I would like to start off by saying that my five star review was motivated by the quality front line office staff; specifically, *Amber and Mark*- your job is not easy and I witnessed throughout the years as a patient there, that you both handled things kindly and respectfully- even when people (man people really suck out there) were demanding and rude. I appreciate both of you for always getting back to me the day of- and for going above and beyond to bridge communication with the psychiatrists. Dr. Mather- thank you for being kind to me throughout our interactions as well- I appreciate your care though it wasn't always personable (this is very common with doctors) and after seeing comments, I feel that 1. Many are unaware that there is a big difference between a psychiatrist and therapist (look it up people!) and 2. I would gently recommend that patients be aware of what they are paying prior to their appointments (could minimize the angry people lol). Dr. Mather- you made sure that my med needs were met (with due diligence to my health- BP and stability on med) and I appreciate you for that. I think I may have gotten lucky on the days we had our appointments because you did take the time to make suggestions (I'll never forget- limiting caffeine :)) and knowing it was a pricey out of pocket appointment, I came prepared with my questions and kept my expectations within the scope of a psychiatrist. This place should have their licensing pulled. I had a virtual visit with Gail Bernstein and after 15 minutes of conversation, I decided that it wasn't going t be a fit. She seemed irritated and was condescending so I tried to end the call. She told me that she was going to charge me $100 for a late cancellation. I told her that I didn't cancel the appointment and that a first time meeting between a psychiatrist and a patient is a "get to know each other experience." Just because I decided I didn't want to proceed with her. did not constitute a late cancellation. She told me that I had to be on the phone with her for an hour. I never agreed to being on the phone with somebody for an hour. When calling and trying to explain that I was wrongly charged $100, each person that I spoke with told me that I do need to pay the $100. This company is a total scam. read more

This place is awful. I really wish I had looked here before choosing them. They cancelled my second appointment with them with no accountability. Yet, when I had to cancel an appointment I was charged $100 despite following their process and guidelines for doing so. I am a new patient and despite calling repeatedly to discuss this and ask for the fee to be waived or reduced they were completely unwilling to accept any responsibility or work with me. They charged my insurance 1200 dollars for an initial exam. This place is a scam. I met the nurse practitioner Jennifer Amos which I was not expecting. I wanted to actually see a psychiatrist MD. I felt uncomfortable having my doctor being younger than me. She must have been maybe 25 years old. I really wanted someone with experience. She prescribed me a blood pressure medication for my anxiety. I was shocked. Why would you prescribe anyone blood pressure meds if they don't have blood pressure problems. The medication she prescribed contradicts the asthma I have so couldn't take it. She kept trying to jam ssris down my throat when I've tried 10 different ones over the last 5 years and explained that to her thoroughly. After pouring my heart out to this lady she dismissed me and I felt unheard and left with more anxiety and frustration. I do not recommend this online therapy service. read more

Scheduling a diagnostic session has felt impossible. They are fully booked but instead of letting you know when they have an opening, they make you call them again and again and again to see if any spot has opened. Very inefficient system. I have had some issues with the billing too. read more

If I could give negative stars I would! Joseph Wurbel, DO was my doctor. To make a long story short I terminated my care with Mindpath Health due to my doctor cancelling my appointment with literally less than a few hours notice same day. Not because he was sick either, but because he wanted to make an appointment at a later date two weeks out that was 30 minutes longer. I begged his staff to keep that appointment and that I would have a longer appointment with him in a few weeks as requested too. I was left suffering and with no recourse, and to boot they don't have a customer service hotline or any way to complain. I got a new doctor with a different company a few days later within a week! My new doctor requested my medical records so I filled out the release of information form with the necessary information. I called 2 weeks later because my new office never got the medical documents I requested. I refilled them again and the SAME thing happened. It's been more than a month and now my new doctor cannot refill some of my medications without my old medical records. I have filled out the form a THIRD time and have called the office practically every day but there is no way of contacting the medical records department other than an email. I've emailed countless times and NOTHING! What on earth am I going to do? How could someone in my situation not want to give up at this point. I feel like that's what they want you to do, just give up. They don't care about their patients at ALL. Oh and this is not the first horror story I have either, it was just the final straw. I will be reporting them to the state, to the BBB, and whoever else I can so I can save at least a few people in the future from having to go through this same nightmare. 1) if you check your insurance coverage they may state you insurance is covered, half hour before your virtual appointment you may get a call stating they now can't verify your insurance and need payment up front. 2) Their virtual setup (Zoom) cannot connect because of pop-ups which is blamed on the browser Chrome. I've been seeing Steven Alden, N.P. for several months for anxiety and depression. He has figured out the correct medication to treat both of my conditions through medication and suggestion of therapy. He is always attentive, fills my prescriptions on time and has a great personality, and has appt times to fit my schedule. I think he's terrific! read more

