Such a quality local park (recommend to me by a local, after all). Seven Bridges has nice, walkable trails and some stairs, great for easy hiking/walks in a pleasant part of South Milwaukee. Venture in maybe three minutes and you can pick up the path that hugs the waterfront from an elevation, offering stunning views of Lake Michigan. You can also venture down to the shore itself, there are a few steep dirt paths that will take you all the way down. Definitely a great spot for being in nature when the weather agrees! read more

I absolutely love this park. Ive been coming here since i was a little girl and it hasn't lost its charm quite yet although slowly falling apart. I frequent this park often and it does seem like they are trying to keep up with damaged walkways and fallen trees as best as possible. This trail connects over to grant park as well as the neighboring golf course. Many picnic areas, walking trails, views, and two points of beach access. The stairs here are VERY steep, and the pathways are generally NOT smooth. If these are concerns for you be weary! Bathrooms are as clean as you can expect at a park, trash cans are never left filthy, and parks people as well as park enjoyers all do a pretty good job of picking up any litter or trash left behind. Passer by'ers are typically friendly, and can even offer tidbits of information about the native plant life growing around you! If you care to say hello. In the summers on the weekends this place gets pretty crazy, and becomes a park i no longer enjoy. Visitors from nearby locations blast loud music, graffiti trees, leave mounds of garbage, and totally wreck the place. Photographers and photoshoots engulf the area, making it impossible to actually just relax enjoy the park. But thats not the parks fault! It really is beautiful! Summer visitors do show a lack of respect for the wildlife, however. If you are a large group, summer enjoyer. There are different events that take place here such as the annual beer garden. Theres a pavilion available for reservations for parties and events. Fall time is also awesome here. Whether you prefer a short scenic drive to admire the trees, or prefer to be more immersed, this place has color!! Hands down one of my favorite places to spend me time. Well-kept trails but they lack proper marking so you can't tell where you are. There are maps but they're hard to follow since there are a number of off-shoot trails. Plenty of people walking around though so you'll eventually find your way to something. Great water access and a lot of people enjoying the beach when we stopped by. Also plenty of pavilions and structures with bathrooms so you're pretty set for hiking around here. read more

Seven Bridges: This scenic trail is located within Grant Park in South Milwaukee, WI. German immigrant and the first superintendent of horticulture for Milwaukee County Parks, Frederick C. Wulff was instrumental in its inception. Wulff Lodge (built in 1917), where Frederick and his family lived during his time in the role, can still be found near the trail. Although the trail is relatively short, the visuals are still worth a visit, especially in the fall. If a longer hike is desired, additional trails can be found in Grant Park. The trail includes several bridges and a stream that leads directly to the shores of Lake Michigan. I've been visiting since I was a small child and some of the scenery still takes my breath away. Biggest drawback is that it's a popular area and parking is limited (although additional lots are a short walk away). I recommend visiting during less popular hours for a more tranquil experience that might also include deer, turkey, and other wildlife sittings. read more

If you want a great walk through a natural wooded area you are in the perfect place. It won't be very difficult the paths are easy. Very beautiful. Very serene. Generally quieter. Sometimes they will have the summer series beer garden. Just an overall great spot for scenery. read more

Whether you are alone or with others of all ages, this hike is wonderful! This was our second visit, the first time with my young granddaughter and this time with my sister and our dogs too. Both visits were worth the drive and we loved the trails that took us over the bridges and through the beautiful nature that is preserved for us all. I love to collect pretty rocks for cairns and this beach has a very unique selection of them, and also an occasional piece of sea glass. But just walking the beach is nice and if you enjoy the peaceful feel of waves framing your view this one is hard to beat. Children of all ages will enjoy the endless areas to explore and your leashed pet with also love the sights and smells. Do not rush your visit but enjoy the slow pace you can take from the first bridge to the last. The trails can be a bit of a challenge if you have physical limitations, but there are also areas you can enjoy as well as a bluff view of Lake Michigan far below. read more

Although it is a milwaukee gem, and a nice little interesting hike (see the signs with prose about forests on them) its just way too popular. It's an interesting path down to the beach...and the beach is really nice especially in summer. However just too crowded to me (always! It amazes me!) Hint: make more parks along the lakefront! If you're looking for a place to go for a walk, clear your mind and even enjoy a bit of nature, especially when the leaves are changing color, then this is your place. The main trail is a little over a mile long. It's not an especially difficult trail, but I liked how there are spots where it will break off, so you can do a little side quest. There's also a small picnic area with a playground in case you want to have a fun meet up and let the kids blow off some energy. My favorite part is a spot where the trail leads down to a small beach next to Lake Michigan. You can't see any of the city or hear any city sounds. It's just you, nature and the lake. I spent a good twenty minutes just standing there and enjoying the view. read more

