I've been coming here for more than 12 years. They have a great variety of pups and kittens for sale. I originally bought my 12yr old Shiatsu from here and have no complaints. The boarding kennels are very clean, well looked after and at a decent price. I've board my dog here from as little as 2 days to 19 days and never had a problem. They have a great selection of fish.I've had my dog trimmed here more than 50 times and they do a great job! My biggest complaint...and its been an issue ever since I stared to use the boarding services. With the amount of animals boarded they somehow need to open just the boarding drop off/pickup times. The weekend hours are especially short and the limited hours have caused us to change departure and arrival times from being away for work or vacation. A good example; I've arrived back in town at 6pm on a Sunday to find they close at 5pm, so my dog sits there until 6pm the next night..with work the next day its the only available time to pick the dog up and another days boarding. I've even had to adjust flights so I can get there when they open to drop the dog off and get to the airport as quickly as possible to make my flight. I'm not sure making a separate entrance with after hours pickup is the solution but I would have paid $10+ to pick up/drop off my dog a few hours either side. read more

I recently had my golden doodle bathed and groomed here. When she came home, she had severe clipper burn on her rear which became red and irritated. The dog was constantly licking and annoyed by it and it was down to raw skin. She also has a cut on her ear edge. This is inexcusable. They indicated she behaved herself during the process so it wasn't behavior related. I cannot recommend this place or take my dog back. My dog deserves better. read more

My family and I recently purchased two puppies almost three weeks ago. They both have ear mites and yeast infections , one has roundworm and the other Giardia. The puppies live two and a half hours away from each other. Each dog has diarrhea and tinges of blood in their stool. We were told that the puppies came from a breeder in Iowa (Sara Hulshof). The veterinarian that signed off is Cari Van Zewden. I'm starting to question both the breeder and store's practices. By the sounds of it, Giardia and roundworm (both are parasites) are challenging to treat and it's highly contagious. I feel awful for our puppies and don't want anyone else to receive sick dogs. We're struggling with the vagueness of the process and health of the animals. I hope that we didn't support a puppy mill. read more

If you don't know about puppy mills please contact the Humane Society. They have done many investigations on them. I would not recommend this place at al. It's sad what happens at puppy mills. The mothers never see grass they just live in cages their whole lives pumping out puppies for profits. The guy that runs the place claims USDA kennels are good. USDA are the same people who manage livestock. A dog should not be treated as livestock. Look up reports online and you will see what happens at mills. read more

Boy when I read the description of two big dogs taken out to poo and the one that didn't was kicked and hit repeatedly. I was horrified. Mini critters owner's excuse was - every dog HAS to go to poo, but these two were "nervous".... What a great way to help them get over their nervousness! I want to thank the person who posted this on Yelp. I would NEVER take a pet there. I've been there and seen animals being dropped off. They cried, had to be dragged in. They were terrified. i would like to give a 0 rating, however this platform will not allow for it. i recently took my fur baby to Mini Critters on 49th in Sioux Falls,SD to get groomed. My son picked up the puppy from there and his fur was cut less than a 16th of an inch, so i made a call and they informed me that they would squeeze him in the following day to properly groom him as the notes in his file were not followed. So i brought him back for his amendment haircut. i went to pick up my poor little man and he was bloodied all over, they informed me that they had knicked his ear,in which once the bleeding was stopped by me at home i noticed his ear was severely knicked and the top of his head was bald and missing a large chunk of skin. i called the store asking for a refund or rectification for such horrible results in which i was dismissed. i would be very leary of bringing your loved animal(s) to this establishment. read more

My niece bought her puppy from here and my sister also bought a dog a few days later. My nieces dog hasn't stop bleeding from his his rectum and my sisters puppy is dead. When brought to the attention of the business they were told they do not cover what ever was wrong with the dogs. Bottom line is this is not a good place to get your pets. I've heard multiple stories about people who have bought puppies from them and they've had nothing but health issues and one has even died because of a heart defect. I was in the parking lot of Five Guys when I looked over and saw a staff member outside with 2 large brown dogs (some type of hounds) he was yelling at one of the dogs to go to the bathroom and when it went to the door, because it wanted to go back inside, he hit and kicked it repeatedly. The dog then whimpered (which I was able to hear from my car across the street) and cowered away with his tail between his legs. I then yelled at the staff member from my car telling him to stop kicking the dog or I would contact authorities. The staff member said "I'm not" and then kicked the dog again before going inside. I then went inside of Mini Critters and spoke to who I believe was the manager about what I had seen, and he stated he would "see what happened and take care of it" and then went to the back room, however I then saw the staff member leave the backroom and return to work a few minutes later. That staff member should be fired! Anyone who abuses animals should NOT BE ALLOWED to work at a pet store, especially one where they sell, board, groom and train them! read more

