The 2025 Portland Polar Plunge was here. Great park and an awesome event. Located righ next to the Willamette River. There is plenty of parking and the boat ramp is good size. The park is huge. Overall a very nice park alongside the SW riverbank of the Johns Landing neighborhood. There is a nice dog park that is fenced in, and a good playground for the kids. The trail along the park is clean and well maintained. The views of the sellwood bridge and downtown Portland are above average. The occasional sound of screams echoing from oaks park across the river is unsettling, but expected given some of the rides they offer over there. Unfortunately, the city has turned the parking lots here into a cash opportunity and parking is very overpriced. This feels like it limits access for some, which is unfair to me. I would definitely recommend parking in the adjacent neighborhood (across macadam) and walking across at the light at Nebraska. Also, some of the grassy areas have really large gopher holes so be careful not to roll your ankles. A really nice park that spans a decent area just below the SW waterfront. Check it out if you have kids, a dog, or any desire for a decent outdoor urban experience here in Portland. read more

What a beautiful park from one end to the other there is something for everyone. There is a dog park on one end and the boat launch area in the middle. Covered picnic area, plenty of grassy areas and kids play area. There is a parking area that you pay for with parking kitty. read more

In the midst of running errands and doing some weekend shopping, we wound up watching the witches wading in the waters of the Willamette (7 point alliteration combo!) at this gorgeous park! Neither my wife nor myself had ever been here before, but I think that's about to change. Stretching about a half-mile along the western bank of the Willamette, this park boasts a boat ramp, fenced dog run, tennis courts, plenty of parking (including RV and trailer spots), and green spaces galore. Well, maybe in the spring, anyway. Instead, we were treated to a glorious array of reds, oranges and yellows, autumn's grip continuing to tighten as the final days of October slipped away around us. My stomping grounds as far as walking goes. Originally, I would be walking from Pioneer Square to allayment Park, which is a round-trip of 10 miles nearly in two hours. But now since I've moved to South waterfront, it's cut it in half I believe but still I love this walk along the waterfront all the way to here because it's beautiful scenery, and river and quiet nature. I highly recommend this walked, especially starting from Pioneer Square because it's relaxing and just amazing to see everything on a nice summer day. read more

Quaint little park near downtown. Large grassy areas, playground, sports fields, and boat launch. You do have to pay to park here it was $8 a day without the boat trailer $10 with it for daily parking. Nice spot to launch into the water since the currents slower here. read more

Nice little park along the Willamette River and a river biking/walking trail. I was in the area and brought my kids/dog to romp around. The playground is for small-ish kids...my 6 and 8 year old enjoyed it but it wasn't amazing for them. There's a pavilion there and we saw a couple birthday parties happening. We also walked over to the dog park and really enjoyed it - my dog met some friends and ran around the fenced in area. read more

This is a great spot for walkers, bikers, dog walkers, and parents/guardians alike - there is a playground area, small path, plenty of picnic tables and a few benches, and a fenced in dog park. My only suggestion would be having an area in the fenced in dog park for smaller dogs only as that would be a great addition for the future to give dog walkers even more options when in that area. Also my friend and I did have a few people asking us about our table and I guess the larger table area was reserved. I didn't see signage to that effect so that's probably the only other thing I think should be made a bit more obvious to the casual park goer. read more

The parking lot is apparently only for boats and trailers. So, if you are one of the five regular cars who are allowed a parking space you too can use the park. This park also just seems very unkept - I was not brave enough to try my luck at the restrooms. read more

There are a lot of snark-o-rama comments in the reviews here. What's up with that? It's a beautiful park, lots of meadow like grass, tall trees, play equipment for kids. Multiple benches face the river - that's where we went for some down time. It was peaceful. We watched boats go by, rowers in canoes, a couple of jet skis. Today, October 2, there were numerous geese hanging out, doing their thing. And yes, they shit a lot. So watch your step. I didn't have a boat to launch, but f I did you bet I'd do it here! The lot is huge and the ramp is long and not too steep. There are plenty of parking spots for cars without trailers, and an hour of parking cost $1.25. I found this park because I ride thru it when I do a long loop from my home in NE Portland. I like to head over the Broadway bridge, loop around to Naito, at the south end of waterfront park get on the multi-use path that goes along the river. Be a sweet love and go slow - dont scare the dog walkers. Once you get to this park it's already been a lovely river ride, but there's more! Just south is Miles Street, a block I like to call the Brigadoon of Portland. It's a hidden strip of river front homes that arent McMansions. I would L O V E to live here. Just south of that is the Sellwood Bridge, where you can cross over and head north on the spring water trail. Miles of unimpeded riding past Oak Park and Ross Island. Turn east just before Omsi and cut across Elliot in Ladd's Addition and get ready to grind up Lincoln - urban bike corridor that will take you to Mt. Tabor where you can work even harder! Or be like me and head north on 53rd and home to Rose City Park. That's about 18 miles, and that last bit up Lincoln will use everything you've got left in your tank. Loving this city. An a-ok park. I live on the hill near OHSU and it's about a 15 min drive to Willamette Park. It's an okay place to go if you need to take a walk with a friend or something (I came here so that my friend and I could just walk in loops on the path while we talked, I'm trying to not get diabetes ya feel?), but there's so many better places you can go that are probably closer to where you live. Pros: - A place to do water sports - There's a parking lot - Area for dogs to play - Easy to find - Dock for boats and water sports - lots of grass Cons: - There's certain parts of the park the just smell really bad. Like a mixture of manure, trash, etc. I'm not sure if it's not well-kept or there's not a good system in place for cleaning the park, but there's a lot of poop everywhere and it smells pretty awful. - You have to pay for parking in their parking lot (which I'm not a fan of if you have a big enough parking lot, but I guess it's fine, I know we all live in Portland...aka city of never free parking) but the spaces aren't clearly marked (like the paint is faded, so you can't really tell if you're parking in a spot designated for your kind of vehicle or not). My friends have told me they've gotten citations for parking trailers or boats or whatever but it's because the spots are really poorly marked. Summary: If I'm passing this park and need a jog, I guess I'll stop. Not going to go out of my way to get here though, there's plenty of other places to walk/ run in Portland that will give you a better experience. read more

Great small park with a boat launch, playground, picnic shelter,!tennis courts and a dog park. One sees quite a few e-bike riders and strollers about. Nice river views and lots of open grass areas. read more

This park has a great view of the Willamette River. If you walk far enough you can get to OHSU waterfront. Overall great walking spot.

