The Milpitas Police department is the epitome of why Milpitas is a great town to live in. Every single time I call they respond within 30 minutes. One time my son tested the new VOIP phone by dialing 9-11 and then hung up. Little did we know, just by doing that, they sent police officers to check on our well-being. Good luck getting police to respond to you within 3 hours or at all if you're in San Jose and calling for help for anything short of a murder. The police station is also a great place to meet up to sell on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace. read more

Milpitas PD is definitely present when you need them. Within minutes, even with traffic/ lanes of cars with no where to go, or not even 5 minutes of calling 9-1-1 when I was rear ended (on 11/30/24 on Calaveras Blvd), Milpitas PD was first on the scene, took my statement and made sure I was taken care of. Thanks Officer Pizzo! Proceeding that, the visit to the police station or the records office was pretty efficient (granted that you arrive first thing in the morning). The two times I made a trip here last month, there was like one other person (s) ahead of me, but each encounter was quick and no long waits if you call their line. Parking at the MPD is not a problem, depending on the time of day you come in. My biggest gripe is that MPD charges you $15 for a CD your laptop or CD player doesn't recognize. Or maybe it's just my laptop. But that's why it's important to take your own pictures and videos at the scene of an accident, crime, photo-op, etc. Also MPD charges for paper copies of your report when everything is digital nowadays! This is my hometown and I've lived in Milpitas since the first grade (or early 90s) and as an adult, I can say I feel pretty safe in Milpitas, thanks to our community of police officers, admin, fire and EMTs. Like, 15 years ago these guys were notorious for handing out traffic tickets and that was about it. If you had an actual issue that you called them for, they'd find some reason for why it wasn't their problem. When dealing with the criminal and the victims of the criminal's acts, half the time they'll just side with the criminal because they know it'll be easier to deal with a spurned victim than an aggravated criminal. Today, nothing's changed in that regard. It's just the same BS. For example, if someone literally stole your laptop and then went into their house with it and you could point out their house, rather than knock on his door and be like "hey man, I'm told you took this dude's laptop," they'd tell you to take up the theft in small claims court on your own. Or let's say someone rams into your car and when you ask for their info it turns out they don't even have a license to drive. Rather than deal with the potentially stressful drama of confronting someone for breaking the law, the milpitas police department is more likely to just defend their reckless behavior and gaslight you about the legality of it to your face. In my experience, unless it's to write you a ticket, these guys are scared to actually enforce anything. They'd rather "facilitate," and it's sad to see. They're lucky this is such a peaceful town or they'd be cooked. read more

I appreciate the desk lady (even) escalating a follow up by their Sargeant, though simply having a conversation is the smallest humanity in this regard, and again they are well aware they could have easily resolved the issue within their means, AND are of the few who have the authority to resolve the issue easily. The constant foolery of the other social services puts unness pressure and drama upon you all. In their daily drabbery, 'unfit' people feeling the power of authority over you: pressuring "deceitfulness" for their personal drama, enjoyment, or responding to the general dryness of nothing better. However this was a basic and emergency need in such a crucial time that would have made a world of difference. I also commend the desk clerk lady, who at least facilitated conversation (did something very right) - very much appreciated as male officers often cannot do basic job duties, have basic conversation, or even document serious issues. That is very sad of the front desk staffs across gov't agencies however, though I'm sure taking calls all day is most exhausting or dealing with anyone lying then sifting effectively over for the best outcome "of everyone." Those who aren't investigating or responding out should be simply focused to triaging situations well and far as possible - practicing effective communication. I really commend the ladies and sorry for any anger in my voice. I respect you so much more for that, considering your male counterparts can't do anything, the majority of the time. I feel like officers sometimes even get comedic relief from the very dire, serious, or emergency situations of other people - and most disappointingly, the everyday people (a little too much all the time though, for real.) Affecting your sanity and lifeflow, which I do care for. The future of the State being burdened by the pensions of ineffective people on the frontlines is hurting the future of State in multiple folds, inherently collapsing the labor economy upon itself unless true revenue can be generated by something else over (besides) labor. But really all the money comes from pots (pools ) cutting the others checks from it on top of it all. * I just wanted to add that I know their display of cruelty was inherently intentional, maybe to rub in how warm they'd be feeling over Christmas, I believe they were told beforehand (or blanketly) to leave out "unHoused" people in the cold and setback on purpose regardless of the Holiday. This is the only place that could provide this support at that time, and they failed horribly while I may have been slightly erratic to everything of local actions putting my future in A LOT more jeopardy; to impinge (upon) how shitty they truly feel inside. Instead of having a stick up their butt, people should have helped me if they really are decent, though clearly, sometimes they're the ones hurting most inside. And lastly, by denying me the allowable temporary shelter,perhaps over personal amusement, you opened up further insurmountable amounts of chaos that could have been reigned in (and yes on the clock the day after this 'perhaps' inadvertent setback, egregious intentional setbacks by locals keep happening to me personally much too often, out of the "multitude of backwards protests by blind airheads.") Showing how little one thinks of or understands of common or basic human decency becomes a burden or consequence upon the citizens and against a better, safer, saner, more humanitarian future. read more

