I went to Painted Tree because I had heard Anita's Famous Rolls was selling their baked goods here…read moreafter shuttering their brick and mortar location last month. Not only did I find her product, I was a bit overwhelmed with the size of the space and the amount of makers, artists and crafters selling their wares and some vendors with unique mass produced items. With over 300 booths selling everything from small batch food items, crazy socks, chainsaw art and of course lots of KC Chiefs and Taylor Swift inspired art and clothing. This is truly a gift givers paradise. I will return here first when I need a unique gift for anyone.

I first came across The KC Soap Co. booth at the City market last October. My baby had pretty ugly…read moreeczema and I had tried a number of things that only helped a little- never completely cleared it. I asked the gal at the booth if she had any recommendations or special soaps for baby eczema. She suggested their saponified olive oil soap and their Shea butter. For $6.50 total, I couldn't say no. And what do you know? It completely cleared my baby's eczema within probably 10 days of using it. I was ecstatic and wanted to shout from the roof tops about how happy I was to have finally found something for it, and it made it extra awesome that it was a local product, handmade, with good ingredients. My baby and my 2 year old still use the olive oil soap. So then I decided to try some soaps for myself and I became hooked! I swear I will never use another soap brand. I started with the Terra Spice bar. It smells exactly like a goat milk soap I used to use as a kid. I would actually be excited to shower just so I could smell the soap. The soap lathers really well. A bar lasts me about 2 weeks. After Terra Spice, I moved onto Nag Champa. I was a little scared that it might be too "hippy smelling" or something, but it wasn't. It is definitely the strongest of the scents I have tried, but I'm not complaining. I loved that I could smell the soap just walking into the bathroom. My husband has requested a bar of nag Champa for himself now too. Third try was their Black Tie bar soap. Black Tie smells like cashmere feels, haha (soft and luxurious, I guess) but there is also a distinct masculine smell to it. Not cologne-masculine though. I am 100% sure that this review is not giving their soaps full credit for their awesomeness. I really suggest going down to the market and trying them out for yourself! They also have lotion and dog soap, which are on my list to try. My mother in law requested a basic bar of soap for her dry skin after hearing my raving about it. I bought her the honey oatmeal bar to begin with and she fell equally in love. It helped her dry winter skin and she wanted to try others too (she's on Terra Spice now and loves it) I do believe we will finally try some of the fruitier smells next time. I'd recommend the Kansas City Soap Company to anyone and everyone that I know. I am seriously in love with all of their products. I wish they made even more, like body spray, deodorant, laundry detergent (which I am told is in the works!!!!!) Also, follow them on Facebook to see if they'll be at the market on whatever weekend. They're smart and stay home when it is cold. If they happen not to be there, they will take phone/email orders and ship to you.

Whenever any of the people working interacted with my husband and I there were very kind and helpful. We always were met with a smile when asking questions or when conversing.
