Special event November 27, 2021 tree lighting. The isn't always blocked off to street traffic but it is best to walk!

The first thing I recommend is to NOT drive and expect to see everything. The drive is 20 seconds long and you can barely see over the other parked cars. Try to take bus, subway, or walk here instead. Traffic can be bad on weekend evenings. Every year is a little different, and each year is pretty good. The block isn't that long. It starts at Morris and ends at Tasker. You can pretty much see everything in 20 minutes. I gave 3 stars because I hate the traffic and cars. There's no point to coming here if you don't walk. I enjoy this the most when there is the festival and the street is blocked off for pedestrians only.

Merry Christmas eve! Miracle on 13th street definitely delivered the Christmas spirit with their beautifully decorated houses that lit a whole South Philly Street. My neice and nephew enjoyed the sparkling lights and seeing Santa Claus in the window as well as Snoopy, Minnie Mouse and Minecraft. While exploring the different houses, I was able to converse with one of the neighbors who contributed to the miracle on 13th street and he stated that he's been putting up his same display for over 10 years! Wow Miracle on 13th street is definitely a miracle and a wonderful thing to see neighbors on a whole block come together to bring joy to us fellow citizens. It's fun for the whole family and if your ever in the neighborhood come check it out! What a way to bring community engagement and neighborhood camaraderie!

A spectacular beautiful display of of holiday splendor. Visiting Miracle On 13th Street is something my entire family looks forward to. We make a big plan each year to ride through Philadelphia, Center City and South Philly where most of the holiday lights action is. The street is lovey and the neighbors are friendly. When it's warm enough the neighbors sit on their stoops (steps) and watch the happy visitors go by or the chat about the holiday. Drivers understand most people coming through driving very slow to see everything because there aren't many places to park. So their patience is greatly appreciated. Keep in mind to look up, down and all around because there are decorations from the basement window to the third floor. THANK YOU TO THE RESIDENTS OF 13th STREET!!

We drive through here every year, it's beautiful!! In times where the city of Philadelphia has become unrecognizable to me, this place always stays the same and I love it. I love that an entire block of neighbors can come together and make something so beautiful for others!! Truly puts you in the Christmas spirit. I drive around the block several times sometimes with my dogs because they like it too. If you can get the chance to walk the block instead of driving I'd highly recommend that.

This was a spur of the moment trip. Happy we decided to check it out this holiday season. Cute little street with majority of the houses lit up for the holiday. I find it awesome that most of the residents living here participate. That's what makes it so special. And best of all, it's free! The great thing about it being a side street is that you can drive slow enough to see everything in detail and take pictures. Reminds me of Shady Brook Light Show in Yardley but obviously not as large. Definitely worth visiting every year!

What a site! I love the community aspect of this display! It's a block of wonder, and captures the holiday joy. You are able to walk around, up and down to get a good view of each decoration and to take pictures. The houses go ALL OUT and there is some great detail at each house. It does get packed, and if you're driving through, expect traffic and keep slow. People are encouraged to roll through to get pictures and enjoy the wonder. Overall - great for all crowds. Families love to come and take their kids. The tradition has been going on for some time now, so for some it's a walk down memory lane. Definitely something to do while taking in the holidays - a very Philly addition to the holiday tour!

I remember my dad driving us down here to see the whole street lit up. It still is amazing and they really do a great job! Traffic can be a little hectic but its worth it. We were not too far visiting my best friend so we decided to go. This was the first time my hubby was ever there to see the lights and he really enjoyed it. I loved that i saw someone dress up as "grinch" and a "gingerbread man" If you are in the area its definitely worth going to see!

Nice Christmas lights and decorations. It's pretty festive, however, some lights were off probably due to no one being home. While nice, I left wanting more--that wow factor. Maybe this is due to some degree of anticipation. However, this block definitely gets props for coming together to showcase holiday lights for passersby. Neighbor participation can be arbitrary on some blocks, but 13th Street can serve as a great model on how when we all come together, we can create something beautiful. I'm glad I didn't miss stopping by this holiday season!

