Before I came to Mineola Auto and met John (the owner) I had a couple bad experiences from mechanics who tried to rip me of. But since I came to Mineola Auto 2 years ago I was so happy with their service that I stayed with them, and I plan to go to them as long as I live around here. I've been going to John for the past 2 years for all my maintenance and repairs for both of my cars and he never let me down. John is a very nice and helpful guy. He is also very knowledgeable and honest. When I have a car issue I call him and he tells me when it is a good time. I go then and he takes care of my problems very quickly. His staff is also always courteous. The estimates I got at Mineola Auto were always very accurate, bboth time and cost wise. I had no bad surprises. I had a good experience at Mineola Auto. I dropped my car off for an inspection, and the owner called me back with some issues I had pointed out. The front end was making a noise and my gas milage was considerably worse than when I first for the car- John helped me out and showed me the issues. Turned out I had a bad ball joint and a minor leak in the gas line. He walked me through the potential fix and was very transparent with the costs and work that had to be done. Money is tight so it was nice to be offered a student discount, and he told me my car was going to be ready the next day. Lo and behold, the next morning all the work had been done and he showed me the faulty parts he had replaced and the damage. I had a nail in my tire and was headed to Winthrop University Hospital, where my Mom had just been admitted. Needless to say, I was a bit frantic when I pulled in, as my tire pressure was dropping. I drove in and explained my situation and John dropped everything he was doing. John and another mechanic quickly patched my tire, gave their blessings and sent me on my way. Cannot overstate how good this place is. I've been going there for years. Recently, my AC went. I brought it in, and John, the owner, found the problem and then told me that it should be covered by warranty. He gave me my car back without even charging me for his time in looking at the car. I had another issue, which I went back to the dealer for. They wanted $2100 to fix it. No joke, Mineola Auto Care did it for $500. They could easily have charged me triple, and knew it. John has been very cooperative and takes the time to explain in detail what needs to be done, which I am so grateful for as I am not familiarized with cars and I am on my own. Excellent. Brought the car in at 9:15am and it was done by12:30pm. He showed me the old parts and the boxes for the new stuff. Used good materials. Not after market Chinese stuff. These guys are criminals and thieves. They stole items from my car and they kept telling me they didn't. I came back days later and sure enough they were sitting behind the counter. The guy was using my ipod. Plus, while I was there another person came saying they stole from them. That is twice in one day. Not good. Do not trust them. read more