Officer Pham pulled me over for using my cell phone while waiting at a traffic light. What I found amusing was how he sounded like a disappointed parent, telling me he had given me plenty of chances to put my phone away--which I believe is true. I probably didn't hear him because of the music playing. I appreciated that he took the time to explain everything clearly and concisely. Getting a ticket isn't ideal, but it serves as a good reminder to be more mindful when operating a vehicle, even when it's not in motion. The reason I'm leaving this review is that people often give high marks when things go their way and low marks when they don't. In my case, the outcome wasn't in my favor, but I still appreciate the professionalism Officer Pham demonstrated. read more

During rush hour, I witnessed a hit and run on the road. After this damn fool bump me from behind, he decided to drive off. He was speeding trying to get away from me by dangerously cutting past other drivers. I had a feeling this guy had no insurance or a suspended license. Once the traffic light was red, he stopped so I was able to take a picture of his license plate. I made a U turn and called 911 to report hit and run. Before calling, I saw an officer about to pull out from police station. On the parking lot, I told the officer everything that happen so I filed a report. He got my info and I got his. He told me I will hear from him within 2 days or so, but gave me a claim number to give to my insurance. I told the officer if he does not have insurance, then I wanted to press charges. When I called my insurance, they pull up the information of the driver and of course he has no insurance! I was angry, but lucky it was just a minor scratch which I just need a touch up. After a week, I haven't heard anything from the police. I even sent an email to follow up and never got a response. Now I never know what happen to that driver or if there was any charges. You always hope the police can do something about it, but I guess it wasn't major so nothing was done. So the bad guy got away with it! I'm very disappointed for not getting any justice. read more

I would think the police department would not want to be affiliated with someone who does that to a child. He was actually a good ref. It was the ref coordinator and the co-commissioner that assumed it must of been his fault because he has a mental disease, even though someone else told them it was the other girls fault. Does that sound right. The co-commissioner wondered why I was so upset, You listened to the ref coordinator who has a history of lying. If you join Police Activity League be careful because they treat everyone differently and if you don't agree with them they oust you. My mom always said what goes around comes around. I think some people out there have an extremely uneducated view of public safety and all they do for us. I work for the city of Milpitas as a recreational leader and during the school year I'm a staff of an after school program. I work at Pearl Zanker and we store our equipment and supplies for the program behind the multi purpose room in a fenced off area in a shed that is locked every day by the school's janitor. During Spring break when class is not in session and I'm not working I was driving by the school and saw a group of what seem to be teenagers/high schoolers that were playing with our ball equipment. I caught a glimpse of one of them hopping over the fence and throwing the balls up in the air. I was heart broken because we try to maintain our equipment and keep it secure, so that the kids can be able to play with them during the program. I called Milpitas PD to alert them and told them of the situation and how they had trespassed and broke into our shed. I was running errands at that time and just wanted to leave them a tip hoping that they will be able to handle the situation and get our ball equipment back. However, I get a call from a police officer who sounded angry. I had to pull over to take the call because I was driving the first time they called. When I picked up the officer was explaining to me the situation they found and didn't seem to care that our equipment was taken out. He demanded me to come and collect my belongings which I had to explain was not mine but belonged to the program. They didn't offer to hold onto the equipment all they did was throw the balls back over the fence because the fence was locked. I'm just disappointed i don't think they punished the group of people involved because when I was driving back they were still there playing basketball with most likely one of our balls. They asked me to come to the school, but I didn't want to come because I was with my daughter and I didn't want them to know my face just for my own safety. I thought I was doing a good thing as a member of this city by trying to leave an anonymous tip. However it backfired in my face; they made me feel guilty for even trying to seek out justice. I have been communicating this story with my fellow co worker who also works at the school and were just stunned by this situation. We're both saddened by the fact that we may have damaged balls or no balls at all once we come back from the break. read more

