Both were good at the time however the manicure began chipping the same night. EIGHT OUT OF TEN ACRYLIC NAILS BROKE OFF IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS! I visited Sara's Nails in Grandville on Friday, October 1st, 2021, with a bridal party to get our nails done for the wedding the next day. I got a full set of acrylic nails with shellac polish and a cuticle trim and I showed the technician a picture of the shape and length I wanted for the nails. Not only was he extremely rude to me, he was on his phone making multiple calls during my service. The finished product (Photo 1) was disappointing to say the least: the shape of the nails were not what I asked for and not even consistent with one another, and shellac was sloppy and did not even fully fill out my nail on several fingers! I was upset at the moment about the poor service and high charge of $57.00, but the rest of the bridal party assured me they looked ok and not wanting to further upset the bride, I let it go. The first nail broke off not even one week later, on Wednesday, October 6th, taking most of my nail down to the nail bed with it (Photo 2). As of the writing of this review, EVERY NAIL save for the thumb nails has BROKEN OFF, very painfully I might add, and leaving the nail underneath absolutely wrecked (Photo 3). Again, these are/were ACRYLIC NAILS, they are not supposed to come off on their own. Honestly, I have had $8.00 plastic glue on nails look better and stay on longer. As I live in Detroit and was in town only for the wedding, visiting the salon to have this mess corrected is not in the question. So I paid $57.00 (plus the $10.00 tip I left for some crazy reason) for terrible looking nails that painfully broke off in less than two weeks. My mom and I always go to Sara's nails when we need a girls day. The salon is always very clean, and uses freshly cleaned tools every single time. We have never had any problems here. They do quality work, and are very friendly. Sara the owner is so sweet! Would recommend this nail salon to anyone and everyone! It's a little more on the higher end in terms of pricing; but the experience is also 10x better than other salons in the area. P.S. I've been here probably 4-5 times and have gotten different results each time. Sometimes they look good, but the past few times I've gone they haven't been great. Around Halloween, I asked for nail art and was told something else would look better. The nail tech tried but couldn't do my design, so we tried the one she recommended. That one didn't work out either, so I ended up getting plain nails. Yesterday, I went in for an easy set. I chose a dark burgundy but after 2 coats it was much more like a cherry red. After asking if it would darken at all with another coat, she said the samples are not an accurate reflection of the true shades...that they'd be darker than the actual colors. She tried to fix the color issue by putting 2 more coats of a darker red on top. It did "fix" the color issue, but now my nails are peeling off on only the second day of having them done because of so much gel polish on them. This salon was great the first time or two I went because I felt like a valued customer. However, the last two times, the service has been sloppy and I've left unhappy. Probably will have to just find a new salon-- sad to spend money for nails that are never consistent. read more

I went in for a pedicure this afternoon. I was greeted promptly and with a smile. They started on my service right away. I had the Sara pedicure with gel polish. I am very pleased with the service I received! They had a good variety of gel colors. The pedicure included mint mask for my legs (refreshing and tingly), a wax treatment, hot towels, and hot stone massage. It was just what I needed. Very relaxing. The salon is beautiful with newer updates. The massage chair was comfortable to sit in and had an adjustable neck rest. They were playing HGTV and the volume was perfect--not too loud. It's a very calming atmosphere. My only reason for giving 4 stars is the fact you can't tip with a card. The salon does offer an ATM in house, which is very thoughtful! I personally do not like to use ATMs outside my bank. So, I left to get cash and came back. Overall, it was a great experience. I'll return with cash next time. read more

That's where the praise ends. #1 how can you make a must have appoint and make your client wait 45 minutes unexceptionable #2 I receive a mani pedi and because your scheduling was poor I got a 2nd rate rushed pedicure and manicure but I paid an outrageous PRICE. ok so i did go back because i like the work my nail tech does most of the time but after my last review it was still the same work sloppy and over charged i have bubbles in my nails from not letting them dry in light as needed i got there at 2 and asked if he could be done in 45 min and he was done by 2:30 shellac polish lumps up if not polished and dried correctly. Sara's Nails overcharges and for what to have lumpy nails and walk out unhappy not the first time ive had to go elsewhere to have my shellac redone. i will not be back my nail length is always the same length and ive gotten charged 35 the most with shellac, when a nail salon charges 20$ for a kids pedi and its less than 15 min time to take my money elsewhere. Finally! A nice place comparable to Miami that I can come for my bi-weekly mani/pedi ! You have no idea how happy this makes me! I visited with a friend of mine from work who found Sara's on Google. When we arrived we were created by a beautiful clean sleek set up.....yessss! The last place I'd been too was a little less modern. Sara's has a few things that do the trick for me: 1. Friendly greeting- I'm a new customer, this should be automatic! 2. Variety of polishes - the last place I'd been to had a variety but guess what, charged an extra $3 for certain selections, like OPI and some other brand ?! Really?! Sara's had OPI, essie, and then of course your gel polishes which... yes should be a bit more. I was very pleased with their selection. 3. They use plastic- As a measure of sanitation they use a plastic cover to line the pedi chairs. Thank you! I brought my own polish this round because of my past experiences with this other place. My girl was not happy about it lol, see the polish was thick and difficult to use. She tried to fix it with some thinner but didn't want to ruin it. At least she was honest about it. Came back to what I thought was the old salon and it's mirage salon now, lady was super nice but I think this was the fastest fill in my life he filed them like he was in a race then the reason I hate doing shellac is because they pile on the polish and once it cures its super thinks and wide. Nails are super bubbly at the top so it's round I said thin and coffin like, once the top coat comes on they paint and paint and it looks like they did 5 coats instead of two. I got a shellac manicure in teal with gold glitter accent fingers Saturday evening. By Wednesday morning the polish was lifting and peeling (see pictures). The manicure didn't last 4 days, let alone the expected two weeks! I'd heard wonderful things about Sara's Nails, and decor-wise, it was beautiful! A relaxing, spacious environment that I was looking forward to my birthday mani/pedi gift to myself. However, the individual who did my treatments was incredibly rough and abrasive, to the point that I left with bruises and cuts in the tender skin around my cuticles and my feet actually hurt walking out. I repeatedly asked for a layer of protective skin to be left on the bottom of my feet given how I walk and while I was assured that would be the case, that didn't happen. The same rough treatment occurred during the mani (I waited thinking the individual doing the service would be a new person, but there was a sudden change and that wasn't the case). I tried to be personable and lead into saying something but was shut down /ignored each time. Eventually I grew so anxious about the discomfort of the situation and the pain I was experiencing, I gave up trying to say anything (even when I was scratched amidst reaching for a dropped tool). The whole experience created immense anxiety and upon arriving home, I promptly burst into tears after the whole experience (happy birthday to me?). I did try to kindly and constructively convey that I was unhappy with my treatment as I went to leave, and was simply given a blank stare and told I should have said "stop" when it happened- this despite me actually voicing my discomfort and pain in the moment and multiple instances of physical flinching (that was promptly ignored by the manicurist). I had no expectations when I offered forth feedback on my experience but I didn't anticipate the lack of response or empathy and truly, I'm just overall so disappointed by what was supposed to be a wonderful afternoon and early present to myself. Sorry for the novel, it was just a really awful experience and if I can spare anyone the physical pain, I certainly will do my best to do so. I'm sure not everyone is like the individual who worked with me, but truly this was just my experience. I hope future clients will receive better! read more