We held a bass fishing tournament here. Launched about 12 boats that morning. No sweat. Plenty of room to take turns launching.

A nice park with a decent boat ramp. It's a pay to park place, cc cards accepted for parking tickets. Sensitive reading eyes? Stop reading here. Everyone else continue on...if you dare. I come here to launch a boat and fish. The dumpster smells better than the bathrooms, fyi. (Pro Tip) Hold it if you can. Transient boats litter the river up and down from the park. Picture floating dumpsters disguised as boats. Makes one wonder when you see them coming ashore to use facilities if they have to pay as well, or is it just the rest if us? Just sayin... Brunswick Stew = squirrel braised with corn, lima beans, pimientos, and okra If someone wanted to cook Brunswick stew, perhaps for a Sunday dinner with loved ones, Willamette Park would be a smart place to start your shopping. The squirrels here have conveniently shed their intrinsic fear of bigger creatures and all but climb into your purse if you offer to feed them. Plus, you can sew their tails together to shield yourself from the chill off the river on a cool day. Once you're pleasantly stuffed full of stew, you can work off the food coma by biking, jogging, or tossing a Frisbee around the many acres. There are also several geese. In fact, for every single picnic bench in the park, there are five mushy goose eggs somewhere on the grass. But you cannot substitute goose for squirrel in Brunswick stew. Rachael Ray may do it, but she's crazy. read more

The main reason to love Willamette Park is that, unlike the waterfront due North, it hasn't been overrun by heroin and meth addicts. You are unlikely to find littered needles. Yes you are likely to encounter lots of goose excrement, but that is better than the human sort, no? Of course, the way things are going, this is all subject to change. But, for the moment, this park is very peaceful. In my experience, bikers and pedestrians have happily comingled on the paved path. Of course, there are reckless bikers who will zoom by, but that's everywhere. There are plenty of benches along the path which for the moment are not leased by the above mentioned meth addicts. Where does the park begin/end? It seems to just meander on and on with no clear way to traverse it. The paved walkway is dominated by habitual joggers, kayak-wheeling river goers, and strollers.The green way is COMPLETELY monopolized by geese poop and soccer. Dogs are off-leash, and the in the "middle" of the park is an ENORMOUS parking lot for what I think may be the only west-side public boat launch. Water access outside of the launch leaves a lot to be desired. read more

This is a large city park on the Willamette River south of downtown Portland. Pros: tennis courts, athletic fields, playground, river path, boat launch. Cons: goose poop everywhere, offleash area not fenced and right next to main entrance road, goose poop everywhere, fee to park, GOOSE POOP EVERYWHERE. We live a few blocks away and I wish I could say we visit this park more, but due to the poor offleash setup and the avian fecal predicament, we tend to visit other parks over this one. read more

We love this site for putting our boat in the water. Reasonable parking, boaters are patient and polite, easy access. We have been coming here for several summers. Yesterday we arrived about 1230; and to our dismay the restrooms were "closed for the season". One of the nice things about this park was the restrooms were reasonably clean and well maintained. There were 4 port a potties, they were disgustingly overfilled, filthy, no paper, no soap, truly 3rd world nastiness. At the time of arrival, there were several soccer teams playing, and many boaters. Every person that had to use the port a pots came out upset. Such a nice park and place to come, surely, there must be some more hygienic upkeep. Please reopen the restrooms!! This situation makes me not want to come back. read more

On a Sunday morning, we decided to go and see what is the Willamette park all about. It was another gorgeous day in the city. When we entered the park, what startled us was that we have to pay so much to park in. So, we decided to park out in the street and walk in. We stayed pretty much close to the boat marina and found that there is a nice view of the city. read more

Not enough parking for cars. Huge half empty parking for cars with trailers. If you park in car with trailer side shithead officer will write you citation for $80. It's not clearly marked where you can park or not. read more

Our beloved neighborhood park. Always a pleasant stroll. The designated off leash and unfenced dog park is in a terrible and dangerous spot - right next to the main park road where people are always speeding. It's in such a joke location that I see at least half the dogs off leash throughout the rest of the park, which I do not mind. Biggest complaint is the goose poop. Hopefully the construction of the new water pump facility will scare them off for the summer. Construction isn't set to be complete until August 2016, FYI. read more

A cute place for a picnic in the park...assuming it's not covered in Goose Poo. Puppy loves to run around off leash and play fetch, and there is plenty of room to do so. Tennis courts, picnic tables, and trails to run make this park enjoyable. Sit on a park bench by the water and take it all in! read more

This is a very small "beach" on the Willamette River. It's cute, easy to access and has a big parking lot. There are a lot of boaters, jet skiiers, kayakers, and people walking around the park, and it can get busy on sunny days. There's a fee to park. read more

Played soccer here for years as a kid & teen....moved back to PDX as adult to SW waterfront & walked our 5 dogs there nearly every day for a year....& THEN they built a fenced in off-leash area!! So perfect. read more
