It's neatly tucked into the back of the Village Arcade (?) and really cozy after a chilly morning. The shop is small with a couple of seats inside and plenty of seating outside in the covered arcade. The owner was so lovely and one can tell that he loves his job (and the food he's serving). Got the Mediterranean veg sandwich with hummus, which was filing, along with a nice cup of chai tea :) If you're looking for a nice veg/vegan place to try and have just finished a walk around here, do come check this place out. I recall it being quite busy as a youngster but custom seems to have dropped. This is probably due to the amount of Turkish restaurants that have opened up in the area, which is uncountable. Nevertheless, I do pay the occasional visit, and on my last few visits, I have had the lamb chops, which are brilliant. I past buy today in my car, and the first thing I thought of were those chops. So on our way back through Newington Road, we stopped off and I got those chops, nothing has changed, it's great. I also just discovered that it stays open up till 5am!!

Positives were they gave a small salad, chutneys and pickles unlike many other local establishments such as Chini Chor who want to charge for salad, chutneys etc. So next time won't order vegetables from here but will order parathas but suggest you ask them to ensure staff wear hairnets to comply with food hygiene regulations.

The bill is always a pleasant surprise with rock bottom prices but the quality and taste are consistently excellent. They also do an amazing range of Indian deserts and dried goods. Despite being always popular but we've never had to wait for a table. Park in the surface car park on Dominion Road as its only a short walk and the free bays on the street are for 30 minutes only and are patrolled frequently.

The ambience in A Toca is reminiscent of the kind of bar / restaurant / cafe you might visit at a Spanish holiday resort; it seems to always be almost full, and comes across as pretty authentic. When we were seated, we were presented with olives, bread, pâtés and a kind of Spanish cheese. This was an unexpected and delicious touch, although was soured somewhat when we were charged for it at the end of the meal. I understand this is common practice in Spain and Portugal, but can't say it's something I've come across in London before! The menu is extensive and a meat eater's paradise. Unfortunately it's not so great for vegetarians - when I asked the waiter what dishes would be suitable he looked horrified and said they don't really cater for veggies (a bit of a faux pas in London). 20 minutes later he came back from the kitchen and said they could do me a vegetable pasta, which although a little odd (it included carrots, courgette and pasta) was surprisingly delicious. The meat dishes looked filling, although I noticed one table whose portion of beef looked to be 90% fat. From a drinks perspective, you can expect to get a decent enough glass of red for just a few pounds. The service largely felt a little lacklustre and slow until they seemed to remember we were paying customers, and I wouldn't rush back to A Toca. However, from the laid back and authentic atmosphere I can see why it has become popular with regulars.

The place looks alright, your usual first wave gentrification beer hall type thing. The food isn't terrible but simply not worth it.