This police department has a reputation for racially profiling. The first time was back around 2006 or 2007, I was riding my bike to work at 2am. (Yes, 2am)....where I worked as a parcel shipper at the now defunct California Overnight. A white male police officer decided to stop me and claim it was me not having lights on my bike. (Fair enough). However, he continually asks me 'Soo, where do you live at?' I even told him I would take him to where I lived at; however, he continually questioned me. (I'm thinking: 'What happened about being concerned about my bike?') I called in, but the operator took it as 'Being concerned over citizen's safety'... Yeah, right. Another time was in 2009, when I had to walk from the Great Mall bus area to South Park Victoria and Calaveras...at around 10pm. I was coming from an Ohlone College end-of-semester get-together. A white male officer (surprise, surprise) decided to follow me on Landess and Park Victoria....WHILE I WAS WALKING. The area wasn't well lit. That same officer would stop me, and start asking me if I had an expired license...and other things I don't recall. When I called in to their dispatch, an officer tried to smooth it over, but I went ahead and filed a complaint. (According to the white officer, I looked like a suspect). Now, considering the area I was walking in was not well-lit, was he saying that all of us African-Americans look the same? Too, I was carrying my backpack, and dressed semi-casually.... I received a letter from the Chief of Police, Dennis Graham, saying the situation was taken care of....and I also touched bases with one or two of the officers whom either took my complaint, or took my inquiries... Interestingly, there would be a third incident around December of 2009, before I moved to Santa Cruz: I would be waiting at the bus stop (near Landess, and Yellowstone, I believe) and a white officer would drive by...eye me....turn on a street....come back...and park a ways down from where I was sitting. I would quickly get a pen and paper to take down his car information, but he would be a little sissy and quickly drive away. read more

I'm standing out in front of work.I dont have my uniform on,waiting for the boss to let me in so I can start.Cop drives by looking at me cuz I have a jersey and khakis on and am standing in front of a closed store.I knew it what was coming.... COP:Excuse me ME:[MF'er I knew this was gonna happen] Yes... COP:Why are you standing out here? ME:I'm actually waiting to be let in.I work here. COP:Yeah.Can you step away from the building? ME:Step away from the building? (laughing) I WORK HERE. COP:Do you have any kind of ID? ME:No,its all in my locker. And by this time,my boss was walking up to unlock the door and let me in. ME:Well,here comes my boss.Bye. I totally ditched the clown cop and I hope he felt like an ass. 3rd run in which again I was innocent... I had met a lovely young lady earlier in the day and we set up a date for the night.To Meet at Chilis in Milpitas.Well,parking was non existant.There was only one available,but the guy next to me was parked way over the line.I figured I could maneuver close enough to the curb to park.So I did.I parked with almost no space in between me and the curb since the guy next to me was well over the line.Kool.And now onto the rest of the night and my fine indian girl... Were enjoying dinner when who walks in yelling my name but the MPD.I guess he ran my plates to get my name.So we cut dinner short,I go with him to explain my story.I told him the absolute truth about what had happened.The guy next to me,etc. He wasnt having any of it.He asked me how much I had to drink.I told him only one beer.(I'm not much of a drinker) He asked me if I would do a sobriety test.I was getting heated.I had done nothing wrong and was being treated like a criminal. He asks me again how much I had to drink."I told you I had one beer.Do you want to ask the guy in Chilis?" "What about before you got here",he asks. "None,I said." Boy this 1st date with my indian hottie was going good...not! "Am I sensing attitude sir",clown cop asks me. "Yes you are." I replied. So I do his stupid little sobriety test making a fool out of myself as people are driving by looking and pointing.I knew I was good to go,cos I barely had one beer. Then he tells me something about looking like I had a little too much to drink by looking in my eyes.Well,why the hell dont you give me the breathalyzer thing so I can prove your ass wrong,I was thinking. Finally my date said she was getting cold and can we go.He lets us go ultimately and that wasnt the only date we had.Luckily she was a gangsta indian girl and wasnt put off by this incident. read more

Over the years I've had plenty of run ins with the Milpitas PD. I've had my share of speeding tickets from them and I've had my meetings with them that could have gone bad but did not specifically because they were understanding. In a nutshell, if you are being stupid, you are going to get a ticket. My experiences have been with many of the retired officers of Milpitas and I haven't had a ticket in years ( I had my lead-foot amputated ). Between the Milpitas PD and the Milpitas Fire Department, the city of Milpitas has a great number of superhero's looking out for them. Sleep well and easy Milpitas. read more