Absurd. I had my first Zoom appointment in June. I logged-in on time, only to inadvertently enter into another clients' Zoom session! I was quickly booted (presumably by the psychiatrist, Akande Aderonke) and waited 15 minutes before attempting to enter the Zoom again, but wasn't admitted. I was then contacted by someone from scheduling who asked to reschedule the appointment (but who didn't apologize for their mistake, nor my wasted time.) My second appointment was relatively uneventful; the psychiatrist was having some technological difficulties, but we were able to conduct most of the session without being able to see one another. It felt rather impersonal, but overall not terrible. I had a follow-up scheduled for 2 weeks after that, but Dr Aderonke didn't actually submit my prescription to my pharmacy (my pharmacy had to contact Mindpath multiple times to get the prescription sent over.) Ultimately, I called Mindpath to reschedule the follow-up appointment because I hadn't even started the meds. When I called to reschedule, initially I wasn't sure if my appointment was for that day or the following week. The receptionist determined that it was, indeed, the following week. The receptionist reminded me that if the appointment HAD been for that same day I would have been charged a $50 late cancellation fee. I joked that I was happy that it WASN'T for that same day, but that I was going to send THEM a bill for my first appointment--which I had arrived to ON TIME and had somehow been let into someone *else's* Zoom session. Fast forward one month later, and I'm receiving a $50 bill in the mail for a "Late Cancellation" for my followup session. No sir. I will be contesting this late fee, and looking for a new provider. read more

TDLR: Was hoping for help with my mental health and instead was treated very poorly and billed for services that were not rendered. Threatened with collections when I called billing for assistance and questions. This has been a truly horrible experience so far. The doctor I had a tel-health appointment with treated me like she absolutely didn't want to be there. I was told that she did not have the proper paperwork that was needed in order to make a real diagnostic or give me any medical services. I had a set up the appointment weeks ago and had filled out all of the paperwork that they had sent me, none of it was medical releases. A week later I receive a bill with itemized services I was not rendered. When I called billing for support I was told curtly that she would me to collections for refusal to pay. The person could not answer any of my questions and only said she could submit this complaint to her supervisor who would call me back at "her own convenience." I was given no timeline or email confirmation that any sort of assistance would occur, I was only told that "her list is very long." The only avenue of assistance I was given was a link to a third party ethics and hr contractor that would create and submit a report to Mindpath. read more

Mindpath Health - "statement" i received telling me to pay a bill. no amount was given, no invoice, no statement. - Psychiatrists Near Me - Del Mar, California

Everything about Mindpath Health, from the quality of therapists to the scheduling and administration to the billing, is absolutely terrible. If you care about your mental health, never ever use them. I have had therapists who would fail to listen or outright mishear what I shared, and then make accusatory statements against me based on false facts that they misheard - I've even had a therapist blame me because an appointment I had with her was canceled, even though *she* was the one who canceled it without my knowledge. All I am looking for is a therapist who can fully listen and validate my feelings, give me a helpful perspective of how I am accountable for the experiences that lead to these feelings, and offer tools to help me grow as an emotionally intelligent human... instead I get horrible experiences with therapists who seem to lack basic EQ. On top of all this, I have been sent billing notices for bills I have already paid, and they don't stop. I've called over three times already, each time the individual on the other end tries to help and says they see the mistake and will take care of it... only for me to receive the same bill over and over. Mindpath Health and PCSD has been objectively detrimental for my mental health, in a time where I really needed support, and I will very vocally warn anyone and everyone to never use them. read more

