Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley - I would love to take this kitty into my loving home.

I called Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley and had the pleasure of speaking with…read moreCharlie. I asked him for information regarding transportation for a cat that has been coming to my back patio. I explained that I am no longer driving, and I had posted on Ring pictures of this kitty to see if anyone is missing him with no one responding. Charlie was so nice and helpful, although they do not transport animals, he gave me his manager, Mayura's phone number, and suggested that I text her. As soon as I texted Mayura, she called me and told me that I needed to see if the cat was chipped. She provided me the phone number of Animal Control. Mayura also provided me the number of SNAP just in case the cat is not chipped. She mentioned that SNAP can help with the cost of having the cat neutered and vaccinated. I did call Animal Control and as soon as I am able to get this cat in a kennel. I will call Animal Control to see if he is chipped. I do believe this cat belongs to someone, because he is so well behaved. Charlie and Mayura are truly kind and love animals. I'm sure the entire staff is just as caring. Thank you for all you do for the animals. I will go to your website to donate to your amazing cause.

Potential adopters beware. I completed all adoption requirements, provided a yard video, answered…read morequestions, and informed the rescue I was driving from Albuquerque to El Paso to adopt. After taking the day off work and driving for hours, I was called when I was less than 1.5 hours away and told I was suddenly ineligible. The owner insisted a voicemail had been left (it wasn't), and the dismissive, unapologetic tone made an already heartbreaking situation feel incredibly cruel. Denying an adoption is understandable, but allowing someone to travel hours before communicating concerns shows a shocking lack of compassion and professionalism. I hope this rescue improves its honesty, communication, and respect toward potential adopters.

They made all of these requirements for the dog that I already had for 10 years. They also made requirements and said that the fencing that I had that was three layers of wire, wasn't sufficient enough. And then after I got all of the information that they needed to them, even put up new fencing, then they tell me that the dog had just been adopted. When I was giving all of my information, they said they had no other inquiries. No wonder they have dogs there for years, it's because they are flat out rude and make ridiculous requests. And then only allow people who've adopted with them to get the animals.

I can see im an outlier here, but trust me, im not making anything up…read more... Ive been visiting Dr. Martinez for almost two years for my vet needs. I dont come from money, but i will spend whatever i have to so my dogs are healthy (within reason). Having said that, i have never been 100% satisfied with Dr.M's care, and as of this latest visit, i dont think i will ever be going back. My experiences with her clinic began when my then 7 yr old female GSD mix had a serious bout of skin irritation, and after being conned out of almost 200$ by Dr. Wentworth on Montana for a 5 minute "exam", some lame jokes, and a handful of antibiotic pills, i decided to try her out. I have experience with a half dozen vets around el paso, and for various reasons, i dont go to any of them anymore (NONE of the issues are due to nonpayment on my part). Before i continue, i must give credit where it is due. The first visit i had with Dr.M was on a day she doesnt typically see regular patients, but has designated those days as surgery days, and she spent about an hour or so talking with me and looking at my dog. I was grateful, and this is the main reason why i continued to see her even though NOT ONE of the exams she performed on my dog was complete. Dr. M NEVER ONCE got a good look at the underside of my dog, or her private parts, which are two areas where i had the most concern about with her skin irritation. NEVER ONCE put her on the table in the room and took a good look at her. Also, I always got the feeling that she was afraid of my dog, who has never hurt anything in her life. i felt obligated not to rock the boat so that my dog could at least receive SOME treatment rather than NONE. Dr. M has limited knowledge of the true causes of skin irritation, and just wrote it off as another seasonal allergy. This is the conclusion i reached because the alternative is admitting that she knows how to truly fix my dog, but chooses to only attack the SYMPTOMS so that i will continue to come back. After about 6 months of BI WEEKLY visits,(and nearly 1000$ later) my dog's skin returned to normal... for a while. Didnt take more than 3 or 4 months for the skin irritation to come back but this time i decided to trust my instincts and find a fix on my own. Knowing that when a dog has an upset stomach biome it can force the immune system to go into hyperdrive AND CAUSE ALL THE SYMPTOMS MY DOG WAS EXPERIENCING, i elected not to return to the vet just yet. Instead, i researched products and came across some chews designed to readjust their gut biome and calm the immune system and all the inflammation it was causing. SHE GOT BETTER WITHOUT MEDICATION. Unfortunately, due to money restraints, i havent been able to finish clearing up the issue yet as a steady stream of the supplements is needed to properly correct the problem for good, and she can stop taking them. Now that brings us to the BIGGEST reason i am writing this review. Same dog of mine got pregnant. Gave a litter of 7. As of now they are 2 1/2 weeks old. I am extremely protective of them and i spend every waking moment in their presence. I am not working a conventional job currently, so i have the luxury of being able to care for them 24/7. Unfortunately, what comes along with being an attentive parent is a bit of paranoia when things dont seem right. My pups began having some bad, discolored diarrhea with little white spots in it. Reading up on it i found it could be nothing, or it could be WORMS. So i take a stool sample to the Dr. and tell her all about my concerns. Now, i begin to feel she doesnt actually care about anything but the money. As we were discussing the possibilities of what could be happening to them, and the course of treatment, i discovered that the "Christian" facade she puts forth is just that, a facade. During the discussion about said worms, which can be deadly to pups especially, she informed me of needing to bring them all in for visits before she could prescribe the meds. Not an issue in itself, aside from the fact that in this moment of need i only had 40$ to work with, but upon hearing that she became a bit cold. I asked her if we could set up a payment plan, for a bill that would be less than 200$, and save 7 pups. SHE SAID NO. Now, obviously, a vet making a payment plan with a NEW customer would be a risky decision, as there is no rapport and no way of truly knowing that they will make good on the debt incurred by her services. But as ive stated, i have been seeing her for nearly TWO YEARS. As a matter of "policy", she claims NOBODY gets a payment plan under her because shes been burned before. She is afraid to lose money due to non payment, but i wonder, HOW MUCH DOES SHE CALCULATE SHE WILL LOSE BY TELLING LOYAL CLIENTS SHE WONT HELP THEM WHEN THEY NEED IT?? IF SHE TRULY CARED ABOUT THE ANIMALS, SHE WOULD ALLOW EXISTING CUSTOMERS A PAYMENT PLAN OPTION IN EMERGENCIES!! I hope this helps someone make the right decision for their pets.

He stopped eating and drinking water; he looked so helpless and I was heartbroken. Then, when I went back to this "humane society" to put the poor dog down, the staff was extremely inconsiderate, disrespectful, and inhumane to myself and my sick dog. This truly made an already painful situation 100x worse. I will never step foot in this inhumane shelter again.

All ladies up front seemed busy so I looked around and read a sign that says to sign in prior to entering. So I signed my name and wrote down the time I entered. I was walking around checking the office and then took a seat and waited. Another couple entered and they were greeted by one of the ladies so I stood up and noticed someone had crossed my name off the checklist. I told the lady I had signed in so she gave me paperwork to fill out. Once I finished filling out, I felt as though I did not exist there. All the ladies totally ignored me and just kept on talking and laughing while I stood there waiting for someone to notice me and give me more guidance. I find this place to have rude staff that are not so friendly up front at the adoption office. Once you go inside to take a look at the animals, the staff are much nicer and approaches you to ask if you are looking for a particular breed of puppy. Minus one star for service up front, and minus one star for the unsanitary. Thank goodness I am here for the animals, not the people. Other than that, I saw they had mice, cats, dogs, rabbits, and possibly ferret?