The police department! Who reviews police departments on yelp, anyway? Probably people who got a citation or something.. Anyway, this review is for the Community Room only! Did you know that there is a large Community Room attached to this police department that Milpitas residents can reserve at no cost?? It easily fits 30 to 60 people. If I had to guess, I would estimate it to be about 400 sq ft in space. There is a side door for access to the community room directly when the main lobby is closed. (You should always call ahead to make sure they will unlock it before your event! Sometimes they forget.) There is also free public wifi here. Overall, I'm just grateful that there is a free meeting/event space that the Milpitas Police Department offers for local residents. Definitely a huge plus. read more

My neighbors home was being broken into while he was at home. Of course he calls the Milpitas police, and of course they drive in with the sirens on scarring away the perps before they get there. Another time I came home to cop cars everywhere around my home. They were raiding the neighbor behind me. Another cop was in my back yard with a full auto rifle. He had taken the ladder from my shed so he could see, or shoot over the fence. No courtesy call....nothing. When they finished a cop came to my door looking very seriously at me, and told me they were done. He made me feel like a criminal...okay your welcome. Come onto my property with multiple police, and shotguns anytime. In reading "Siren Sounds" from the Milpitas Post it is clear they rarely have major crimes to deal with. My question is why do I see 5 to 6 police cars daily on my commute home? Cutting law informant jobs is the best way I can see to balance the budget. After me, and my sons getting multiple tickets I have decided to leave Milpitas. I do not want to live in a town where to Police prey, harass, and bully its law abiding citizens. read more

I was able to get away from the strangulation and yell for help and called 911. 2 Milpitas police officers came and started to question of what had happened Officer Kevin Jackson #273 proceeded to tell me if he questioned the other person and the story was different that I would be arrested as well. I was the one who called for help and your going to arrest me? He proceeded to play doctor and tell me he could not see any marks on my neck and my eyes were not RED to show that any strangulation was done. The bruising of my neck is now apparent. I have had great, medium and poor responses from the MPD. Only one experience was really poor, but that is the one that stands out. A Milpitas police officer told me that police officers know more about the law than judges do. That was such a blind, arrogant and ignorant statement, that it just blew my other impressions out of the water. I find it scary that people who understand so little about the legal system are walking around carrying guns. I can only hope that he was an anomaly, but the response when I complained about the officer and his statement, did not convince me of this. read more

The City hires young inexperienced immature officers who dont listen and detain people just to fulfill quotas. Metformin causes memory loss and I was accused falsely for 24 hours but more importantly accused for a long time of something I did not do and something I did not intend to do. I told the truth several times and they did not believe me. They do not listen. Dont use me or anyone to fulfill your quotas. Not right. Not fair. Very bad. read more

The Milpitas PD is the worst offender of police decency that I have ever seen. These guys are after not only filling their quotas, they are after increasing their own income by giving tickets. I have not seen this many law enforcement people owning BMWs and Lexus cars as I have seen Milpitas cops do. the motorcycle cops earn more than $8000 per two weeks which comes to more than $100K per year. Today I got a ticket from a motorcycle cop (aka pig seems the right thing to say) - Fernando who threatened to "take me to jail, have my car impounded" if I did not sign the citation. I have gotten tickets before but have never felt so threatened by a cop. But I have decided to avoid the city of milpitas and it's businesses altogether. I used to be a regular at restaurants, bars and at the great mall. Now I will take the inconvenience to go to Santa Clara, San Jose or anywhere else but milpitas unless they change their laws and their police officers. I received a call from him in less than 2hr when I reached home. I got an update from him that he located and spoke to the suspected driver based on the license plate I provided, and gotten her insurance information for me to proceed with the claim. I have had nothing but good experience with the Milpitas PD. No driving citations here, since I don't drive, but as a pedestrian and cyclist, I'm thankful that they're so concerned with speeding and other traffic violations. I live a mile away from the PD, so I see them constantly. They always wave at my son, and in the two dealings I've had with them, they've been friendly and courteous. Last September, I sighted a mountain lion on my street. The K-9 officer was skeptical, since the dog didn't react at all when they went up and down the street, and none of the neighbours had seen anything, but he took my statement and was respectful and friendly about it. Later in the day, Santa Clara Vector Control came by to talk to me. Last week, my neighbour's house was broken into. Several officers responded. They were respectful, thorough, and very concerned about the safety of the rest of the neighbours. I'm grateful that the Milpitas PD is so "on the ball". read more

They've been prompt in arriving at my house when the house alarm has been set off. They've responded when a guy was acting strange in a park and frightening people away. They inspected my home and offered tips for improving the security. They even picked up a lost bike I found. Though people I know have been given tickets, as John P. said, "If you are being stupid [or make a mistake], you are going to get a ticket." read more

