Aggression and lack of attention span seem to be our biggest challenges. Within 2 weeks of starting BB , we had a kid that for the first time in his life got up and got ready for school on his own. Overall Tantrums decreased from a 10 to a 3. He started to verbalise his emotions (including gratitude which has never happened before!) His piano teacher commented to me that the change in him was drastic and he could make it through the lessons for the first time without issues. Basically I wish I had done this instead of wasting years in useless OT and behavioural therapy. This program actually changed his brain and results were beyond our expectations. My daughter has done swim lessons elsewhere and hasn't enjoyed them, the water has been too cold or the instructors are just not pushing her enough. Susie's swim school has excellent instructors, the pool is nicely heated and they push the kids just enough to get them advancing without leaving them with a bad pool experience. It's a 2 kid to 1 instructor ratio with up to 4 kids and 2 instructors in each class. Classes are 30 minutes long Monday - Thursday and $40 per week. This year, you had to register by Wednesday for the following week. My daughter absolutely loved going to swim lessons! It'll be tough finding another place like this during their off season.

Management has changed, and the school today deserves to be evaluated on what it is now. The teachers are excellent. Many have advanced degrees, and we have been impressed by both the academic rigor and the individualized attention our children receive. Our kids are scoring very well on standardized tests, but academics here are not limited to worksheets and test preparation. There is a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, curiosity, and actually understanding the material. I also appreciate that the school recognizes that young children need movement. They have three recesses during the day, which initially sounded unusual to me, but now I think it is one of the school's strengths. The kids have opportunities to run, reset, and come back ready to learn. The four-day school week took some adjustment, but we came to appreciate the Fridays off, and our kids genuinely benefit from having that break. For families who need Friday childcare or activities, there are also many Friday programs available in the area. We came to Innovate from Challenger, where our children were doing extremely well academically. We did not leave because we were unhappy with their academic progress. What we found at Innovate, however, was something we value even more: strong academics combined with warmth, individualized education, and a real sense of community. She loves going to school and used to be sad on the weekends that there isn't school 7 days a week. Our youngest daughter has blossomed going to Innovate's preschool this year. She is so happy there and I can tell the staff truly value her and care for her. I think because Innovate is such a new school they have had many growing pains but these haven't affected our family in a negative way. Dr. Geri has been a great addition to the school.
