We did the Candlelight Ghost Tour and had such a great time! Our guide was so fun! We started at the Pillsbury Club which is in the gorgeous Pillsbury Mansion across the park from the Minneapolis Institute of Art. The wood work inside is beautiful! At the appointed time we loaded our trolley where we got our "ghost glasses" and our candles and away we went. We were entertained with stories of the old mansions and landmark around downtown Minneapolis. We got off the trolley at a couple of stops to see some of the haunted places and hear the stories. It was a chilly night but the trolley was warm and they also provided blankets to keep toasty. I will be going back for some of their other tours. If you are new to the area, want to do something different for a date night or just want to learn some fun history about Minneapolis, I recommend this tour. It was so fun! read more

We enjoyed this tour of Minneapolis. I never knew this city had so much history especially with the mills. Learned a lot about the area, the parks and lakes and architecture. This is a family owned business and they do a pretty good job of running. The tour guide was very informative about the places we were passing by. They offer a variety of tours, but we opted for the narrative day tour. It was a good amount of time for the tour, not too short, not too long. There is street parking and also they said you could park at the church across the street. The pillsbury house is the meeting point. It looks like they do tours as well but i didnt inquire about it. They do have ADA accommodations as well. read more

We had such a fun and informative time on the Minneapolis trolley tour! The guide was full of energy and did a great job involving everyone by asking questions and keeping the whole group engaged. I also loved knowing we were supporting a family business -- Mom was actually on our tour, and the mother-in-law greeted us so warmly as we entered the mansion. Terrible tour. The guide had to keep reminding us he was gay. Then a chunk of our time was spent listening about a Netflix show about Versace. Imagine that. We get it. You're gay. Nobody cares. Stick to the script. Ran multiple red lights. Super cheesy. $150 for two people was $149 too much. We ended up grabbing an uber back to our car half way through the tour. Lesson learned. read more

The Christmas lights tour was so fun! Traveling by trolley past some Christmas decorations with historical bits peppered in the ride was such a fun way to learn more about Minneapolis and its Christmas traditions. Our tour guide was so much fun and was very informative. Before going in the trolley, they have an assortment of snacks and drinks for purchase to bring on the ride, including THC drinks. The waiting room was also jam packed with lots of arcade games, pool, and fun decorations. This was a great Christmas excursion for anyone to take part in! read more

We did the Paranormal Investigation at the Pillsbury Club last night and we were so excited as we have done several investigations with other groups in the past. When we arrived, we were already turned off - it was September 4th and they already had Halloween decorations in the front yard as well as in the windows of the mansion. (Don't get me wrong, I am the biggest Halloween fan, but this just immediately made it feel really cheesy) We then entered into the Mansion and it was a complete circus! Music was blaring, chaser lights around the ceiling, a complete hodge-podge of items for purchase (from soaps, to spider web key chains, to Christmas ornaments). Not only did I come to do the paranormal investigation, I also wanted to see this beautiful old mansion in all of its glory. You couldn't even see the beauty of the home because of all of the obnoxious decor. Skeletons, disco balls, runner lights, halloween decorations - it really didn't evoke much confidence for a well run investigation - this felt like it was going to be something much more kitschy. We grabbed a little something to eat (nachos and chicken fingers for $40) and waited for our investigation to begin. 9pm rolled around and we were invited upstairs to begin the orientation. We had two investigators and around 18 participants. We were taken into a room on the second floor for a quick intro and briefing. The investigator read a script from her phone and offered a bit of instruction on the investigation equipment and we headed to the first room for our visit. The music from downstairs was still so loud and disruptive and really annoying. Additionally, they had more rope lights in the widow so the room was well lit and loud. Not a great start for a paranormal investigation. Now keep in mind, I have done many other investigations and they do their best to create an environment that allows for an experience that lets the participants listen carefully, learn, and hopefully have a paranormal experience. This was really tough - given the music was so loud (several people on the tour including the investigators commented on how distracting this was) and there was a "ghost tour" of the home taking place out in the hallway with a tour guide and several guests. I was also really disappointed in that the investigators knew very little about the home itself - part of what is interesting in an investigation is learning about the history of the property. More about the owners, some of the lore of the building. Someone asked a question about the story of the "Seminary Boys" and it was clear they had no idea and fumbled through a partial answer but no real history. At a minimum, know enough to at least make it feel like you've been in the building before. Additionally, we moved from the second floor of the home to the basement and eventually up to the 3rd floor. Thankfully they have you sign waivers because they have you take the narrow servants stairs in the back of the house - - that's not the concern, it was the boxes, plastic shopping bags and other items on the stairs blocking your path that made it dangerous. So many things could have made this experience so much better. Now, I will say, the home was very active, we had several very interesting experiences and overall, I think this COULD be a really amazing paranormal investigation. If you are just wanting a fun, silly night out that feels a little kitschy and you're not really looking for a real paranormal experience - this might be the tour for you. For $59, I was expecting a much better experience. You've got something amazing here but you need to rethink how you present it - the kitsch is not it. I really wanted to love this and I would love to go back because the paranormal experiences were great but the atmosphere and investigator experience were not great. read more