Fast, responsive, and accomdating. I called the police for assistance because I saw a small little kitten on an expressway frightened for life, I couldn't turn a blind eye so I drove to the left shoulder and turned my emergency lights on, then tried to rescue the kitten. The kitten was so scared that it went underneath my car and climbed into the hood of my car.I couldn't get the kitten out and I didn't know what to do. Cars were honking at me, no one was interested in helping. Out of all the cars, only 2 cars stopped to help...This world needs more compassion and humanity. I was at the end of my limit, I honestly didn't want what to do so I called Milpitas PD to help me out. During the phone call, I seriously didn't think they would actually send an officer out to help me but I told myself it was worth a shot. However, they actually did send out an officer. They didn't question my action on rescuing the kitten, didn't look down on me for helping an animal, instead, they offered full assistance. One officer came out to help me and then another officer happened to be in the area saw the incident and also decided to help out. The two officers who helped me were wonderful people. I want to thank them for their service and helping out the community. Officers get a lot of flack these days but the media and news only show the negative images of law enforcement to gather viewers but they seldomly show the positive side to law enforcement. I recently moved to Milpitas & there is an elementary school right behind us, which gave me a little bit of the creeps when choosing a place to move into because I know random people can hang out in places like that. I didn't have an alternate choice, & I had to move there because work was really close by. On the side of the house, there is a small access walkway going from the front of our street to the school's back area. A lot of times random loiterers will hang out at the school & use this access walkway right next to my house. On some nights, I can actually make out conversations of these trouble makers because my bedroom window is so close. If I coughed, they could probably hear me, if my window was open. I don't know if they were sitting right up on our fence or what. Anyway, 1 hour ago, at about 3:15 am, I was awaken by a male youth shouting profanity. He sounded like he was chasing someone through the walkway. "*$#@! come on ..." I thought, oh no, not again. His tone did not sound good. I don't know how many people were involved, but if there happened to be any guns & a stray bullet went through my bedroom wall, I could seriously get hurt. My heart was pounding & I was thinking if I had the local police station's phone #. Oh great, I thought; I don't. I did not have a phone book & my internet was not working lately. I sit up in bed, turn on my light wait a few mins, then I lay back down because I didn't hear anymore noise. Still thinking about how to get the phone #, I take a chance to turn on my computer hoping for a internet connection. As I turn on the computer, I think of calling the Fremont Police Department who might be able to give me the Milpitas' #. I call it, but it was a recording. Finally, I start Googling the Milpitas # & I hear the guy shouting again, but this time he sounded far away. I also heard a sound like a metal bat hit the asphalt. Not good. I dialed the MPD's #, & a dispatcher answered the call. I told him about the situation & he reassured me that they already had people out in the area trying to chase them down. He asked me if anyone was trying to get into my backyard. I said, no. I didn't think to call 911, because my life was not in danger yet. I just felt so relieved knowing that someone else had already called the cops. I thought I was the only 1 being bothered by all the ruckus that time, or even in the past times. Either that, or everyone was sound sleepers. I look outside my window & sure enough, about 800 yards away, I can see a Cruiser parked near the playground. An officer was flashing their flashlight into the trees. I think they had a canine. I'm trying to get a better look, & they just keep flashing their light in the trees(which was about 2-3 stories tall). Oh well, I thought, at least all the noise is gone... I guess they could stay & wait it out all night. That would not bother me. About 10 min later, I see them escort someone in the squad car. I was so happy, I was clapping my hands. I hope I wasn't making too much noise because my window was open. That just made my night . Now I can sleep in peace. Until next time, I will be very happy to report anymore mis-behaving visitors in my area disturbing me. Because those trouble makers don't want me to come out there & bust a cap, or they will be sorry. Ha ha J/K.... but seriously, the PD response time was excellent. read more

I am very satisfied with our police department. I regularly see them just driving down the streets making sure everything is OK. I wish they would do a daily patrol on Jurgens Rd and ticket cars illegally parked. They do a good job but not often enough. Every day people are parking from the last light pole to the corner where it's CLEARLY stated no parking. It makes it difficult and dangerous for people pulling out from Milmont onto Jurgens because we can't see. If an accident happens, every owner of a car illegally parked should be sued. Please please keep ticketing these morons. They'll 'get it' eventually. read more

I reported illegal dumping down the street from my house at 9:00 am. Came home at 6:00 pm and the mattresses were gone. Awesome!
