Since you're looking through reviews of this meeting place, I'm sensing there are doubts and some hesitations. Well let me start off by saying that is completely normal, taking on a whole new lifestyle in a whole new setting is extremely intimidating and can take some time getting used to. When I first walked into Weight Watchers, I was unhappy and uncomfortable with myself, I didn't like the way I looked and felt I wasn't the only one who saw me that way. There was a cloud over my head that I wasn't good enough, that I would fail at losing weight; or at anything for that matter. I'll tell you this right now, walking through those Middletown doors saved my life and changed the way I see the world forever. As soon as the staff noticed my uncertainty of joining, they called me over with smiles wider than I could ever explain, with the kindness and caring nature you won't find anywhere else.
When first signing up, there are some fees that come along with it; however, if you sign up during the seasonal changes they will waiver the initial fee. At the start of your journey, you will start with a paper tracker and you will have to pay $13 for each meeting; especially if you are under 18. I do suggest; though I started this program at 17 and couldn't use "eTools"- I found manually writing each thing I ate was more disciplinary to my mind than using the internet. However, to each his own, and eTools is an easy online website where you track what you eat with the amount of Points Plus you receive. I switched over to this method after about 6 months on program, and I found it to be a nice transition. Now I'm sure you're saying to yourself, "What the heck are Points Plus?", great question! If you choose to use the Points Plus program, you will be given a set amount of points each day that you must eat up in food, for example, I have 27 I am allowed to use. Along with these 27 points, I have a weekly 49 points that I can use anytime I wish, though many recommend to use 7 each day of the week. I'm sure reading this, you must be a little confused and fearful, but I want you to know that this is exactly how I felt when I first came to Weight Watchers. Though it is a lot of information to take in, at the end of the first two meetings Crystal, the leader, will ask you to stay with her and explain more in depth the program. Not only Crystal, but the entire staff will help you with any questions that you may have about program, cost, food, anything!
The meeting room is medium size, there are many chairs though to choose from, and this is where the real magic begins. I highly recommend coming to a meeting each week, because it's encouragement and support even when you don't think you need it. Especially at this Weight Watchers, the members are enthusiastic and helpful for when you are struggling and can't seem to get yourself back on track. I remember having a 4 pound gain and wanting to break down, that's when I needed the meetings the most; not only was Crystal there, but all the members were there to raise me back up. Those who have made goal weight share stories that are extremely inspiring and remind you that it is possible, that you cannot fail if you apply yourself. The placement of the building is pretty convenient and right in the heart of Middletown, it isn't hard to find at all and there are many available meeting times. Yes, I did give this venue 5 stars; however, there are some flaws like all places do have. I live about 20 minutes away so I do have to travel aways, and if you don't like commuting or traveling too far I wouldn't suggest going to this particular Weight Watchers, unless you live in the area. As well as travel, Weight Watchers is quite expensive which is the downfall for many members that don't continue the program; it takes a lot of time and investment. If you plan on only sticking with it for a few months to "get off those extra pounds", I don't suggest this particular area nor do I really suggest this program. The reason I don't suggest this area is because it is right near a Friendly's and next door to a pizza place; there are far too many temptations with the location. Honestly the temptations never affected me per say, however everyone handles weight loss differently and some need to stay away from fast-food places and restaurants.
Overall, Weight Watchers is a wonderful and life-altering program that takes a lot of work and dedication, but with a meeting place like Middletown, it makes the small victories sweeter and the rough weeks easier. With caring staff and friendly members, each meeting provides stability and keeps you on track for long-term success in weight loss. I highly recommend Weight Watchers of Middletown to anyone who is willing to change their lifestyle and perception for the better, for the healthier. Because not only will you gain a great meeting place, you'll gain a family.