I wish I had read reviews before getting into bed with Mindpath Health. STAY AWAY from Dr. Mathers and Mindpath. I switched jobs and therefore insurances. So I was trying to find a way to continue receiving Zoloft. I was getting it prescribed through a psych with Kaiser (love Kaiser, miss Kaiser). Visits were virtual, free, and maybe 2-4 times a year. My Zoloft was also about $18 for 100. I used Mindpath, set up an appointment with Dr. Mathers. The way they do it is also set up a follow up appointment a week out. So I had my meeting with Dr. Mathers, she prescribes me Zoloft and tells me I seem fine, I don't need next weeks follow up and Mindpath will reach out to cancel the appointment and schedule the next one in 3 months. I didn't hear from Mindpath. Btw, the first appointment was $350 something. I called them day of the second appointment and said hey, I don't want to be charged $50 to not show up to this appointment in about 30 minutes but my doctor said I didn't need it and someone was going to reach out. I was told to show up to the appointment so I don't get charged. So I did. I said, Hi Dr. Mathers, you told me I didn't need this appointment but the front office never contacted me to reschedule so they told me to show up. She said, well okay since we're here... and proceeded to ask me questions. I swear it took 5 minutes but also I didn't know how to ask "will I be charged another $350 for this?" and hang up on her... Low and behold, Yes I was charged another $300. For a meeting I didn't need, served no purpose, thanks to Mindpath not getting back to me and the doctor not just skipping the meeting then and there. It feels like I've been ripped off and the doctor was just trying to get money. I would've rather just paid the $50 no-show fee than show up to be charged $300. Since then I've contacted Mindpath several times, explained the situation, have been told repeatedly that someone would call me back regarding this and yet NO ONE EVER HAS. This is the worst experience I have ever had in regards to customer service. read more

I called and scheduled an appointment. Was told my self pay amount would be $235.00. I paid this amount on the day of my appointment. Now I am getting a bill saying that I owe an additional $198.00. When I called to discuss the issue, I was told that my visit was coded incorrectly and that I owe the money. My therapist advised that I would be getting a call to discuss medications as well. When I was called, the person on the other end of the line told me that it would cost $600+ for meds & to get them. This seems to be a company that is out to nickel and dime a person that they know needs to be seen for a mental illness. It was smart of me to read all the other reviews posted here so I went into my session with Dr. Mathurs with no expectation. I was very honest about my past issues with my mental illness and substance issues and explained that I am sober. I told her that I self medicate with two joints a day. At certain times when I was telling her my history with mental illness and abuse, I could see her smiling. I believe she has sadistic inclinations, based off of everything I read about her (she has one star reviews everywhere on the internet, not just Yelp). You will receive no warmth or empathy from her. She probably hates her life more than you hate yours. Imagine having gone through medical school and residency just to be rated as a one star doctor everywhere on the internet. Sad She diagnosed me with a bunch of disorders and told me to call my insurance company and admit myself to a six week outpatient program for my "substance abuse" issues. She couldn't even bother to refer a program then we hung up. I'm not that upset because she sounded pretty awful based on these reviews but I entertained the session to see how badly it could go and my expectations were met. I've had competent psychiatrists before and she's definitely a low tier doctor who finds glee in your pain and suffering. I would ask to be paired with a different psychiatrist for your intake and following appointments so you can save your time and money. BEWARE!! I would give them negative stars if I could. It is a joke that they offer medical care. There is a reason they have changed their name 3 times. Everyone who answers the phone is extremely rude. The doctors will push medicine to you that you don't need. There needs to be some way of shutting this operation down. They are dangerous and careless, do not use them for any reason. Example: I called them a week ago telling them I'm running out of a medication. They said they would prescribe the meds. 5 days later I called them again telling them I only had 2 days left of the medication, which is a controlled substance that you can't just stop taking suddenly. They said they couldn't prescribe it until I meet with my doctor. Their records were wrong and said I hadn't met with her since January, even though I met with her in March. They said the only appointment they had was 3 weeks from now. So what do I do for 3 weeks? They said go to your primary care doctor or urgent care. WTF. Also, I didn't even want or need this medication, and was pressured into taking it by the doctor. She said it was easy to get off of but after researching more and speaking to others and also trying to get off of it myself, I discovered it is actually incredibly to get off of. They will prescribe you anything, and then they won't follow up with you and will leave you hanging. They need to be shut down. read more

