I am impressed that they are learning Biology, Geometry, Geography and not just math and science. They are specific in the field they are studying. They take intriguing field trips that we talk about for weeks. The educational experience is very integrated. They love helping their peers and getting to know the children who are younger and older. Children are respectful and quiet. They are fully absorbed in the learning experience. We have been at the Elizabeth Academy for 3 years now and I only wish we had found out about it sooner. I wish all children could have an educational experience that is as magical as the Elizabeth Academy. In response to the two other reviews... My daughter who is in seventh grade has muscular dystrophy. She was a new student in sixth grade and was heavily encouraged to return in seventh grade. She, in particular, loves the school. For the first time in her life she is not the only child who is different. She is one of two children at the school with a severe physical disability there are also several children with profound mental disabilities. There are many, many children with mild disabilities of varying types. I know that some of these children are there on scholarship and I have seen them return year after year. The school tries to accommodate therapies within the school day. We have been at several schools in two different states. I have never had an educational experience with my children as good as the Elizabeth Academy. I think they do a fantastic job.

The confidence in learning is so evident. They were able to spot a reading difficultly in my child and intervened early and now my child is thriving in reading! Something that I really prize is how the program leads to my child being kind and caring for others. The joy they have in helping the younger children by reading to them, spotting the classmate that doesn't have someone sitting by them and how excited they are to tell me about helping a fellow classmate with a difficult lesson.

However, the bullying problem is OUT OF CONTROL and the teachers and faculty seem to foster this type of environment which is wild. They definitely do not cultivate a culture of treating others who are different from you with mutual respect and acceptance. It seems like they encourage in-groups and out-groups to form and if a student is not within the in-group then that child will face a tough time in school, while the teachers and faculty will dismiss that anything wrong is actually going on. If you care about your child's mental health, then STAY AWAY FROM CANYON RIM ACADEMY. Their academics are above average but it's not worth it.

We were fortunate enough to get into the school on their waiting list but are very happy we made the switch to CRA. If you walk down the halls during school you will see orderly classrooms and involved parents. No school is perfect, and the facilities could use some upgrading, but the staff is amazing, the teachers are happy and the kids are learning. The school also makes every effort to encourage thinking, problem solving and creative learning.

They view all children as capable individuals, who as natural learners, learn best through play, having hands-on experiences and making their own discoveries. They understand the power of listening and talking and recognize the value of engaging young children in meaningful conversations as they explore the world around them. They know that it is through language that children make friends, share ideas, learn from others, and gain knowledge about their world. They recognize the importance of social competence and provide a classroom community where children make friends as they work and play cooperatively together, learning to respect others and to value themselves. They nurture a love of physical activity, encouraging young children to be active, to have fun, to play outdoors, and to respect nature. They appreciate how physical play promotes motor and healthy social development. They encourage a love of fresh vegetables and healthy eating habits through work in our onsite Esther's Garden. They involve teachers, parents, and children as partners in the dynamic learning process. While the Playful Learning Preschool is a secular program, they explore universal values through the lens of Jewish traditions and celebrations. Children are encouraged to share the culture and traditions of their families. They use the Creative Curriculum, a research-based, comprehensive curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning. Its design enables children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills.
