The hunnybunny has done some silversmithing, pottery (pix added to this review), and painting, and we've done a cooking class together. There's a lot you can use to distract yourself from a particularly heavy snowstorm :-) The classes have been well planned and leave you with a nice artifact to commemorate your new (or growing) skill. The teachers personalities vary, so not all students will click with all teachers, but the centre seems pretty responsive in allowing switching between classes.

For a Sunday morning, they had a room with art class, children's programming on computers, and then the Antique room where the cooking class was. The class had about 9 students and there were tables and chairs set up. When it was time to cook, the kitchen got a bit crowded with 2 stoves and people standing around the middle counter space. We had to maneuver around others to find cooking utensils and bowls. But all the cupboards and drawers are labelled so it wasn't too difficult to find what you're looking for. The knives were sharp and they have lots of cutting boards. There are also lots of pans and some deep ones to hold lots of food. We cooked, ate, and then cleaned up. They even had containers for those that wanted to take some leftovers home. The venue is convenient with parking and also accessible by walking or transit. It's an older building as the washrooms are dated but everything was clean and in working order. I would come back and take a class here again.

I found the space unusual because it was all around, which I think would make it harder to coordinate a play because there is no front or back. They seemed to make it work. The acting was decent and I love seeing the passion of the students. Definitely will be here again for events. And for the student, smaller class sizes, more one on one attention, close to downtown and LRT and an easy to maneuver campus make it worth the extra cost.

I decided to complete all my courses online and it was great so I didn't have to go into MacEwan except to write exams or do a presentation. The exams were after work hours so it was convenient for me working and taking courses. The buildings were easy to find classrooms and I only ever bought food from the Tim Hortons and it could be a long line. Most of the instructors were fairly good to reply back promptly when I had questions or concerns. There was one instructor that wasn't very good and when I shared my concerns with the Department, they were very open to hearing my feedback. The only issue I had was with the admissions department who act like they don't care about providing decent service and walk around with the ho hum attitude.

Students work in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere. People work in the school as one big family, helping and encouraging one another. The students can leave Still Life sets up and work on them continually every time they come. The gallery is located throughout the building and is a sumptuous display of artwork. The public is welcome to come in and browse/view the works any time a class is in progress. The visitors are free to talk to the individual students and ask questions regarding their art. Workshops are of numerous types. We have in class drills during regular classes so that we may work altogether on the same theme during that one class, example: painting trees or a face. When I moved to Edmonton and started school, that all changed. The teachers were fantastic, passionate about the subjects they taught and very understanding. Not only that, but they have a separate office upstairs for mental health and ability services. The school is LGBTQ+ proactive and friendly, and as far as I knew and what I experienced, most all the students were willing to be friends with others. Kids from all different interest groups would get together to play magic the gathering, no matter the social status. I still am very close with my friends I met there, and it's been a few years.

This is a relatively new building on the University of Alberta campus. It includes some classrooms,…read moremeeting rooms, seminar rooms, offices, and more besides. Many health care educational offices and courses are taught here. This building is also known as the LEGO building because of the bright colours of the side facing the LRT. It is easily accessible via the Health Sciences LRT station or by foot from elsewhere on campus or the Kaye Edmonton Clinic nearby. The University Hospital is also across the street. New and reasonably well maintained, this building includes some nice art and seating areas as well as well-functioning elevators. It is occasionally easy to get lost in the maze of offices (for example on the 5th floor), but otherwise it is a pretty neat building.

They can do several simulations at the same time -- where a remote operator can control the body of the patient's reaction to what's being done to him/her -- it's about as realistic as it can be with the state of the art technology. Students and residents become really "into" the simulations and it becomes an excellent learning situation. Plus, there are fantastic classrooms, really great study areas, and a multitude of locker areas. AND they have a small cafeteria which makes hot meals for you. AND they have a Starbuck's. AND it's connected by pedway to the Medical Sciences Building, is 10 feet from the Health Sciences LRT station, and is across the street from the Walter C. Mackenzie Health Sciences Centre. A lovely building, with great colours. If I ever want to just go somewhere peaceful to read a book, this would be the place.

The McMullen Gallery is an art gallery in the University of Alberta Hospital and it's really great…read morethat people visiting the hospital have the opportunity to view art, attend events here, and occasionally purchase gifts. My most recent trip here was to view items from a Christmas sale, but I've also been here to browse more traditional art shows, or to attend lectures or events. It's nice as it is very transit accessible, available to all those visiting the hospital, and near the University so it's convenient for student/staff/professor populations as well. The space isn't overly large, and is often run by Friends of the University Hospital volunteers (depending on the nature of the event). Usually you can visit by paying a donation or for free, but some special events may have cost attached and sales obviously have a higher pricetag depending on the nature of the art on display/for sale.

The McMullen Gallery located in the University Hospital is an absolutely wonderful place for…read morepatients and their families, as well as hospital and university staff or anyone else who happens to be passing through, to go and enjoy art and a peaceful respite from the stress of daily life or being in a hospital setting. I used to work in the Clinical Sciences' building and would go to the McMullen Gallery on my lunch breaks. More recently my father-in-law was having surgery, so my mother-in-law, my husband and myself had a long day of waiting and trying to pass the time. The exhibit that was on was fantastic, featuring two local artists, and when we were finished looking at the art, we sat down in the chairs around a low table and just talked and looked at magazines. For an hour we were able to think a little bit less about what was going on and have a nice, calm place to be in without feeling at all like we were in a hospital. Patients were coming through as well and I think that's a really nice thing for them to be able to do. It's also worth noting that the gallery offers free drop-in art classes every Thursday from 2-4pm. If I lived or worked anywhere nearby I would love to take advantage of this. I also noticed that they are offering meditation classes! There are plenty of pamphlets and art magazines laid out at the desk.
