Dr M was incredibly condescending and uncaring. He made me feel subhuman and I did not get the impression that he wanted to help me AT ALL. I had a cervical spine injection by Dr Mambalam (sp?). All of the nurses told me that it wouldn't hurt because I would be anesthetized. Literally 3 different nurses told me that it was how the procedure was done. I waited quite a while (Dr M was running late) and he finally bustled in, then basically shoved the needles in with no anesthesia. He says "it hurts more with anesthesia" (UH BULL CRAP!). I was sobbing on the table and he was like "Let's do this another day," but I finally begged for the anesthesia on shot #4 into MY SPINE and it was completely painless. He left in a huge hurry. My Rheumetologist said that it sounds like he was in a hurry and didn't want to take the time, or that he was "testing me" to see how much pain I was in, or if I was just a pain seeker. My doctor told me to never see someone from there again.

In long After my lovely bride had a massive stroke 15 months ago, pain set in over time. Neural pain makes mild inflammation in her hip and thigh feel like torture. If she pulls a muscle it's agony (and it's easy to fall when you've lost mobility, which can lead to pulls). She gets headaches that she never used to get. Lots of aches and pains throughout. We tried a pain management clinic in Everett and all they really did was walk us through the idea that there are 3 ways to manage pain. First is pain-relief drugs, which they refused to prescribe since they're not in the same network with her primary care. Sigh. Second is active treatment, and she was already getting PT, OT, massage, and, at the time, acupuncture. So they didn't see any potential there. Third is carefully-planned rest and activity periods. She was loving getting up and walking at the time so she was getting her blood flowing more than zero. So they agreed to do nothing at all for her. We also saw a pain interventionist in Silver Lake, who consciously declares (and is known in the industry) never to prescribe. She focuses on injections and other outpatient procedures to manage how the nervous system perceives pain. She couldn't see anything that would work for her, so, again, she did nothing. We got a third referral after her hip flared up again and her primary prescribed a stronger pain med in the short term. Her primary noted that she's always chasing her pain, rather than really managing it. So off to NWPM we go. The building is new enough, nice enough. Accessible parking underneath with a proper elevator. You get upstairs and it says you must ring the bell to get in. Turns out the door is unlocked, and ringing the bell just makes them get up to answer the door. Why do they not prop the door open? Why do they leave the sign up? It's just a little piece of copier paper taped to the door. Easy to remove. But okay. The front desk staff seemed confused about our presence, at least to some extent. Not sure what to have us do, not sure who we'd be seeing, not sure what to tell us to expect. Not encouraging. We sat in the waiting room, which looks like they got it on closeout. Tags still on. Frames with stock photos still inside--not even of local scenery, just the family photos that they sell with the empty frame. A little creepy. None of the furniture goes together. We finally go back and the physician's assistant who sees us is super nice. Very calm guy, patiently goes over her whole chart and recent medical history. Walks her through tons of options, asks tons of questions, explains all the different ideas he has for helping her. First he wants to replace her meds with a patch that will continuously manage her pain, and see how that goes. Sounds great! He said he just had a patient report that morning that she found the exact same Rx to be "stunning" in its effectiveness. Then on the way out we have to have a UA test to make sure she's eligible for a strong pain med...they don't know how we're gonna do that, or who's gonna help. So they let someone else go first while we wait with all the mismatched furniture. In the end, we're very optimistic about the potential for this treatment. But every other patient and every person in the office reminded us of an episode of Better Call Saul. Odd vibes here.