Hands down the best neighborhood holiday light display in all of Philadelphia! For years I've loved walking through this South Philly holiday tradition, and every time I find myself in the Passyunk area in Winter, I make it a point to go out of my way to visit it. So when I saw that Sari Marissa had written a review on it, I knew I had to follow suit and share this holiday tradition with all! From holiday lights of every color and size, to multiple Santas and Rudolphs, and plenty of video projections, this block of 13th street has been doing it big for several years. It's gotten to the point where they've even managed to gain sponsorship from several local businesses and incorporate theme events like Christmas Caroling with Santa Claus. There isn't a single house on the block that doesn't at least have one large strand of Christmas lighting upon their roof, and the houses owned by the true Yueltide lovers are the ones that REALLY go for a game of one upmanship. This year's display has one magical house dedicated to everyone's sort of favorite holiday movie A Christmas Story. Meanwhile another wasted little time in putting up a Christmas light message wall inspired by Stranger Things. Add in video projections of Santa and The Grinch, multiple Snoopy's, and a random 8-bit video wall, and you have a holiday display that's far better than your regular Festivus Miracle!

Of the many things holiday calls for, one is undeniably spreading the holiday cheer, and residents of South 13th Street are doing a cheerful job for almost 20 years and many more to come. I visited for the first time this past Christmas, and I was amazed by the spirited décor, Santa and his crew (Frosty,The Grinch, Gingerbread-man). - 48 spectacular lit homes. - Free to the public. - Christmas, South Philly style. Magical! Four and Half Yelp.

    Lights all around!

Miracle on 13th Street is one of our favorite South Philly holiday traditions! For those not familiar, the entire 1600 Block of South 13th Street (btwn Tasker & Morris) lights up for one long, festive holiday light display! Each house brighter and more cheery than the next! This block has some real holiday spirit! The lights go on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and last through New Years Eve! You can drive through slowly as cars often do, but we prefer to park nearby and walk it. We feel it's the best way to enjoy each and every house. Everyone is super friendly, the home owners who you can find outside and visitors alike. This display of community gets me all warm and fuzzy! Don't miss Santa himself in the upper right hand window, about 2/3 houses in on the left side facing north! Kiddos LOVE this part! We usually do din at nearby Victor Cafe and then come see the lights! Park once and see both! Now that makes for a fantastic, cozy South Philly winter night if you ask me! I just have one question though...what happens if a Jewish person wants to live on the block? :)

    Nicole C.

This is the most magical display in the tri-state area! Miracle on 13th, in South Philly, is a yearly tradition. The whole block decorates their homes to be part of this celebration of the holidays. It is super packed every single night leading up to Christmas, whether it's a weeknight or a weekend. The parking is limited, so it's fine to just drive down the street. The traffic definitely allows for taking photos and videos, even if you can't find parking. In my mind, this is a MUST see attraction and a holiday staple. If you're in the South Philly area, take a trip down here and prepare to be mesmerized by the lights and beauty of this display!

    Renee B.

If you are in the city during the holidays and want some Christmas spirit then swing by to see the lights. The festive display from the residents is a great way to appreciate the season. Thank you to all that take the time to decorate and showcase their homes!

True story. This was my second year at Bloktoberfest and it was once again a good time despite the little fall of rain and some intense lines. $15 presale online (with a few dollars processing fee) gets you 3 beer tickets and a sweet wristband, they're $20 the day of. You can get a 5 beer ticket for $25 or additional beer tickets for $5. There are some fancy strong beers, some ciders, and a lot of pumpkin ales and Oktoberfests. I would recommend going with 3 tickets and taking it from there in case it rains/gets too loud/crowded/your lame friend wants to leave/your awesome friend gets too drunk and needs to leave, etc. Lots of food trucks are out and places like Jamaican Jerk Hut, Sawatdee, and Magpie have food for sale. Lots of live music and even activities/performances for the kiddies (but ya know 26 year olds like to paint pumpkins too!) Some freebies from State Farm, City Fitness and even free on site eyebrow wax! Also love the print your own instagram table. It gets really crowded though so if you're not into things like night market... I would not recommend. I'm really not sure what my weekends will look like without all these fall fests, probably a lot of crying and moping around the house.