Seven Bridges is everything a local park should be. It is also the epitome of all Wisconsin has to offer. I Love coming here and hiking around with my dog and it is easily accessible and well worth the drive to enjoy. We usually try to come down mid-morning while the sun is still beach facing. The beach is rocky but there is a long stretch of shore that you can make your way to and then really enjoy the scene. Our pup loves to swim and this is about as close to home we can get to the big lake and let him do his thing. I also came to a unique Newaukee event here called Seven Bridges BBQ. We had a lit trail for an evening/night walk enjoying various food stations along the way, ending in a beautiful beach setup with firepits and live music. Milwaukee park systems has done a great job with Seven Bridges. There are plenty of trails to hike through the woods and the upper hike at the beachfront is second to none. This is an iconic and well known spot. The trails are nice. They are busy with pet owners, couples, hikers and just sight seers enjoying the beauty of nature. The trees are beautiful and even the fallen logs and pathways. Very pretty. You can reach the lakefront and walk there. There is an area to sit at picnic tables and enjoy your bottled water or just chat or even grill out. They have a big metal bin for hot coals to be poured into after. Parking right at the mouth of the bridge is usually packed. But there is an overflow lot just prior and there is more room and it's just as convenient. You'll enjoy this beautiful spot. read more

This is a beautiful trail. Yes, there really are many bridges. When you park your car, there are two entrances, I suggest you take the entrance on the left. Follow the bridges to Lake Michigan. Once the main trail has been completed, there are quite a few other paths jutting off this way and that. We got in 5000 steps. There are quite a few stairs too. Good exercise. read more

Wow! Such a beautiful forest. I agree with the other reviewers saying that the forest was like something out of a Disney movie. My family and I loved exploring and seeing how many bridges we could find. We also found a small waterfall in the creek. Our trail took us took us to awesome beach, which looked like we were on a secluded Island and the water had multiple colors of blue. Easy 20-min drive from downtown. If you are looking for a place to see fall foliage but don't want to drive too far, this is a great place to walk around in the fall. 1-2 hours should be a good amount of time to explore the trail, I would say. If you are confused after getting through the main entrance, make a left turn and go down that trail. You can also choose to climb up a bit to explore more (to get to the beach you will need to take some steps down though). Photos say more than my words. read more

I really enjoy Seven Bridges at Grant Park. I stumbled upon this park last Summer while driving around in the Cudahy/South Milwaukee area. I was new to the Milwaukee area last Summer. I saw Park Ave. and turned and followed it to the park. I told my niece about it and she was well aware of the park as she enjoys taking their 2 kids there. The first parking area that you come to after entering the park is the entrance to the paths/trails. There is a wooden covered entrance (see pictures). The paths lead through the park and in the lower section is where all of the bridges are located. This area also leads down to a beach area, which gets quite crowded during the Summer months. I believe it is an "unofficial beach area". Not overly crowded today though as it was pretty overcast. There was a bit of a chill in the air, but it felt very refreshing to me. I got a few looks as I was walking around in a short sleeve t-shirt while everyone else was wearing light jackets, sweatshirts or coats. Can anyone say "Spring fever"? Lol. There are paths through the woods, some bike paths and some sidewalks that wind through the park. Lots of walking, biking and dog walking area. The path that runs closest to Lake Michigan can get a bit narrow at times and also be aware there are some steep drop offs nearby on that path if you have a pet or small children with you. There are a couple map guides and a few informational boards scattered around in various places along the paths. There are also scattered benches for resting awhile or some fallen trees that serve as a seat if needed as well. There is additional parking available by the picnic area. If the first parking area is full by the entrance there is a sizable overflow lot South of the entrance between the soccer field and the tennis courts. Grant Park golf course runs along part of the walking area, so there are some nice views of the course. My favorite part is the outstanding views of Lake Michigan! At the South end of the park is the official beach, which gets very crowded during Summer months! The park is a popular place during Summer, but I have found everyone to be excellent at following the rules of walking and staying on the right passing on the left. Bicyclists are great with letting people know, "passing on your left". Quite a few people walk their dogs as well, but they are required to stay on leash while in the park. There are plenty of open spaces to throw down a blanket and relax awhile or benches to stop and maybe enjoy a sandwich, some great conversation and some fantastic views of the lake! If you have never checked it out, I think the park has something to offer for everyone! read more

This trail is located within Grant Park, which is a gorgeous park, btw. The trail has the prettiest entrance I have ever seen. I somehow felt like I was in a enchanted forest from a Disney movie. The trail leads to a ravine, which has several bridges crossing the stream. It also leads you to the beach where you can admire Lake Michigan. It is safe; there are plenty of people on the pathway. The Seven Bridges Trail in Grant Park is great. An oasis in the city! It's a short trail, but it's beautiful! I wish you didn't get to the gorgeous beach and Lake Michigan views so quickly, but you can add on a few detours if you want! The trail isn't marked (at least as far as we could tell), so there were a few times we wandered and ended up back where we started! But it was a lovely trail on a beautiful day! read more

