In the second year, Red class teachers Ms. Zhila and Ms. Ma, created a caring, interactive classroom with academic focus to prepare the kids for kindergarten. Kudos also to other class teachers and the kind and welcoming staff including Ms. Usha, Ms. Malu, Ms. Marian, and Ms. Van. The school uses an app that allows for easy communication with the teachers, and we are kept up to date on lunch menu, curriculum, and photos. The school is comprehensive in their social activities such as annual winter performance, holiday celebrations, parent teacher conferences, family events, etc. The kids also have regular music and kung fu classes. The school is bilingual English/Mandarin, with a daily Mandarin language learning component, so it is helpful to have some exposure to the language and culture so the kids can understand better, and the lunches are sometimes Chinese meals. Teachers are supportive and open to address any concerns at any time. Classrooms and playground are large, clean, and bright. My child has thrived, socially and academically, at Ready Preschool due to the support and care of a great team of loving and dedicated teachers. He's been in 3 of the 4 classrooms and all his teachers have been wonderful. While he was in the orange room, Ms Miriam and Ms Van took great care of him. He was still in diapers and we partnered with the teachers there to get him potty trained. In the green room he had Ms Priya and Ms Anna and they had to be his favorite teachers there. Currently he's in the red room and his teachers are Ms Zhila and Ms Ma. He's learned so much in a short time, he's doing addition, teaching me about matter, and planting vegetables. His teachers are so kind, dedicated, and caring. One of the biggest perks is that the provide lunch and snacks. My son always finishes his lunch and we're told he asks for seconds. We receive the monthly lessons and weekly photos. There are also activities happening every month, in addition to music class and kung fu. They also still continue nap time even in the red room so your child gets some rest after lunch. The school provides a great balance of academic and social skills. The students are majority Chinese and there are daily Chinese lessons. Even though we do not speak mandarin at home he's picked up mandarin in class and was able to sing us songs, speak some phrases, and count to 10.

Teacher Des, Queenie, Qiao, Sam, Aliaa, Stone, Tina and Hope looked after our toddler at various times during school days. Our toddler misses them now that school is temporarily closed. Luckily the toddler was rescued by another parent who happened walked by when picked up her kid. Their free lunch is the cheapest lunch from the outside home kitchen which likely is not regulated by the city safety guidance. One of the fun thing that teachers like to do is to label those kids who are not their favorites, such as trouble maker, and they judge kids from divorce/separating families and talk behind. All of the staff is very supportive and we get regular updates throughout the day via message and more info at pick up on how the day went. It is also very easy to communicate through their app regarding pick up changes, general questions, etc. In the Bumblebee class (ages 2-3), you could not ask for better teachers than Ms. Yolanda and Ms. Sarah. They've taken such great care of our baby. Hands On Learning was our first school/daycare experience. Prior to this, our baby was regularly with me as I work from home. While already very extrovert and talkative, we really wanted them to gain more social experience. Most of the children in our lives are all older, so they're not used to parallel play with others their age. They're also used to 1:1 attention from an adult, so we wanted to expose them to a larger group setting sooner than later to improve on any growing social or separation anxiety. Ms. Yolanda in particular has been working tirelessly 1:1 with our baby and really partnering with us to make the transition from no school to half day to now full time (!) 5x a week to be as seamless and pain-free as possible. She's been great about learning what we already do at home and providing additional recommendations for us to try that will help with adjusting to full time school. While we're still navigating BIG emotions at drop off, Ms. Yolanda is always ready with a hug and a smile for our baby. There's still some days of all tears, but those days are getting less and less. I keep hearing that our baby is making lots of improvement from both Ms. Yolanda and Ms. Sarah. The evidence is all over our baby's laughing, smiling face as we talk on the drive home and lasts all the way until bedtime. I can't thank everyone here enough for helping our baby thrive. We've been at Valley Oak Montessori for several months now and couldn't be happier. What stands out…read moremost is the communication -- teachers send detailed daily updates through Brightwheel (meals, naps, diaper checks) along with photos and videos throughout the day, so we always feel connected even while at work. The teachers are genuinely attentive and proactive. When our child had a minor incident at school, staff followed up promptly and worked with us on a plan going forward. When she first started, she only spoke Chinese, and the teachers took the initiative to learn some simple Chinese words to communicate with her and help her settle in -- that kind of thoughtfulness really touched us. Lucy has also been wonderful about celebrating small milestones -- potty training progress, new words, little achievements -- and letting us know right away, always with such patience and care. A special thank you to Catalina, who is our daughter's favorite teacher. You can feel her genuine love for the children every single day.
