Cancel out all the beers you're going to drink with an (untimed) 5K run (literally) by the Fishtown Beer Runners starting at 12. $25 gets you a free tshirt, plastic cup, tote bag, free water, and most importantly, 2 drink tickets (Thanks for the registration Yelp!)! This year's course had a mural challenge where you could win a pint glass for posting 5 pictures. The course is (lightly) marked, and with the help of directing volunteers at each turn, only a few people got lost! The course runs through regular streets and is not blocked off so watch out for cars, pedestrians, dog poop, etc. 2. Super kid friendly - there's hula hoops, a bouncy castle, live music, face painters, crafts, and other games! 3. Drinks - lots of local beer options, which is great. No cocktails or wine, but there was a cider! tall tables for you to enjoy your beverages. 4. Food - not a ton of options (3-4 trucks- Biscuit's Biscuits, Kung Fu Hoagie, Cow and the Curd and a few others), but a nice seating area with picnic tables. 5. Vendors - not too crowded, so lots of space to walk around and enter contests! With less people you have higher chances of winning! I won a gift card basket with gift cards from uber, netflix, and wine and spirits! They also had some cool Fishtown shirts, and the usual cool jewelry, local realtors, etc. 6. Great views of the river and the Ben Franklin Bridge!

What a cute little festival in a nice open space! I won a bib for the 5K through a Yelp contest…read more(thanks Yelp!) and made my way down to the 2015 festival. The 5K was a fun run and super laid back. It was a nice way to tour Fishtown, a neighborhood I usually don't frequent. After the run, I was able to claim my run swag bag and tickets into the beer tent. The beer tent wasn't huge but it had a solid representation of 2nd Story Brewing, Evil Genius, Do Good (a new brewery local to Port Richmond), Fat Tire, St Benjamin, Philadelphia Brewing Company, Neshaminy Creek and Kurant Cider. It was a bit of a bummer you had to keep the beer within the beer tent and couldn't walk the grounds though. Outside of the beer tent, there were about 5-6 food trucks which included Scratch Biscuits, Mom-Mom's, Philly Fry and a few others. I think my favorite part of the entire event was their pet tent area. They had several local shelters set up shop to promote their rescue organizations. They even brought some adoptable dogs and cats to the event. I thought I knew I was pretty well versed in Philly's local rescue organizations, but I learned about a few new ones like City of Elderly Love and Citizens for a No-Kill Philadelphia. In addition to all of the rescue pups, a lot of festival-goers brought their own dogs. It was adorable city! There were also a few rows of some great craft vendors and services. And did I mention the live music? A stage was set up with acts brought in through WXPN near the beer tent. All of this happened in the huge Penn Treaty Park. I'm definitely adding the Rivercity Festival to my list of festivals to attend again in the future.

They really pack a lot into the day's events. They close down the entire Main Street and set up food and craft vendors everywhere. Ice sculptures are everywhere, including live ice carving. They also have a lot of special events like dog sledding demonstrations, colonial cooking demonstrations, a wandering band of gentlemen and gentle ladies singing old timey colonial songs, and rides in Mt. Holly's fire trucks for the kids. Parking can be tricky, especially if you're not familiar with the area. We always get there early right when the festival opens and there is plenty of street parking outside of the old prison on High Street. This is a really fun event as a great way to embrace the cold of January and enjoy time outside supporting local establishments.

Good to see the local bizs having lots of traffic in their stores. I got to go to a few stores that I normally don't frequent but have wanted to check out (Olive Oil bar, Sweet Spot, Crystal place). For a cool $3, you could sample & help judge the winners in the Chili cook off. There were sledding dogs, a petting zoo, aerial acrobatics, historical figure reenactments, & various different food trucks on hand. Weather was nice (...as it could be in Jan) & cooperated, not super cold but temps did drop as it got later in the afternoon. We had a chance to sit outside and enjoy our funnel cake (thank you, Boy Scouts!). Lots of foot traffic up & down High Street/Mill Street. Good vibe overall. Overall, we had a great time @ the festival. They extended it a lil further down past the MIll Race shops and on the side streets as well. Good amount of people who came out this year. Parking stinks & you have to circle round a few times if you wait later to go, like what we did. Luckily, parking is free in Mount Holly. Great event for families & even just your friends. There was a nice one that had "xoxo" in the middle. My friend and I got on the ride while the sun was setting over the city, and it was such a beautiful sight to experience. Every block had a section designated so you could enjoy a libation or two , or three in honor of Spring coming into full swing. PROS This festival had A LOT of freebies/spin the wheel/enter this raffle/cornhole/beer pong: My friends and I came home with beach balls, hand sanitizer, tote bags, pens, a bag of hamburger rolls, a measuring cup, hand cream, Helium comedy club passes, yogurt, mints, etc. Let's just say I'm going to have to unsubscribe from a few hundred emails next week. All the fancy Rittenhouse restaurants were out-Le Bec Fin, Oyster House, Butcher and Singer, and some of the not so fancy ones-Dunkin Donuts, 500 Degrees, etc. CONS Some of the food was kind of pricey for small samples coming out of a tent (Il Pitorre, no one wants to pay $7 for 1 shrimp). Lines for alcohol were lonnngg (but hey some of the drink samples were free). I'm a big street jewelry/craft fair display person-there was a lack of that here. VERY crowded at some parts. Overall great festival, but it did conflict with the Italian Market Festival, and I am aggressive and did both (we stuck to a strict schedule), but if I had to choose I'd go for the Italian Market Festival.

So its clean when it's your turn to put the gear on. Since the VR goggles are worn on your face, you are given a disposable mask to put on that sits between your VR goggles and your face. The party rooms are time limited (about two hours or less), and while the staff isn't rude, they do come in frequently to remind you how much time is left. It makes the transition feel a little rushed. Once your time is up, you're kindly moved out. There is seating outside the party rooms, but there aren't enough tables to comfortably accommodate everyone. They do have lockers for your belongings, a small arcade area, and separate trampoline sections based on age, which is a big plus for safety. The food was average at best. The pizza wasn't great, and the mozzarella sticks were just okay like pre- frozen. Another downside is the parking lot. The plaza also has a Chuck E. Cheese, a nail spa, and an Olive Garden, so parking can be pretty chaotic especially on weekends when birthday parties are happening everywhere. Overall, it's fine if you just want to bring kids to jump and burn energy. Personally, I wouldn't choose it as a party venue because the time feels limited and rushed. Would I attend another party there? Probably. But once the two hours are up, I'm heading out.

There are crafters, vendors, food, and definitely plenty of drinks. The cornerstone of this event in my opinion is the costume contest. People go all out for this and it's really a sight to see! Every year it seems to attract more and more visitors. For this reason, I hope they get better at accommodating more visitors as it took an inordinate amount of time this year to get a drink. But it is still a blast and shouldn't be missed by the Halloween enthusiasts in the greater Philadelphia area!