They have super cute puppies but the puppies have a lot of health issues due to lack of proper care is my guess. I'm writing this review because my mom had bought a puppy from this place. The puppy was super lethargic and timid when I had brought it home. We took the puppy to a vet and they said he had hypoglycemia. The "health guarantee" that they give you for this 2000 dollar dog doesn't cover hypoglycemia. My mom had to do what was right for the puppy so she took him to the vet and signed over her rights so that a rescue could pay for the cost of what it was going to take to get this puppy to live. 3000 dollars was what she would have had to pay. As much as my mom wanted to she could not financially afford that as she just paid 2000 for the puppy in the first place. All I am saying is do yourselves a favor.. save a heartbreak. I've read the reviews and it looks like I am not the only person that has had a problem with this spot read more

NOT RECOMMENDED. Attempted to charge for services that we did not authorize when we boarded our beagle. Also neglected to feed our dog. Mark the general manager said he didnt know why they didnt feed her and didnt know why the bathed and groomed her. TERRIBLE customer service. First the manager snapped and said "we did feed her" I asked what kind of food and why they fed her something different and why the customer service gal told us they forgot. He finally called back said sorry not sure why we didnt feed her and not sure why we groomed and bathed her. What happened to her while she was there? NEGLECT. read more

I kept trying to give this place chances, but got burned every time. The staff are always rude. Always. A friend and I asked about the adoption process through their shop and the person we spoke to (I'm guessing it was this infamous "Ryan") was very unhelpful and snarky. He then proceeded to throw a few derogatory "sweetie"s and "honey"s in while we were speaking. I also watched him insult the teenage girl who was working at the register, it seemed to be whenever I went in there this guy was insulting someone. I kind of pity him as he must have a terrible life to go around belittling others for fun. DISGUSTED. I left my cat here for 6 days (they charge for a day after 1pm) and they charged me $18/day which is more than every other place in town, and they did less for my cat than any other place in town would have. When I came to pick up my cat, the store noticeably smelled of animal urine. The only employees manning the entire store looked like high school students. They took ages to bring her out, and when they did, her tail was puffed up. She was terrified. Judging by the thickness of her fur and how readily it shedded off when I pet her once I had her safely back in my car, no one had so much as touched her since I left. Her fur smelled so strongly of urine, I had to rush to the nearest store to buy cat shampoo. When I arrived to pick her up, I noticed a board that I had not seen when I dropped her off. The board stated that "petting" cost an additional $1, playtime cost an additional $10, and if I had had a dog, taking it for a walk would have cost extra as well. I doubt she was fed enough, because while I was taking her home, she meowed the whole time. My cat is SILENT except when she is hungry. I am so disgusted by the "service" mini critters provided for me, for over $100. I will NEVER board an animal there or purchase any item from them EVER AGAIN and I recommend you don't either. In addition, when my friend who came with me to pick up my cat checked online for mini critters reviews, there was a whole pile of despicable reviews hidden underneath a new layer of 5-star reviews. They have plenty of unique merchandise like pet ice cream, NFL merchandise, and cute boots and sweaters! Mini critters also has employees with expert knowledge over pet food and proper nutrition to keep your pets healthy. Another unique cork is how the employees always are more than willing to help you carry your stuff to the car! Mini Critters is owned by a family who has a passion for animals. The owner Ryan is a piece of shit. My girlfriend and I went in looking to buy a puppy, then later picked one out. The dog was originally 1500 dollars, but was supposedly discounted to 750 due to it being deaf. We then had him tell us that we were paying 870 all together for the puppy and supplies. Come to find out 3 months later he had charged the original price instead of the 750 we had agreed on. I tried to call and speak with him, he said he was busy and that he would call me back. But hours and days pass by and still haven't heard from the bastard that ripped us off big time! He and his staff are very selfish and rude to customers. Not to mention the environment the animals are kept in is completely unsanitary and down right cruel. Mini critters has lost yet another costumer.
