We were group of four with large size luggage. Both quotes & bookings are done via email. Once you receive a quote and are ready to pay there are several payment options offered. I used PayPal. Both pickups were easy. On day of pickup at LHR I got a text alert from Blackberry & the driver regarding where the car was and estimated arrival time. The driver met us at the suggested meeting place at LHR on time. Ditto Southampton cruise terminal pickup with a drop off at our London hotel. I'd booked with Blackberry if I'm ever in London again.

It was an even better price as the car turned out to be an immaculate E class AMG. Mr (Imperial) Ambassador you are spoiling us. So sleek was this black bullet that we nearly missed it in the ever darkening London nights. So far so good and I may upgrade this review to 5 stars if the service remains excellent and the night time prices are good.

I have used this company lots over the past few years and they are always prompt, friendly and know exactly where they should be going. I know that should always be the case with taxis but in London it's a rare thing when it comes to mini cabs. Even when other companies have quoted me an hour to get to me these fellas have said 'no problem' and been there in 10 minutes. At the London Field Day festival, they helped me and my friend get home for a snip of the cost of the other places near Victoria Park and we only wait about 15 minutes. They are good if you are a single female traveling too. Thank you Diamond Taxis - you are my favorite!

To be fair, they are good for local pick ups and drop offs. and actually good for going to airports. but their problem is the pick up from the airport plus the very arrogant attitude of some drivers, one of them definitely had some anger issue! Last week I booked a cab from abroad to be picked up from heathrow. when I arrive at the baggage reclaim, the cab driver calls me and says that he is going to take another 30 mins. I'm actually a patient person so I just said ok. I go out to the arrival and call the driver after 30 mins, he said that he will be late for another 5-6mins, and tells me to come to the 'drop off' area, which I had no idea where it was. I asked around dragging my suitcase, but no one seemed to know, so I waited outside the arrival near the taxi area for another 15 mins. still no sign of my cab turns out that the driver didn't have any credit on his phone and couldn't call me. very professional. I found out that he was on the departure level drop off. I had to go 3 floors up, he is still not there, takes him another 5 mins to appear in front of me. He did apologies but the tone of his voice is not especially sorry and just made excuses rather angrily. His driving was dangerous, rough and speeding way to fast. I expected some sort of discount, as I waited almost 1 HOUR after an 13 hour flight and used my mobile to call the driver about 5 times. but he refuses to give any discount. I called the office and they spoke to the driver, tells him to give me 2 POUNDS off. I thought they were joking but they were dead serious. I lost my energy to argue and just paid him 45 pounds that he did not deserve. When I turned away, I could hear him saying something rude to me. very disappointing as a loyal customer NEVER EVER AGAIN.

I had to call again and only then was a driver sent to me, 15 minutes late. The car was a banged up people carrier that had obviously been in a car crash recently. The seats were terribly uncomfortable. The driver did not have enough petrol and had to stop to fill up the car. When I was to pay the driver, he just took my £45, wished me a Merry Christmas and drove off. It was only agreed to cost £42 and giving the poor service and wrecked car that I had to put up with, I should not have been paying full price or leave a tip.

I got the hang of it very quickly, as I knew I would, being from a huge metropolitan area. It was so much fun exploring all over London via train. And once on the HopOn/HopOff bus. I decided to take a taxi from my hotel to the EuroStar train station for my journey to Amsterdam. It was a good experience. The hotel concierge set everything up for me the night before and the taxi arrived promptly. It will always be funny to me seeing people drive on the opposite side from us in the states. I like the London taxi for its spaciousness. There was plenty of room for my long legs and my luggage; I love that I did not have to share a cramped space. There was a lot of traffic, so that made the ride a bit longer than expected. But, door to door service from destination A to B is always appreciated!! I secured a reservation for a classic room @105 pounds per person that included a full Ramsay style breakfast. We stayed two nights. Having stayed six nights in South London, I splurged on our last two nights in Camden before returning to Florida. My 13 year old daughter and I enjoyed two regal nights in this authentically designed and decorated room located just above the impeccable dining experience York & Albany. Our room overlooked the skylight above the dining room, granting us a bird's eye view of the plates below. I felt perfectly situated. No detail of the townhouse is overlooked. The key and lock seemed to be original to the late 18th century building. The crown molding throughout made me feel like a princess. All of the windows opened, even in the large bathroom, three steps below the bed and dressing areas. The wardrobe came from the same period with a mirrored front and wood hangers. I could imagine myself a Duke being dressed by a valet. Downstairs, at a table just outside the restaurant, I enjoyed a glass of wine, watching for my friends from South London on the C2 to join us for a stroll to the London Zoo. It was a glorious day. The service at York & Albany is sincere and friendly. I enjoyed my first pimm while I munched on tiny fried whitetail fishes. OMG keeps coming to mind. I'll dream of returning for years to come.

Yet while the former is very easy to find, the latter is less obviously advertised throughout the station. Let me tell you where to find it: Platform 12! There's the Heathrow Express, which is advertised at the airport and station a lot more clearly than its sister the Connect. The Express goes directly from the airport to Paddington and takes roughly 15 minutes, whereas Connect stops at multiple stations, picking up people/dropping them off along the way. Follow the signs for the Express, and you'll be just about where you need to be for the Connect. The trains are clean and you're not dealing with the general crowds of the London tube, so it's a relief when you're carrying luggage and just want to sit back and relax a bit after/before a flight and during the commute. I decided to give both a try to see how they compare with each other, and I'm glad I did. The Heathrow Express is even nicer, but that's also reflected in the price tag of 22 pounds; the Connect is about half that price, but also takes about twice as long. Either way though, you'll have to drag and carry your luggage around a bit to get to the platforms, but it's not as extensive as taking the tube and carrying them around flights of stairs. If you're traveling solo, both the Express and Connect are the better financial options over hailing a cab to central London. However, if you're in a group, hailing a cab and dividing the fair could still be the most convenient and worth it.
