I've been seeing Nicholas Obertis at Mindful Care for about two years. After losing my insurance, I wasn't able to see him for a while--but I was still taking the medication that he himself originally prescribed me. I just hadn't had an appointment because of the insurance gap, but I had enough medication left from previous fills and continued it consistently. When I finally scheduled an appointment again, they canceled it an hour before, claiming I needed to do a new intake since it had been over four months. It's extremely frustrating because if I had canceled last minute like that, they would've charged me a fee. Apparently, that rule only applies to patients. When I finally did get seen, Nicholas didn't listen. I explained that I had been taking my meds the entire time--the same medication he had originally prescribed. Despite that, he told me I had to basically start the whole process over, and reduced my dosage from 250 mg down to 25 mg. Unsurprisingly, I had a horrible month. My bipolar symptoms came back in full force. When I followed up and told him how badly I was struggling--including having intrusive thoughts--their response was: "Go to the ER." Anyone who has ever dealt with mental health issues knows how unhelpful that is. Sitting in an emergency room for hours when this could've been handled by my provider is not care--it's passing the buck. At my next appointment, the dose was slightly increased, but still nowhere near where it needed to be. I was still suffering. I tried reaching out to the office--which, by the way, is incredibly difficult to navigate--to get Nicholas's email. He had told me to contact him if anything came up. The front desk responded, "We don't give out personal emails." I wasn't asking for his personal email--I was asking for a way to contact my provider. The back and forth with the front desk went nowhere. Then Nicholas called me--but from a spam-labeled number, which obviously I didn't answer. He called again while I was at work and couldn't pick up. I emailed back explaining that, but the communication was already falling apart. I tried canceling my next appointment and--no surprise--it wasn't actually canceled. I had to email them five separate times before someone finally confirmed it was canceled. Eventually, a supervisor called me after seeing the string of emails. We had a 45-minute conversation where she told me she would follow up with Nicholas and get back to me later that day or the next. She never called me back. This is not how you treat patients, especially those dealing with serious mental health struggles. If you're looking for real mental health care, this is not the place. I've now been forced to start the exhausting and stressful process of finding a new provider in the middle of a mental health crisis that they made worse by not listening and not doing their jobs. Nicholas didn't listen. The front desk didn't listen. The supervisor didn't follow through. And the entire point of mental health care is to be heard. Instead, I'm spiraling--snapping at my kids over things like spilled milk, sobbing uncontrollably mid-workout, and feeling totally out of control of my emotions. I came here for care. I left worse than when I arrived. Long story short: I would never, ever recommend this place unless your mom works there--and even then, good luck. read more

mindful care was appealing to me for easy access to a first appointment. other than that, they are horrific to deal with. appointments are regularly mis-billed leading to lengthy dealings with insurance and their billing department. provider turnover is incredibly high - i've been with them for approximately 4 years and have had at least 7 different providers. prescriptions are left without being called in to pharmacies. both their email and portal chats are rarely responded to, and when they are they seem to be third party services providing very simplistic answers. their phone number rarely works (today alone i've called 6 times, gotten connected twice, and one of those two was immediately hung up on), and is never answered on nights or weekends. their recommendation for after-hours needs is a trip to the emergency room. i've been out of two medications for 9 days as of today, which is incredibly dangerous. i would absolutely never recommend this place to friends or family. update after hearing from tamir below: asking that i email you under a review about how spotty your email responses are is bonkers, my guy. especially considering i've already emailed you a much more in-depth version of this very review, your team has responded, and i have been fully discharged from your practice. the lack of oversight or interest in your patient's needs and feedback (while they're still actively your patient, not after) is gross. hope you improve for future patients. won't be me tho!!!! read more

The billing department is terrible!!! They cannot keep track of where payments are going and have overcharged my credit card on file. Once I asked them to send me links for payments, they are inconsistent and then tell me later I owe for an appointment that occurred months ago. The appointments were fine but you can tell that they are overworked and did not remember details from past appointments. I tried to use them for only medication management but after continued issues with the billing I am going elsewhere. read more

I've been at Mindful Care for over 2 years now. Natalia Masaar my NP who prescribes my medication is a skilled and compassionate clinician. She takes time to speak with me and is not just interested in writing a prescription. Natalia really takes an interest in her client's overall health. I feel safe under her care. Horrible billing service department. My company provides its employees with 6 free mental health sessions using the EAP service and since utilizing Mindful Care, they have been non-stop harassing me with past due bills worth almost $500 even after speaking to the billing manager and disputing the charges by providing them with the EAP code. It's been a year now since I've left my prior company and I continue to receive calls and emails from billing about money that I apparently owe but really should have already been disputed which has caused me significant mental distress. To make it worse, this morning I received a notification that my bill will be sent to collections if I do not pay it which again, makes no sense considering their own billing manager has already told me months ago that the charge was a mistake on their end. This is financial extortion and will be seeking to press charges if the harassment does not stop. read more

My daughters Pa Stephanie Liss is very good at her job. She makes sure that my daughters treatment is going well in regard to her symptoms as well as her medication tolerance.