I got a full set of fake nails, almond shaped. The lady did take quite a long time doing my nails. Well when I sat down at the dryers, I noticed two of them were very crooked. No, I didn't asked to have them fixed cuz I always feel like nail salons are rude about fixing their mistakes. These nails are $40 with $5 tip like come on my other place does them in half the time, half the price and they're always perfect! I went in for a shellac manicure. My nails barely soaked, she barely touched my cuticles and was telling me to take my nails out of the lamp before the time was up. Once it was all done she put a minimum amount of lotion on my hands...they might be drier than they were than when I walked in. The whole thing took 20 minutes and I doubt it'll last. read more

HORRIBLE. Do not waste time or money going here. I went in for a regular manicure and with drying time was out in under 20 minutes. They filed one hand but not the other. They buffed the other hand but not the first. I had to ASK them to use the cuticle trimmer. The nail painting was on skin and they didn't bother to clean it up even after I asked. It's also overpriced compared to other local spots. Don't be fooled by the size, newness and fancy iPad check out station. Haven't been here in over 6 months and service has declined immensely. Used to be my favorite place to go. Took my friend there for pedis her birthday and told them we were together. They sat us down together and began her pedi...hers was completely done before the girl came to do mine. Never asked us if we wanted a drink like they usually do, but they asked the people sitting across from us. I've been going here for over a year, the longest I've ever gone to the same nail salon. FYI for the review giving this salon a one star states she asked for a acrylic fill and instead got shellac. Shellac is the polish which stays on longer and drys quickly. She most likely got a fill and shellac. Shellac is more expensive but I work with my hands and appreciate the benefits. I've NEVER had a bad visit to this salon, always professional and my results always gorgeous. I have got more compliments on my nails since I've started going there. I have acrylics and I get a fill every 2ish weeks. I also get a pedicure every 4 weeks. I pay the extra for shellac on both my toes and nails because it stays on longer looking beautiful and I don't sit under a dryer for 15 minutes and worrying about messing them up. Be an educated consumer but I will say designs are not their strong suit but if you're looking for beautiful, classy nails I would recommend. read more

Went for the grand opening special and a mother's day treat and I have mixed feelings about my experience. Grant it, they've only been open four days but there were several things that made it not so great. I had an appointment however it took 15 minutes and my asking "how much longer" before I was seen. The greeter was rather flat and not very welcoming during my wait. Their mani/pedi combo was ok. Nothing special, a cuticle trim, some lotion and a short rub. No real massage to speak of and the hand dip was just cold water in a bowl. My nail tech didn't say a word the entire time (Ben). Awkward! When it came time for my eyebrows the young lady who did them rushed through them and a number of times pressed so hard my eyelid turned inside out. I actually laughed because it was that or scream. I will say that though I felt incredibly rushed they turned out ok. Overall my nails look fine and my eyebrows are good but the customer service could use some polish. read more

This was by far the WORST experience I have ever had at a nail salon. I will never go back. I asked for a set of acrylic with the next gen. powder. I wanted a purple ombre and my nails ended up looking like a mess of streaky, patchy, chunky garbage. The guy that did my nails had two women standing over him the whole time, and they were talking to eachother and laughing during the entire process. One of the women even said, "Well, you picked the color." as if that was an excuse for why they looked the way they did. She also outright said that every one of my nails did look different and proceeded to laugh. I was told it would cost $35 at the beginning and by the end, I was charged $55. Maybe this salon would be fine if you just wanted a single color, or something simple. But I was more disappointed with my nails walking out than I was when I walked in.
