Small shop, but great selection of yarn, needles and books. I stop in everytime I'm in KC

I was in the area for work and wanted to find a local knitting store. Yarn Social was a gem--the staff was very friendly, and they had a good selection of yarn. I picked up a few nice skeins, which they did not mind winding for me. If I lived in the area, I would definitely come back! Come check them out. read more

My daughter & I went in for LYS Day & was very disappointed. There was a young man sitting at the register & 1 young lady trying to serve 4 groups of people. The gentleman never once acknowledged our presence in the shop. I asked if there was any offering for LYS Day & there was nothing, not even a discount on any specified yarn, as many other shops offered that day. The shop does have a nice selection of yarns, I will give it that. I have been there before when the owner was in & she was quite friendly, so I assumed the staff would follow her lead. Sadly, I will not make the trip to that yarn shop again. read more

This yarn shop just opened in the West Plaza area of KC and it is my new favorite place to buy yarn and socialize! Trish stocks the store with gorgeous wool of varying price points and colors and has wonderfully knowledgeable shop assistants that can help with anything. The best part of Yarn Social though are the social hours on Wednesday afternoons, Thursday evenings, and Saturday afternoons. Knitters all over the city come in, brings snacks, and knit and chat together. It's truly a wonderful community within a lovely shop. I know classes are starting soon and I am sure those will be wonderful as well! All fiber artists, beginner or advanced, should stop by!! read more

If one simply wants yarn and no service perhaps this is the store for you. My parter and I walked in the store and were not acknowledeged at all. Yes, the person behind the counter was with a customer. However, they were casually talking. Still, after about 7 minutes it would have been more than customary for the clerk to give a hello are you finding what you need. Crickets... Finally I did walk up to the counter (the store is not huge by the way) and after a few beats I was spoken to. I inquired about knitting looms at they don't have them. The clerk told me that they only dealt with things that are done by hand. I'm sure she doesn't even know or care what I was talking about. I will take my money and my time elsewhere. read more

After visiting Yarn Social, I'm pretending KS has a great yarn shop, even though Yarn Social is technically in MO. It's just across State Line Rd. so it's fun to share with MO. What a great shop! Trish has lots of high quality yarns, but not only that, she has the knowledge to help and guide you where you want to go with a given project, with no pressure added. Even though it's a long drive for me from So Central KS, it was worth a Sunday drive and I'll definitely go back. A friendly shop with great customer service!