Similar to a previous reviewer, my experience with Maci Bastien was traumatizing. She is patronizing, disrespectful, and quick to gaslight. Furthermore their billing is predatory and they will charge you without notice. They scheduled me for a follow-up appointment even though I had notified the provider that I would not be seeking her services moving forward. I had to call the office several times in order to dispute a charge for an assessment that wasn't performed. Even though I was eventually able to get through to someone they stated that I would still receive notifications for upcoming appointments but to "ignore" them. I don't trust them at all and will be contacting my insurance and credit card company to report any activity from their clinic as fraud. read more

I finally found a psychiatrist I like (Dr. Kearney). Their billing dept. billed the wrong insurance. I called them and my insurance company for MONTHS trying to get it adjusted. No one wants to pay $400 for a 15 min video call especially when they have good insurance. My insurance company just needed them to submit the claim for reprocessing. They stalled and kept giving me the run around until the time ran out. Insurance couldn't even see where they submitted the claim in the first place which makes me think they didn't. My insurance said okay just pay it and we'll reimburse you. I immediately go to pay after my insurance company, their billing rep, and myself get off a conference call. Guess what? THEY SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS! Would have been nice for her to mention this on the phone 5 mins prior. Had they dealt with this issue when I first contacted them it would have been fixed. If I could give zero stars I would. I've never dealt with someone so unprofessional in my entire life. Dr. Mathur tried to corner me into answering questions like she wanted me to answer them. When she didn't like my answer she would ask at least two more times. She wouldn't listen to the reason of my consultation. She wouldn't listen to my answers she only wanted to diagnose me with her premeditated diagnoses and anything that didn't fit she would tell me it's an excuse. She is a bully and is not there to help. I hope no one ever goes through what I went through. We are seeking for help and instead we get bullied into a diagnosis. To start, let me say I gave Mindpath and Dr. Mathur very fair chances and the benefit of the doubt for 4 months, seeing her regularly every three weeks or so. From the jump, she explained I needed to cut all "negative" things from my life, including cannabis, alcohol, and caffeine. I told her that was unlikely, but I cut back significantly on all to give it all a try due to her explanations. She prescribed me an antidepressant with no issues (the medication I'd been on for my previous out of state doc). The thing I think that's odd is her "rotation" of apts to get prescription refilled was always more often than needed. For ex, instead of giving me a month's supply, she would only prescribe me 3 weeks of medication at a time, down to the day, assuredly so I have to see her more often. I had both an initial intake visit and a follow up (ie, first official apt) when she LMK she'd be traveling out of the country for vacation, but that I had enough medication until her return. I also traveled during the period, and forgot my medication at home. When I called her office they didn't have a current prescription for me - which is odd, as that's the only service she provides and I had seen her twice! - and the covering physician refused to fill it for me. They refused to let me see another doc in their system or contact her for confirmation - which, understood about regulations, and vacation, but it's very dangerous to have a lapse in antidepressants. The person in her office told me my medication was a controlled substance (it's not) and when I questioned him, he said "ok, I'll Google it... oh I guess you're right." I eventually had my former PCP call in a few days of medication to get me thru. When I asked Dr. Mathur upon her return why this happened, she not only had zero remorse for the situation, but when I asked why she hadn't called in a script at ANY point, she said I wasn't out yet. THEN when I asked why she had continued to book me for apts knowing I had medication already, she wouldn't answer the question. I had told her in my last state I'd been recommended for ADHD care, but needed to find a CA state doc. She told me she couldn't provide that service, and said she "didn't have anyone to refer me to". Really? So I called about (no exaggeration) 40 doctors until I finally found one 30 miles away that would test and diagnose me (+ as they're so busy, took me 4 months to get in). That doc did an intake and in very politically correct terms, told me just to see him moving forward, as she could have performed these services for me. I would talk to my regular therapist about the treatments and she confirmed it was all very odd, and after a few visits with Mindpath, suggested I find a new psych doc. Also, one time Dr. Mathur called me 4 mins BEFORE my apt and asked why I wasn't on the Zoom yet. Because my apt hadn't started yet? All in most "apts" with her we're about 3 mins total, I have longer convos with my deli butcher. All in, I think Dr. Mathur has awful "bedside manner" and very low emotional maturity. She's incredibly intelligent and truly knows her medicine, but there's a lot more to being a doc than that. read more