"Enter this wild wood and view the haunts of nature." This message greets you as you enter on the covered bridge over a ravine of the creek that leads to Lake Michigan. Pet friendly, couple and family friendly this system of trails is a very peaceful and moderately easy hike, with stone trails and staircases. It leads to Lake Michigan where your pet will enjoy running and your kids will enjoy collecting rocks and sea glass. My son and I spied deer tracks leading down to the creek ravine and there's plenty of bird watching for the enthusiast. It's not in disrepair but could probably use a railing here or there. Here's some history below copied from the Milwaukee County website: "In the '30s, the trail was further developed as a Works Progress Administration project. It required a crew of over 200 Civilian Conservation Corps workers to construct retaining walls along creek beds and throughout the ravine, and to create lannon stone paths and staircases. Over the years the trail system declined, but in 1995-96, five young members of the Wisconsin Conservation Corps, trained by Park Maintenance staff, reconstructed damaged sections of the trail, rebuilt staircases and six bridges, added railings and signs, and remodeled the overnight lodge. Enter Grant park at South Lake Drive and Park Avenue. Travel about 1/8 mile. On your left are parking spaces with a path leading to the Covered Bridge, the trail's main entrance. The trail is open during regular park hours. " read more

They call it Seven Bridges, but there are TEN! What a scam! Seriously though, it's a delightful park. You can walk on all the trails with wee ones and not end up with cranky kids. Everything is nice and cool with all the shade. There's even a playground if they need a break. The narrow beach has no view of any civilization, other than other park-goers. When I went during COVID people were social-distancing for the most part on the trails, but at the beach closest to the lot was party central and I wasn't about to wade into that. All in all, a great spot, and worth the trip. read more

This trail is STUNNING!!! We went here on a drizzly, dreary day and I was still awestruck by the beauty of it all. We were on a bit of a time crunch; so, we did not get to explore all the views it has to offer, but I am most definitely looking forward to going back. I was actually very surprised at just how much there was to see and explore here for it being as small as it is. There are so many different paths and views..... We mainly stuck to the main pathway and walked down the windy path from the top out to the beach. I wish I lived closer. If I did, this would be my go-to spot to center myself and clear my head. The only knit picky issue I have is that if you are going swimming, the first ten feet of beach is filled with jutted and uncomfortable rocks. Once you swim past that, the water is relaxing. A group of us taught my puppy how to swim here. The beach also has a few entrance points with a picnic table venue. read more

Beautiful and unique large park and nature preserve including a good chunk of lakefront. Just perfect for a day of easy hiking, a picnic, a little time alone or a romantic stroll. There is only one problem, it's really popular. When the weather is nice, there isn't really tranquility here because there are too many people. When crowded there will be some irresponsible dog owners and annoying ill behaved children, the probability of course increases with the temperature. It's still beautiful in less than ideal weather and that's when it becomes a five star destination. read more

Gorgeous public park. The politicians who created the string of great parks in Milwaukee County were thinking about us. The original elected officials are long dead. We are so lucky they considered the future. I have been to all parts of Grant Park including 7 Bridges. The park was made for walking and biking. It is a beautiful place to get away from everything. You can't even hear the traffic. Grant Park stretches along Lake Michigan (it's not the only park that reserves the lakefront for the public.) You can watch the lake for as long as you want. Preserving the lakefront from "developers" who would love to build luxury apartments was the best future thinking. The people long gone who thought about us more than 110 years in the future were socialists. Milwaukee socialists were affectionately called "sewer socialists" because they were good stewards of public resources -- including waste disposal. ;-) Go there. You will love it. You can hear birds and not traffic. It is a big park which includes 7 Bridges right on the Lake Michigan lakefront. read more

A park is a park, of course, of course, And everyone enjoys a GREAT park of course, Especially if the scenery is like Grant Park. I've been to this park on a few occasions and enjoyed the scenery. From the rolling hills and bluffs overlooking the lake, to the peaceful golf course nearby. If you are looking for a little exercise, bring your boots and climb around the bridges and up some hills. It can get a little breezy, so be sure to bring layers - especially in the spring or fall. Some of the area could use a little sprucing up - like one of the bridges that has (had?) been out the last time I was there. But for an all around good time, and adventure, stop on out. Our daughter really enjoyed climbing the hills and wandering around by the beach area playing with the rocks. Escape the city for a little bit, and enjoy a little nature here without all the noise! read more
