They have some outdoor seating, but seems to be a lot of smokers, so be aware of that. The ambiance inside was nice, music wasn't too loud. The big screen was a little distracting, but the inside is more spacious towards the back. They gave us free bread which was warm and soft. We got so much food that we ended taking it most to go. The 2 of us got the mixed grill for 2 and the feta burek. The burek is divine, and the feta version was great. I'd be willing to try the Spinach and beef versions too. The mixed grill was mixed haha. The cevapi and the 'flat meatballs' were the best, but the sausage one was tough and my least favorite. The fries were good too. We got the mimoza cake which tasted homemade and decent but not a must get. Another review mentioned a 4% credit card fee. Updating this review to reflect that I came back 3 years later and I gave this restaurant another shot. I'm very glad that I did. I must say that I was very impressed! They've completely transformed the food and even expanded the menu. Our server, Yelena, was very kind and attentive to our needs. The place was packed and we all ate very happy :) Great for groups and a night out with friends. To start off our dinner, my mom and I ordered the roasted red peppers. It came with a very delicious cream sauce and fresh warm bread on the side. The peppers were roasted perfectly and completed the sauce very well. They even offered more bread when the rest of our food came! Afterwards, we ordered the beef burek, sarma, and cevapi. All of these dishes were super and I would highly recommend. Great portions that can easily be shared with a few people. The burek filo dough was so buttery and flaky. Very generous with the meat filling. The meat was very flavorful and well-seasoned. Sarma was stuffed generously with the rice and meat. I also loved the mashed potatoes that came in the sarma. Cevapi was similar to other cevapi that I've had in the Balkans and very tender. For dessert, we reordered the Tres Leches and we saw a major improvement. The cake was topped with a nice caramel layer and soaked full of milk. And it was sweetened just right. I'll definitely be ordering this again and explore more of the menu! There's not too many quality Balkan restaurants around these days but Mimoza Restaurant is now #1 on my list. My sister booked the private event area in the back of the restaurant for her small wedding celebration and it was the best decision she made! Everything about the restaurant was great - the communication with the owner Mike prior to the event - the help he provided made the process so smooth. On the day of the event, they had the tables in the back set up in the way we wanted them to be for the event and we got to decorating. It's nice because there's also a small outdoor area too which is a plus. We had a mix of appetizers, mixed grills and drinks. The appetizers were so delicious (cabbage salad highly recommend!). The mixed grill was good too. Can't say much about the portion size for an individual since we had enough for our group of 35 but 100% shareable. The two people that also made the event run as smoothly as possible were Senad and Jelena- they made sure each one of the 35 guests were taken care of and all their requests were attended to! Tried this place with my friend for an early outdoor dinner a few days ago. What a great spot right on 30th Ave! I'm not going to lie, I was a bit skeptical because this place gives off more of a nightclub/lounge-y vibe when you pass by (and it's also in the name, ha). But then I realized it's just the Balkan way of expressing that you can go there at any hour of the day and have a good time. :) The crowd here too seems to mostly be from the Balkans too, so I think that's always a good sign. The waiter was very friendly and cheerful, and he told us that they served pan-Balkan food, with a focus on Montenegrin food. My friend and I each got drinks (note: $5 mimosas!), and we split the "fli" (a multi-layered crepe like dish that comes with feta cheese and pickles...sounds like a strange combo if you've never had it, but it really works!), a sopska salad (tomato, cucumber, peppers, feta cheese, olive oil, and vinegar - nicely done), and sarma (sour cabbage stuffed with ground beef and rice, and paired with mashed potatoes). One of the best new lounges in Astoria -Mimoza is a southern European/Balkan gastropub and lounge that opened up in the late spring of 2022. I ordered the Momoza special with chicken and mushroom in a wine source, followed by coffee and tiramisu. Everything was delicious. Service was outstanding, with very helpful management and employees. Mimoza took over the old Tacostoria restaurant while keeping some of the existing features, such as the bar. They have a backspace at the rear of the lounge, perfect for summer events. At the bar, they have a large TV for sporting events. Overall, an outstanding experience. I will be back. This place is fairly new and i've been wanting to try this place. Finally we tried it today, I only had an hour to spend time with my friend. They had this mix grill meat supposedly for 1 person for $25. Another option is for 2 people for $50. We decided to share the one that's good for 1 person and they're very very generous with the serving. At first look, it looks dry so we asked for sauce but it's definitely delicious, flavorful and very tender. It's my first time trying Balkan food and I'm obssessed. I wish I can name all the meat that comes in the plate- they have veal, lamb, burger i believe, the chicken thigh is very juicy. On top of that they have $5 mimosas that comes with different flavors- Strawberry, orange and something else and they have $10 margaritas Alex took care of us, he's very patient, attentive. I was there with a large group last weekend. Astoria has quite a few Eastern European restaurants that I like, so I wasn't super excited about seeing another one..., until I tried the food. I tried fried calamari, the meat and cheese board, and the chicken soup. It's hard to find chicken soup that tastes like your mom made it; well, this one achieved that level of goodness. The stock, the amount of chicken, the veggies...everything was perfection. The calamari and the meat and cheese were also great. I didn't try anything else, but I saw the meat burek and cevapi that others ordered. So I already know what I'm getting next time. I left the restaurant thinking, "When the food is this good, another Eastern European restaurant is quite welcome on Astoria." Now the service... The owner personally came and greeted us. He helped some of us pick wines. He was there to ask how my soup was and made sure to say bye when I was leaving. The server was kind, positive, and quick. So they get a five star for service as well. Some restaurants are great when they first open, and then they let it go after a while. Although I went with a Groupon, I was treated very well. The entire staff is not only courteous, but they are also very educated. Some people are falsely ingratiating just for the sake of maintaining a business, but here there is an abundance of interpersonal intelligence, poise and anything but stuffy decorum. The pepper appetizer was lovely, light and never overly sweet or salty. When you do eat as much as before, your body identifies fat and grease with more efficiency. In this case, the mixed grill was fascinating. I could not find any skin, membrane, fat or menisci. They clearly have a butcher who knows how to cut properly, and the meats were expertly cooked. Further, even the fries were not impregnated in oil. I would venture to say they even seemed baked although they were fried. The Merlot wine from Montenegro was also one of the most delicious I have tried. The servers are warm, classy and sincerely friendly. My heartfelt gratitude. read more

Ok so this was my first time going to this restaurant and I went because it kept coming up on my IG feed and so I decided to go try it out and me and old friend of mine went, the place is nice and cozy so definitely not a bad date spot next time I'll bring a date lol so anyway I decided to try some of my favorite foods from the menu so I ordered the Sopska (shepherd) salad which was super delicious but at 15 bucks kinda expensive then I ordered Flia 12 bucks not bad also super delicious then I had the Burek with cheese it was delicious and my last meal was the Cevapi dish and unfortunately it wasn't good it tasted like prepacked frozen food which surprised me considering how delicious all the rest of the food was, but I'm hoping they take the criticism in a positive way and get Cevapi from the Bronx meat Deli's they're on point and delicious or maybe start making their own and for dessert I had Tiramisu it was tasty although a bit small for the price, so anyway in conclusion this place has a lot of potential they just need to try and make some adjustments hopefully next visit it'll be a even better experience and would've gave it 5 stars but that Cevapi need to be changed ASAP hopefully next time I visit they have upgraded their Cavapi it would be better for their business especially when most people that eat this food have had it all their lives at home. I also like the service it was good the food waitress was sweet she was very attentive to our table so like I've said I'd like to eat here again just a couple things need to be addressed and hopefully they fix it. read more