My mom got tickets a bit in advance to do the Candlelight Ghost Trolley Tour in Mpls. When we arrived we seen a check in sign in the back of the bed & breakfast. We got checked in and were told to wait in a room for the tour to start. They sold concessions at the check in (snacks, soda, water, thc canned drinks, souvenirs, etc.). In the waiting room there were table and chairs (seating) as well as a few arcade games and a pool table. After a while we were greeted by the tour guide to board the trolley. Most people rushed to fill in the back because the window covers come up. We ended up starting the tour about 15 minutes or so late because we were waiting for another group to arrive. Once we started the tour guide/driver was super professional and funny. He was very entertaining & told the stories of the locations we visited very well. We were able to get off the trolley at a few of the stops to hear stories as well, which was nice. We seen places in South Mpls, Nicollet island & downtown. We ended up getting back to the starting location at 830, so the tour didn't last a full 2 hrs. Overall entertaining though. Street parking, wasn't too bad finding a spot. read more

The bus tour/guide were great. He was very knowledgeable and had a lot of energy when telling the stories. The lower stars are based on the arrival/check in process. The meeting location is inside an old mansion with no signs or directives in the front of the property. Once inside, there are two host who just stood there without informing the arriving guests on how to check in for their tour. I was one of the first to arrive early for my tour, but because no one spoke to me I was one of the last to grab a "boarding number" for my seat on the bus and ended up in an awkward seat. There was a red-vest male employee who doesn't greet guests, comes off very snotty and I only noted seeing him speaking to his friends that were visiting the tour. When we arrived back from the tour, he just quietly stared at us as we all filed back inside. If he is to stay in the greeter role, he needs to be retrained on customer service plus how to inform arriving guests of the evening process. This soured my night, but again the tour was great. read more

My 3 adult daughters always drag me on a ghost tour on our summer girls trips which I mostly tolerate, but this one was different. First off, it was a trolley tour so I got to see some of the city. Secondly the tour guide was highly entertaining. Loved him! 10 out of 10. His stories were great (loved the slide show tv accompanying his tales) and wow can he navigate that trolley in the traffic. But most of all, we got the opportunity to tour a mansion at the end of the trolley tour, (for an extra $10) and that tour ended with wine at a speakeasy. 10 out of 10 for ghost tours. I got some of my fav pics ever of the girls holding their candles in the dark mansion. Might even go on another tour which is saying a lot for me. read more

Their new location, which is different from the currently Yelp posted address is : 100 E. 22nd Street, Minneapolis. There is no signage on the outside of the historic home. Inside it is very nice with a bar coming soon. The trolley tour for the scenic narrative tour is an 1 1/2 hours. The tough part is the seating on the trolley. The benches are very close together and no really long enough for a couple to sit comfortably. I spoke with a lady following the tour mentioning how uncomfortable it was to sit with my knees pressed hard against the bench seat in front of me. She was about 5'5" tall and said her knees were the same. I also talked to a person sitting on the long bench facing into the middle of the bus. She said they could really only see the things to the right side of the trolley because it was too hard to try to turn all the way around to see things to the left. Hearing the history of Minneapolis and also current information was interesting. Seeing different locations quickly as we drove past was good, however, having one or two steps would dramatically improve the quality of the tour. I understand it would require a longer tour time, but getting up and out to take photos could also greatly lesson the discomfort of the 1 1/2 hour consistently crammed on the benches. Entertaining and delightful and both he and his business partner made us feel so incredibly welcome, both on the tour and in your lovely city. So often you walk past things in a city and I have no idea what you're looking at, and a tour like this is the perfect way to learn a little something while also being entertained and welcomed. We did the graveyard ghost tour and it was great! Interesting stories on the way to the cemeteries we visited. The second/final stop is at an old cemetery where we walked around and could try to communicate with the energies there using the EMF readers and dousing rods provided. The tour guide also had a spirit box along. Guests can also bring their own equipment (I brought my pendulum). There was a lot of energy at the final cemetery and we had several conversations with different spirits there using the dousing rods and pendulum. Super fun! The tour guide stressed that guests must be respectful of the cemetery and its residents, and our group was. It was a really positive experience for all of us from what I could tell. The guide was great and the trolley was clean and had fun decorations. BRING BUG SPRAY though!! Lots of mosquitoes at the cemeteries at dusk! It would be nice if there were some provided for guests. read more

If you want a great alternative to ride sharing, driving, or walking, this is it! What a fun way to get to your destination while getting a lesson on Minneapolis history. We stopped at Chloe for dinner (Canopy stop) then hopped on to the stop at Maison Margaux/ Hewitt Hotel then to the theater district and then Mackenzie Pub by the theater district before heading home in Loring park. We went on the Candlelight Haunted Trolley Tour and it was everything I wanted it to be and more! It's a cool way to see an unexpected side of the city. The additional "Gertrude's After-hours" tour of the mansion was a highlight and is highly recommended--100% worth the extra cost. The tour is spooky but not frightening and there are no jump scares. I would have felt comfortable taking my kids--they're both on the morbid side. (As John says, it's a haunted tour so don't expect any happy endings.) John is a delightful guide and you can tell that the entire enterprise is a labor of love. I'll definitely check out another tour when I'm back in Minneapolis and would love to stay overnight. We were on the very 1st lake if the isles historic houses tour!! I couldn't have been more happy with it! Homes we've seen all our lives but now so much more interesting .
