The advice we received from teachers at school to read more at home didn't seem to be helping, and my husband and I though often about holding her back a year to "catch up". After her initial assessment, we felt, for the first time, that our daughter had actually been seen. They were able to identify the very specific areas she was struggling, so we quickly had a plan to help her develop the skills she needed to bring her up to grade level. It was comforting to know we were investing our time helping her in the areas she needed it most. 3 years later, our girl is thriving in school. It's so much fun to see things click for her as she accesses the tools she's acquired at GradePower. She now loves to read and will even read out loud in church or class, and feels confident amongst her peers. GradePower has a system that works, and our time there would have been worth it for the academics alone. What I didn't expect was the amazing relationships we would also develop. The teachers there truly love my girl. They didn't see her as a "problem student" like the teachers at school. They saw her strengths and potential, and they poured into her to help her grow. I have always felt like the teachers and staff have been on her team. It truly is such a special place, and we are so grateful!

Every day when I'd pick up my son, I would see Ruth talking with a parent or myself about milestones being made. It felt like private tutoring. They appreciate kids that don't fit in the standard box and helped me learn my own child's strengths and his preferred ways to learn. My boy is totally prepared for kindergarten, thanks to GradePower. Ruth's and Mike's genuine love for kids, and teaching them, is obvious. So glad I discovered them, best summer decision!

We loved Mathnasium! It was the first time that our son felt successful with math, and the staff we…read moresuper supportive and friendly with him. On his last day, we both left with a lump in our throats. I wish our financial abilities would allow us to keep him in Mathnasium year round - I can't imagine the benefits we would see. The fact that we had only a month's worth was bittersweet. It's wonderful to know what he can accomplish, and heart breaking that this is where it ends. Even if it were $100 a month I know we would find a way to make it happen, but $500 is just a place we can't go.

The Huntington Learning Center that I attended ended up helping me get to a 32 on the ACT (33…read moresuperscore). I started out with a reasonable score, and through the flexible learning system I was put into, I can confidently say that the Huntington Learning center caused the majority of my improvement. More specifically, the tutors Roy and Dylan were my catalysts of knowledge. Roy was right by my side the whole way. Whenever I needed help--even with questions that I thought would sound stupid--he took them with languid anticipation. Being tutored by Roy was successful because we would laugh and talk about our histories while studying. Rather than coming to Huntington for dreary, mind-numbing, cathartic cramming sessions, he made the process one I wouldn't mind repeating. Not only that, but he managed to make the material interesting so that I was constantly involved. To say that Dylan was my ACT tutor does not give him justice. Somehow he managed to become a pivotal figure within my life, mentor, and role-model. On top of that, he caused me to learn an abundance of material for the ACT without even letting me know he was doing so. I was going through some rough stuff when I was being tutored, and Dylan gave me a great deal of life advice. Perhaps most importantly, he encouraged me to keep writing in my free time, ultimately fostering my love for English.