But since that time I've have seen it grow into a big time festival that showcases everything that's awesome about my favorite side of South Street. Deep down I'm happy to say that I was at the first 2 Bloktoberfest's that took up 2 to 3 blocks of the Graduate Hospital hood just south of Sidecar. And even though they were smaller scale, had fewer food trucks and brews, and the 2nd one suffered a huge hit by a considerable rain storm; it was a solid event that showcased the best of a South Philly community. And even when it expanded onto the best of South West South Street, teamed up with Bella Vista Beer Distributors to bring in even MORE beer, added in even more food truck and restaurant involvement, and utilized even bigger musical acts; it maintains the central organic theme that it was based on. This years fest gave me the chance to catch up with bad ass Philly bands like Swift Technique, West Philadelphia Orchestra, and Jason Jefferies & Tall Trees. While it was great to catch up with old food truck standbys like Say Cheese, Koja, and Sugar Philly Truck; I was blown away by new trucks like Mom Mom's Polish Food Cart. Grabbing familiar brews from the likes of DuClaw and Clown Shoes was definitely a winning combo. But I enjoyed new brews from Horny Goat, and the fact thar Neshiminy Creek brewed Bloktoberfest's own fest beer. Add in some suitable previews of restaurants I've been meaning to try like Rex 1516 and Cambridge; and this year's festival might have been the best one yet!

The food I could go on with the countless racks of ribs being layed out by different places, the burgers from Rouge or Lobster Rolls from Oyster House that was a taste of perfection. Lamb Burgers, and Underdogs doing their thing. Everyone trying to be better than the rest. I love a healthy, stuff your face with this mouthwatering dish kinda competition. Drinks you say? Every block had a section designated so you could enjoy a libation or two , or three in honor of Spring coming into full swing. I'm sure you've been to a block party with a keg or two, but this one simply blew out whatever you experienced. A great flow of people(more like an endless sea of people) becoming one giant, over fed , well hydrated, party going family. Besides the endless amounts of food to be consumed, or drinks to satisfy your thirst, ice cream to cool you down, there is more. Vendors selling house things, trinkets, cloths, you name it they sold it. A great day in the city of Brotherly Love to be enjoyed. All the fancy Rittenhouse restaurants were out-Le Bec Fin, Oyster House, Butcher and Singer, and some of the not so fancy ones-Dunkin Donuts, 500 Degrees, etc. CONS Some of the food was kind of pricey for small samples coming out of a tent (Il Pitorre, no one wants to pay $7 for 1 shrimp). Lines for alcohol were lonnngg (but hey some of the drink samples were free). I'm a big street jewelry/craft fair display person-there was a lack of that here. VERY crowded at some parts. Overall great festival, but it did conflict with the Italian Market Festival, and I am aggressive and did both (we stuck to a strict schedule), but if I had to choose I'd go for the Italian Market Festival.

I got one but was unable to pick up my shirt because we arrived too late, but I called the next day and they mailed me my shirt which was really nice. Even though my friend dressed as a Firebolt was mistaken for a Nimbus 2000 (please, that's almost as bad as asking if she was a CLEANSWEEP), we had an amazing time going from bar to bar, stopping to pose for pictures along the way! The festival also includes a Quidditch Match and a conference and apparently a 5K, which I haven't done, but I definitely recommend the pub crawl!

Vendors: * ~40 Food Trucks in attendance, as well as several arts/crafts, ice cream, wine/beer, and fashion trucks! Food prices vary, but most are in the festival-reasonable range of $4-$12. The wallet buster award goes to Surf and Turf for their $24 Surf and Turf Roll: Steak, lobster, kale, sundried tomato, and parmesan cheese. There was no line for this truck! * I noticed a high proportion of tots, mac+cheeses, and a multitude of pork products ... or maybe the fabulous smells and long lines of those units caught my eye more frequently. Watch your step, and watch your pets! Notes: * Don't eat the morning of (and night before?) the festival to max stomach space for yums. * Walk on sidewalks for free smells (kitchen vents out the back of the trucks) * Walk on sidewalks to fast track to desired destination(s) * Bring cash - don't let a faulty card swipey thing stand in the way of noms! * Bike/take mass transit if possible - vehicle parking is scarce!
