in Estacada since April and have been somewhat uneasy about the lack of things to do close by. That is until I started exploring around. One of my favorite parks in the area is Milo McIver State Park. This park is absolutely massive! I have probably been here about 20 times over the year and still barely scratched the surface. Of the things I have checked out is the extensive trail system in this park. As a mountain biker and dog owner, I am always leery about taking a new trail as the rules are not always marked at all of the trailheads and I often just show up on a whim. Though that does not seem to be the case here. I found that at nearly every trail intersection there are signs posting whether or not a trail is closed or open to bikes, dogs, horses and atvs. Along some of the trails is a really cool fish hatchery as well as the beautiful Clackamas River. Aside from the trail system there is plenty of fishing and boating access for water users. I have kayaked the little "class I" section at the upper part of the park. I am pretty sure there are some class II sections of water in there. But still pretty fun for intermediate level paddlers. The campsites in this park look awesome from the street, though I have not actually camped in them. Lastly my favorite part of this park is the intense Frisbee golf course. Now I will be the first person to say that the sport of Frisbee golf sounds about as exciting as tossing a rock at a dead squirrel. But its really all about the beauty of the course. And this course is beautiful. The terrain has some hills, wooded areas and follows the Clackamas River. This makes for a pretty exciting game as you are often putting off the top of a hill over some trees and meadows. It is worth mentioning that this is one of the most popular Frisbee golf courses in the state and often hosts pro competitions. So be sure to check the events calendar before heading out or you may not get to play. If this is the case be sure to check out Timber Park which is pretty close by. As always be sure to treat the park with respect and read up on the rules before heading out. There's a fee just to get into the park. Beautiful park! The air is fresh and clean. We were there to accompany our disc golfer player. He said the course was great with a few crazy- challenging holes! We enjoyed the scenery and got many steps in! The moss is outstanding- lush forest everywhere you look. The water is gorgeous! We took a quick side trip to see the second biggest Yew tree in North America. Funny thing is- we learned it's not marked to keep it protected. Not sure which one it was- but the two bridges and pre-historic looking forest made it a worthwhile venture. There's a great fishing area off the trail- and it brings you to the fish hatchery which is really cool, too! Five stars especially for the myriad of very clean restrooms found throughout the park! read more

This is a great huge park. I have seen the massive disc golf course, the remote control airplane airport, the up-stream area with camping grounds, horse area, fish hatchery, and both boat ramps. My usual activity is park at one ramp, then using boat and foot power I paddle and walk so I can do it all without a car-transfer. The class I/II paddle just inside the park takes under an hour and is quite fun. The walk is mostly along the road and takes one to two hours. I can't wait to try out the other activities, but I don't have any relevant experience or equipment. read more

My family had a great time camping at Milo McIver park. The campground is very small, but the park was huge. We camp in an RV, and without a car , were not able to access many areas of the park. The park is clean and the hosts are exceptional. The river and lake are close by. The highlight of our stay was tubing down the river. read more

This is a wonderful place to ride your horse! The trails are well maintained and landscape varied from riverside to a fun obstacle course to do some desensitizing and training. There are usually other horse folks around and it a nice and easy ride. read more

We have really enjoyed our 4 day stay. A-16 site. Clean. Nice picnic table. Great trees and moss and shrubs. Chipmunks/Squirrels/Mama Deer and a set of brand new twin fawns/Blue Jay's are just a few of the animals we have come across. Came here with a new attitude and outlook on my health. Close enough to OHSU to enjoy the leisure ride to Portland and back. Camp host has been kind and helpful! Pepe's Taco Truck is the bomb for authentic Mexican food. Downtown is tiny and very quaint! Tomorrow we leave and the entire Park is booked solid for the Disc Golfing that everyone loves!! We will definitely be returning. The water was fresh/electrical hook up was done without a hitch. watched a spider spinning its web till sunset! The sunsets have been spectacular! A very clean facility! So you know Alcatraz? Well there's this spot in the park, up above where all the floating begins, and it's beautiful and dangerous, like a certain notorious prison. There's wildlife, there's sunshine, there's a bit of a current but nothing you can't swim against once you get downstream. And then there's this huge dam. It's industrial, and towering, and ominous, and you can't understand how it connects to the raging water below. You feel like you're on a sound stage, or standing at the base of a hard-to-escape insane asylum. Walking up to it from the river, you pass these small water-carved pools full of churning pine needles that feel a lot like the place where the lava monster lives. Unreal things happen here, like steelhead the size of my thigh (and let me promise you, that's huuuuge!) jumping straight out of the water. It's creepy and quiet, apart from the rush of the water. It's nature and industry all balled up together in one wartime package. It's beyond all the horse paths and raft packs and camp grounds that this huge (huuuuge!) park offers in return for your measly $5 entrance fee. I think you'd really enjoy these parts of the park. It's worth the day trip, and they have proper restrooms and parking lots and everything. But as far as that stretch of the river, the part where the dam looms above, well... I hope I've successfully scared you away, 'cause I want to keep that part all to myself. read more

Less crowded than most of the rest of the parks around on the Clackamas, but it's also expanded a lot. Beautiful area.

We started at Mc Iver Park Lower boat ramp to begin our adventure. It was a very hot Saturday in the upper 90's. Getting into the park $5 and no line to get in was very nice compared to where we left a car (Barton Park was super crowded) which was our take out point.. The lower boat ramp is where we pumped up or tubes, boats and kayak for the river float. The boot ramp was just gravel and not much of a ramp. The parking area seemed to be very safe and clean. Mc Iver Park to Barton Park float at the entrance stated 5-6hours, but actually took us with a few short stops here and there 4 hours. All in all the float from Mc Iver to Barton had a few fun rapids great for beginners and nice areas of just calm waters and beautiful views. Great day trip thats for sure. read more

I have lived in Gladstone for over 8 years now, and I've never been here. Such a big beautiful park and so I wish I'd known about this place sooner! A friend invited my boyfriend and I go to and "float" down the river, and I'd never done that. It was GREAT! So beautiful. A lot of young party people there, but we went in the late afternoon, so it was awesome!! The place had great picnic areas, golf courses, the Clackamas river etc.. I would definitely go back to this park. It is just so close by and so beautiful! The BIG downside for me was the very young and hip party crowd. A lot of drinking and stoners around. It was like a party river! However when we went in the late afternoon it wasn't bad, and the park is so big...there I'm sure are places to go to get away from that. Still a beautiful park! read more

We love this campground and it's location. Close enough to the city, yet far enough away. We love all of the greenspace and the hike to the river. Lots of places to play games. Only complaint was THE COLD SHOWERS! Although the campground was booked to 100% for spring break weekend, they won't turn the second boiler on until May 1 - which means... BRRR. read more

My family and I LOVED this river float!! Canoes or heavy duty gear is not required. We took the river float from the upper ramp of McIver Park to Barton park and it took us about 6 hours with time for swimming on the float. We loved the several rapid areas since they kept the rest of he float interesting, since it was very slow and relaxing. I most definitely recommend anyone to go on this float!!!
