Inside was pretty spacious and well upkept and the workers seemed fairly friendly. Gas prices were about average for the area as well. I have passed by this old Convenient Food Mart store many times but finally made this stop after a recommendation by a close friend who is a big "foodie!" I knew a Meatloaf sandwich was going to be on the list so I went directly to the counter to pick one up, I also picked up a country ham sandwich and bottled water to eat in the front seat of my truck (there were no open seats available inside due to the local crowd occupying all the tables and seating), they were very busy. There was plenty of help, everybody was very helpful and friendly. The steam table had plenty of options for lunch or you can choose to have a deli sandwich made but the Meatloaf is piled high in a bun and it packs all the flavor you expect from a farmhouse kitchen table! I will be back soon and make this a regular lunch stop to try some of there other menu items when I am working in Shelbyville again!

The decorations were very cool. So we decided on a coffee at the coffee shop in the Market instead. I had a holiday Mariah Cherry, white chocolate and cherry latte. It was so very good with a distinct cherry flavor and piping hot. My hubs had an americano that he enjoyed. Service was good and it was fun to sit in the market and watch the few folks that ventured in while we drank our coffee. Such a unique space for a downtown hotel lobby attachment. Check it out.

The variety of items on the shelves is actually pretty funny and some of them look like they have been there for 40+ years. The couple that runs the place keeps a notebook with all transactions hand written in it. You can get homemade deli sandwiches on the super soft white bread that sticks to the roof of your mouth when you take a bite. Nothing fancy but it's nice to get lunch for 2 for less than $10 anywhere these days. They serve breakfast as well but I haven't made it in to try that yet. They also sell fuel but you can't pay at the pump. I would find that annoying some places but it just makes sense here. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of places left like Shelton's.