Not only did we not make this appointment, they have us for another "follow up" appointment with a charge also. Steve Alden is a WONDERFUL psychiatrist, but the office front management is a joke. - It is IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of anyone at the office. You will almost always be sent directly to voicemail, and more than likely not receive a call back. I have had to desperately press every phone extension possible JUST TO TALK TO A REAL HUMAN. - It once took me 2 HOURS to get 1 medication refilled because they were not returning my calls or my pharmacy's calls - They are VERY QUICK to Bill you for almost anything. Dr. Preeti Mathur sucks. She blindly forbids the consumption of coffee, tea, cannabis, and alcohol (despite no history of abuse). She also forbids me from getting off Lexapro despite the fact that I've been on it for over a year and no longer have the depression or anxiety symptoms. She also won't give me more than 30 day's prescription which means I constantly have to keep coming back and giving her my money. She also asked if I'm "trying to become a woman," instead of just asking my gender identity, so I'm guessing she's never talked to a trans person before. read more

I wish I would have read reviews prior to making an appointment. Years of consistently bad reviews for multiple reasons?! Also wish I could give zero stars. My biggest issue has been getting prescriptions refilled. A prescription that is to be taken consistently or there can be very serious/negative side effects if stopped abruptly. The first time this happened I spent half a day back and forth making phone calls between my pharmacy and CP. Each person was "blaming" the other and said it wasn't their fault and I should call the pharmacy or I should call the doctor's office. For anything to get accomplished I had to yell out of complete frustration for anything to be done. The second time this happened it was a THREE day process. Dr. Mathur never sent my prescription to the pharmacy, which she said she was going to after our Thursday 12pm appointment. I ended up calling the doctor's office Friday morning to follow up because I knew what I had to deal with the first time. I called and left a message in the morning and finally got a call back at 4:30 the evening. Which required the front desk girl to go back and forth for another two hours to get nothing resolved. I had to call back and email Saturday to their emergency line. Dr. Mathur has showed up 10 minutes late to our 5 minute appointments. The last appointment she asked how my medication was going and named two completely different medications than what she prescribed to me?! Obviously she was looking at the wrong patient's information. She requires you to meet every few weeks to check in and get refills prescribed and then the whole cycle of getting anything accomplished starts over again. Being able to reach an actual person to talk to from the office is a joke as well. There is never an immediate person to talk to. You have to call and leave a message to hopefully get a response back within the day, if you're lucky. Read all the reviews regarding billing. So curious for what that is going to be like. Fingers crossed. Looking for a new provider today as I refuse to have my mental health professionals cause more issues and stress than I have without help - the purpose of seeing a specialist if this is the case...? They'll put you on hold for hours and when you finally get through you end up talking to a machine. Cruel. Called the cops on me because I'm was non verbal after having me on the phone for almost an hour. I could tell she understood what was happening. That was just a power trip. Making me repeat myself over and over again when I was struggling to speak. If that's what it takes to make you feel big you're in the wrong business. I was referred by my primary care doctor as a "low income option" for therapy. From the beginning the process was sketchy and I should have saw the signs. I told the phone rep up front I only wanted a place that took my insurance. Then I waited 3 months for a virtual appointment. I was never quoted any prices and I didn't ask assuming that it was covered. The day of the appt I got a text to pay my $15 copay upfront so I did via a link. Figured that was it. Then I have a message from the office that my therapist was having computer issues and I would have to have a telephone instead of a FaceTime appt. Fine. I was never told pricing or how long my initial introductory appt was to be. The therapist Dr. Tabb kept me on the phone for an hour , she said she was "getting info to see if we were a good fit". She also told me her computer was broken and she had no way to take notes quickly and to be patient with her because she was physically writing down all my responses. She admitted I was her 9th call today and that she was getting the patients all mixed up and at one point half way through she actually told me she thought she was talking to a different patient. She had a bunch of questions, some standard and some baffling.. like if I believe in God and since I did that "was very good... and eliminates a lot of other questions". She talked a lot about herself and sometimes I wondered if she was hearing me at all. She gave me the worst advice that I should "aim low in life so that I don't have too high of expectations and anything good that happens to me is a bonus". And she just kept going down her list of bizarre questions, seemingly not hearing anything I was saying, and never mentioning that every ten minutes I was being charged another 100 bucks. At the end I told her I didn't know if she was a good fit for me and then when the office called me back to schedule my next appt, I told them I was not interested. Now I get this $520 bill in the mail that I have no money to pay, for a one hour ridiculous and quite unhelpful phone call. I really wish I had done research but I've never had therapy before and didn't know what to expect and I trusted my primary care physician... and what a mistake. read more

Rude staff, rude Doctors and the worst customer service experience I've ever encountered. Run, dont walk.

