The system asked me to fill out all of my information, including my insurance and credit card details, which I completed through the portal. I joined the virtual waiting room and waited about 20 minutes, but I had to step away, so I canceled and made another appointment for 2:30 PM. I joined the waiting room again and waited until 2:46 PM, then called the office to ask how much longer it would be. At that point, the receptionist asked me to verify my insurance and said they could not see it, even though I had already submitted it through the portal. That was very frustrating. Then they said they could not find my file at all. My issue is not even about paying out of pocket. I had already provided my card information and was willing to pay if needed. The problem was the poor communication and disorganized process. If there was an issue with my insurance or file, someone should have contacted me instead of leaving me sitting in the virtual waiting room with no update. This whole experience was ridiculous and added more stress when I was already not feeling well.

What I find especially frustrating is that I later received a follow-up call--not to address the misdiagnosis, but to ask me to come back in for another visit to check my ear. Overall, this experience felt rushed and unprofessional, and I do not have confidence in the quality of care provided here.

My issue occurred days later with billing. I provided my debit card when paying the co-pay, the representative asked if I wanted to use another card for the initial $27 and final $120.92 payment that would occur days later. I gave her a credit card for both payments and she told me she never uploaded my debit card. Long story short, she used both cards debit and credit to take the final balance which was drafted 3 days apart for $120.92 twice. I don't mind paying my bills but don't like to be double charged. I called and was told I may get my money back. It's been almost 45 days and no refund. I finally called again and a nice rep says she is initiating my refund. This was one of the most frustrating experiences. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. There needs to be an easier way to resolve these types of issues.

i came into Stone Springs Hospital for outpatient Hip Replacement Surgery. The outpatient check-in…read morewas great, courteous and efficient. the prep room process was great. the operating room staff and surgical process was outstanding, i was informed because of my blood levels that I would remain overnight for observation and s blood transfusion. I went to the recovery room after the surgery woke up in pain and the staff provided pain meds. Shortly ZI was brought up to my room. The day nurse started the process for my blood infusion. They did not do the same verification process that was done for earlier transfusions. The nurse did not stay in the room to check for any potential reaction. Layer she came in and said it was done snd disconnected it. At shift changeover an hour later, the night nurse noticed the blood bag was not completed. The night nurse confronted the day nurse about it. (in front of me) The night nurse decided to reconnect the blood to my IV. no alcohol swab was noticed bring used on the connections snd I was not sure if the blood bag had been hanging there for an hour if it was still OK. I was not consulted or asked. I clearly see the lack of effective communication between doctors, nurses, technicians, staff and the patients. There is a dry erase board in the room to ensure important info is passed and noted. NOT BEING USED. It is not kept up to date with progress, plans or goals. Even the doctors names are wrong. It appears that the patient is not included in the process and communication between the staff does not happen. No one has the complete picture of the planned care, for now or future. They need help with cross communication and statistical documenting patient progress. The care is good, but the patient has to be involved to make sure there is s complete picture. If you come here (Stone Springs Hospital) for services, you must stay engaged for your own good!!!

First of all the front desk staff cannot figure out how to run insurance properly. They never…read morebilled my secondary. I never received a bill. I was just sent to collections. UVA collections say the will call you back in 24 to 48 hours. Frequently it was longer. I left instructions on the voicemail multiple times that I worked nights and could not be reached until after 3pm. They would call at 10:30. Over 100 phone calls resulted in them telling me the insurance was billed correctly (no it was not). one of the reps asked me to send the secondary insurance to HIS PERSONAL EMAIL!!! That is a HIPAA violation. By the time they finally got the secondary information they did not have time to bill it correctly. The wrote it off and sent it to a bill collect despite my efforts. now let me tell you that i went in and had little issues initially with the practitioners. They sent me for test THAT THEY NEVER COMPLETED THE FOLLOW UP despite multiple calls From me. My wife and daughter went in. They were treated very differently. Basically they were not listened to and talked over. The practitioner there also started spouting off religious view points on stuff that was neither asked for nor relevant to the issue. we will never be returning to this or anything else run by UVA.

I was sent here because surgeon believe I have a blood clot. After having surgery 5 days prior. Leg is swollen to the point looking like Popeye's forearm. 2 hours later. Still waiting. Now. 1720. No organization. No color tagging white to blk based on alignment. 1725. They just took a patient for a chest xray that came in 30 min after me. Sorry I have to laugh. Despite explaining the situation, the clinic refused to adjust the bill, citing a generic form I signed. This was their staff's miscommunication, yet I'm left paying for it. If you go here, double-check everything with your insurance yourself -- verbal assurances mean nothing. I would not recommend for anyone.