I was referred to her by a PT that had seen her and had found complete relief of his symtoms after a handful of visits. Everyone will be different with how they respond... I have been seeing her since Dec '10 somewhat regularly. Dr Lindsay has put me on a path to recovery from my issues in a way that none of my other doctors ever have (I have had neck pain for 20 years that was relieved after the first visit- it still comes back but the frequency is dramatically decreased). She has a very gentle touch but dramatic results. I really don't know how she does it or how to explain it to other people. After having chiro's twist your body unnaturally into painful positions what she does is incredibly subtle. I can do things now that I haven't been able to do in a long time, and without injuring myself every time. I swear she is magic... I also sent my teenaged son to her for curvature in his back and stiffness in his hips (he couldn't bend over at the waist). After one visit he increased his mobility significantly and grew an inch! He has seen her a handful of times- his physique is completely different- and normal now. He thinks she is magic too... She is a very kind person, a great listener, amazing healer, and fosterer of holistic care. She makes great referrals to other doctors when she believes it may benefit your overall health. She sent me to see someone else after a year when she couldn't resolve my issue, and that was a great experience. I still saw Dr. Lindsay for scoliosis, hip and neck pain, and whenever my knees got out of whack. Her work always lined up the knee caps. I saw her from 2003-2006, and whenever back in town. My lesson was for a shoulder that was sore from a couple of years-old bout of calcific tendonitis that still causes me pain from time to time, and makes the shoulder and surrounding area prone to knots and other distress. Rachel started by having me walk around to observe the natural movement of my arms, then had me lay on my side, and began working on my healthy shoulder, explaining that the connection between the two sides of the body means that moving the one that is unimpaired makes it easier for the brain to accept the new ways of moving on the other side. Then she moved on to the other side, and finished by having me walk again, and showing me in the mirror the difference in how relaxed and lower the placement of my shoulders were, particularly on the injured side. The difference that was startling, because I wasn't doing it on purpose, and it was visibly and significantly lower on the injured side. All her manipulations were extremely gentle, even more gentle than the physical therapy I had originally done at the time of injury. Rather than forcibly moving or massaging, it is more of a guide for how to move, in slow, repetitive motions. It was very relaxing.

I figured that through a session I'd get a taste of it and learn something new about the body. Rachel's session completely exceeded my expectations. I've had many forms of body work and I can't remember a time when I felt such a drastic change in my body so quickly. She started by asking me about my trouble spots, and we decided to work on the alignment of my legs and feet, particularly while walking. I have piriformis tightness which irritates my sciatic nerve, and the natural turnout of my leg makes this muscle tighter, causing greater sciatic nerve irritation. Rachel first had me walk naturally around the room, and then spent most of the session introducing little movements and adjustments to my body. The movements were very gentle. As she worked, Rachel clearly explained what she was doing and encouraged me to ask any questions I had. After she finished the adjustments, Rachel had me walk around the room one more time, giving no instruction on "how" I should walk. I sensed more ease and grounding as I walked, and when I looked down at my feet, they were parallel (my feet almost always turn out when I walk). I didn't feel like I was forcing them in a parallel position at all. In fact, Rachel had me try out my typical walk, and it didn't feel natural anymore! Without pushing or forcing, Rachel introduce a new movement pattern and more ease into my body. As a final test, I sat on the floor in a straddle (my feet completely flop to the sides whenever I am in this position). I was amazed that my heels now made total contact with the floor and my feet pointed up instead of out. Again, Rachel had me try my typical position with my legs turned out, and my body told me it did not want to do that anymore! I was and am so amazed that after just an hour, movement patterns that I had since I was a kid were altered. It's been over a week since Rachel's session, and the new patterns have stayed put. I also feel like I have the tools and awareness now to maintain what I have learned. If you have any sort of chronic pain or are just looking for more awareness of your body, I strongly recommend paying Rachel a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Now for the rest of my review: After experiencing horrendous care at other OBGYN facilities in my more local area, I was first terrified to change to this location for an IUD procedure but I was recommended it by a friend. The doctor called me ahead of my procedure to answer any questions and he was super kind over the phone making me feel so much more comfortable. Day of the procedure there was a bit of a wait as it was filled with appointments. But the waiting room was nice as we all got to watch a Netflix show to pass the time. Once I was called in, the staff were very nice and very efficient to get me ready. And the anesthesiologist was so funny my nerves were completely settled before they put me under. Next I remember being fully dressed and they guided me to a low lit room with comfortable recliners that had such a peaceful ambience. The nurses were kind to answer my questions I had about how the procedure went while I was in that room which was promptly followed by the doctor who did my procedure. She came in to ask how I felt and how I was doing and I just felt an overwhelming sense of care and compassion at this facility that I've never experienced before anywhere else in medical care, I nearly cried from how happy I was. (That could have also been the after effects of the anesthesia but the emotions were still genuine). I was sent home with a little bag of overnight pads and information on my IUD device. My pain levels after never got above a 2/10, and they sent me home with a pain meds prescription for the following few days to address any cramping I might feel.