On September 6th at 10:15 in the morning I had received a call from Kim in regards to making an appointment with Dr. Leslie in order to get a refill on my prescription. This morning on September 20th around 9:35 in the morning, I called and spoke with Kim to set up an appointment not only for my refill but for an adustment or re evaluation in my medicine because last night I had a severe breakdown and had been contimplating ending my life. She placed me on a brief hold. When she came back she told me that they had me on a "termination" list and were about to let me go as a client. She said they had attempted to reach out to me several times. I explained that I had only received one message from September 6th. Kim became combative. I expressed my concern to Kim about being terminated and that in all my years of being with Community Psychiatry now Mindpath Health, I have never been told that I was about to be cut off as a client from not responding a week and half later especially when I was reaching out for URGENT help. Her response to me... " Well maybe you would'nt be in this situation and feeling this way had you had responded sooner and kept up with your appointments." The lack of empathy, training and customer service is evident in my experience with Kim. Her condescending treatment, and lack of emotional I.Q says alot about this office and this company. I called back to speak to an office manager. While Im sure I will get a call back, I'm pretty sure the staff have already come up with an excuse and their version. Dr Massion, you are a Godsend, a saving grace.... But the new management that this clinic is under, is unacceptable. I have never been met with such disrespect while in the dynamic of a customer to business interaction... It makes me so sad to say this, but I can never go to this clinic again. They've wasted so much of my time, just while I was trying to get to see you again. And I don't seem to be the only one. Dr Massion, thank you for everything. You are amazing. But please please please try to find a position at another clinic. You are too good to be associated with this clinc. Thank you again Dr Massion, I hope that one day you will be somewhere else so that your patients can connect with you again. You provide life to people who need help, including myself. I really like my psych and the therapist I had. I still meet with my Psych and she is really nice. She is caring and listens to my concerns. It's always a pleasure to speak with her. And I have made much progress, as stated by my family and close friends. read more

I visited this clinic back when it was called community psychiatry, i was seeking ADHD testing, and the communication was horrible and dehumanizing. I chose Dr. Mathur, but at no point during intake was I relayed that she could not diagnose for ADHD. I entered the session attempting to be receptive to her feedback and share my experiences, and was hoping to schedule for a test. Instead, she diagnosed me with bipolar based on experiences not symptomatic of mania, nor holistically saw me as a whole person. She then proceeded to prescribe me a parade of medications that she described i had to, "fail," before allowing me to meet with the adhd specialist. At this point i was confused, but took the medications that gave me odd side effects and continued to disrupt my life. On top of this communication continued to be harmful, grueling, humiliating, and frustrating. I finally saw the ADHD specialist, was diagnosed, and ran away, and was able to fill my medication through my PCP. the front office staff were a saving grace, and seemed validating, as well as my overall experience with the ADHD psychiatrist once I finally saw him (I cant recall his name) Like most other reviews, avoid this place entirely. read more

Marci Bastion was discriminating and abusive to me because of the medications I've taken for 10 yrs with official diagnostic paperwork. She treated me like a drug addict and gaslite my official diagnosis' on our 2nd appointment together as well. I found out later that she is a mid-level Nurse practitioner. Clearly not the the kind of credentials to be treating people with complex psychiatric needs and medications like myself. Don't go here and avoid this woman because she was absolutely awful to me and switched personalities like Jekyll and Hyde, psychologically manipulated me and treated me like I was lying about everything. There are no words for me to explain the trauma I experienced with this woman within this 30 min appointment. The berating of who I am, the constant interrogation of my words. Just awful. My previous review, written 2 weeks ago was deleted and replaced with a 5 star review for her..directly underneath my new review I think.. The worst experience I've ever had in the 10 years I've been treated for my psychiatric needs. I had to call my previous psychiatrist who moved up north to refill my meds.
