Mink has dined at Mirama on a previous Paris visit and highly recommended it to me. We decided to eat lunch there and it did not disappoint. The place is clean and has an upscale vibe offering Chinese cuisine. Customer service was very good during our visit and they even speak Chinese there if you don't speak French. Their English is pretty good too so don't worry. The menu is pretty straight forward. We both ordered Shrimp Wonton Mein with a side of Roast Duck to share. You also have the option for Pork Wontons instead of Shrimp Wontons. Their Shrimp Wonton were big and you could dip them in the provided sauce. It reminded me of a spicy plum sauce. Broth wasn't bad and noodles were good. Portions are smaller like most things in Paris. The roast duck was very good! We couldn't finish our roast duck so they provided us a take out container when we asked for our check. You take your check and walk up to the cashier to pay. Unless you like hard noodles, don't get the crispy noodles. Didn't realize "crispy" meant hard like this. It literally looks and tastes like raw noodles. We thought it was fried in a pan and softer. Asked if we could change the noodles because they are crumbling apart & the waiter didn't care and said no that he already asked what we wanted and we said crispy. Great food at reasonable prices. We were a bit skeptical at first because we arrived when the chefs were about to start their meal break. That said, we had to wait a few minutes before we could order. I'm glad we decided to stay because the food was totally worth it. We ordered the roast duck cantonese, beef w/vegetables, rice, and tea. So good! They charge for the tea and rice so an alternative is getting the roast duck with rice and just asking for hot water. The portions sizes were just right. For two people, two main dishes were the perfect amount and trust me, we were stuffed by the end of the meal! My review is based on my take-away experience. We invited some people over for Christmas dinner so as a treat, my mother added Duck, Fried Rice, and Cashew Chicken from Mirama to the menu. They're open Christmas Day (I think this fact is a worldwide thing). When I went to go pick up our food, it was jam packed. As I waited, I stood and stared at the soup and poultry stations at the front of the restaurant - a very relaxing experience somehow ... The Fried Rice was delish ! ! Not greasy at all. I am really on the fence between 3 and 4 stars for Mirama. I don't think I am quite a 'fan', but I also think their food is above average. The difficult part is trying to get over how expensive it is. I know it's Paris, and I know it is located in a touristy spot... but it's one of these restaurants where you feel like you are being nickeled and dimed, no matter what you order, your check will still surprise you a bit. We were in the last part of our recent Europe (Prague / Paris) trip and I was madly craving good Asian food (more than a week without rice for a Chinese girl = no good). We had a REALLY terrible Chinese food experience in Prague a couple of nights prior that left me craving for good Chinese food that much more. So when I saw Mirama (the beautiful view of that classic "BBQ ducks hanging = great authentic Chinese food"... and a quick Yelping) totally convinced me to stop whatever we were doing and go grab a table. We walked in actually 10 min before they officially open that day (I didn't realize that at the time) and the staff were still all sitting at a table, eating lunch lol. I asked if they were open and one of the servers directed us to a two top. We opted for a simple light meal of pork wonton noodle soup and beef with Chinese mushroom, two cups of hot tea and a bowl of rice. The wonton noodle soup was pretty tasty. Not the best I've ever had and certainly not the worst. The beef dish was a little disappointing because I was really expecting the beef to be really tender and it wasn't. Though it was still tasty and was great on rice. The portion was pretty small and of course, the tea and steamed rice are all extra charges. I suppose that is the norm in Paris. So yeah, above average food and kinda pricey. 3.5 stars tilting more to 4 since the food is above average and my complaint about pricing, well, I think that is probably just the norm for Paris. read more

Yes!! Michelin star rated noodles!! That's right. In the land of Michelin stars, you can find a tiny Chinese spot right smack in the middle of Saint Germain/Latin Quarter. And you don't have to go through all those tourist traps they have in Latin Quarter. Cool, right? Pro: food!! Noodles!! BBQ meat!! I've been here about a dozen time on my several trips to Paris. Their noodles always remain consistently good. I've tried the other dishes like fried rice, noodles, hot and sour soup, chicken dishes and so on too. They were a ok. Roast duck is pretty good. Wontons are delish!! What's not to love about a bowl of soup with noodles, meat and wontons! Con: Not really a con but this is Paris! Portion sizes are small. I'm ok with that. The tables are half smaller than their portions. That could be a problem. In order for you to get in to that wall side: they have to pull out the whole table. And if you are lucky, you will be on your neighbor's lap. Why is that lucky? I'm small! it's better than having someone else on my lap! And if they are wearing big coats during winter time? You are royally screwed!! Again, this is Paris! Most places close early for food. Most places don't serve food after 9 pm in this area. 10 pm at the latest but that is if you are lucky. Sure, you can go to the take out spots and get noodles on the streets! Or eat those delish crepes and falafels. But gotta appreciate the sit down noodle option too. Because I tend to roam around the streets of Paris and forget the time. By the time I'm hungry, almost everything I want stop serving. I will be back again next time I'm in town. read more

Best Chinese food in Paris. When I have my Asian food craving, we go on manhunts for spring rolls, noodles, and hot soup. In Paris, its very hard to find good Asian food outside the 13th arrondisment....until I discovered this place!!! My friend who works at the Office de Tourisme recommended in this place, and we tried it immediately. SUCCESS! It is in St Michel, my favorite area in Paris, not too expensive, and fast service! It does get very crowded at mealtimes though. SHRIMP DUMPLING SOUP [avec or sans noodles] The best soup in the house. The wontons/dumplings are soft and delicious, well flavored, and the broth is just perfect. BBQ PORC NOODLE SOUP I had this the second time I went to Mirama, and I liked it more than the roast duck. Very flavorful meat, good broth, and noodles were filling. I didn't need anything else. This bowl of noodles is enough to make me happy!!! ROAST DUCK NOODLE SOUP The duck is tender and flavorful. Not too salty, but the skin is super delicious. The egg noodles remind me of home, and the broth is similar to the shrimp dumpling broth. Light and perfect for a freezing cold rainy Paris night. LONGAN For dessert, there are a variety of fruit cups. Longan is offered in a cup, but it is not fresh. It's preserved in sugar water, so it likely came from a can...but i actually like those as well. Not a large dessert, but good and light. UGH, I MISS THE DUCK FROM MIRAMA PLACE SO MUCH!!! During my year-long study abroad stay in Paris this became THE place to get the best roasted duck in Paris. The duck is perfectly cooked, not dry at all. Get the roasted duck with rice which is the same price as just the duck. Another thing that I highly recommend is their soupe de nouilles au porc laquée. The pork is so flavorful, the broth is so good, and the noodles are also cooked to perfection. It is not the cheapest place to eat Chinese food in Paris but it is considerably cheaper than French restaurants or many restaurants in the 5th arrondissement. Do yourself a favor and visit Mirama when you come to Paris and if you live in Paris, first of all I'm very jealous and second you have no excuses. You're guaranteed a great meal for under 25 euros per person (which in Paris is a very good thing). read more

During my stay in Paris, I have had the chance to eat Chinese style duck at a few places. Im a big fan of roasted duck, or "canard laqué" as it is known in France. SO it means says a lot when I say that this place, by far, has the best duck I have ever had. I remember coming in here by total accident and thinking ok, this place is kinda expensive. But something about the hanging ducks in the window made me think that it may be worth it. At least I knew that it was fresh right? I ordered the canard laqué and the shrimp wonton soup. Like I mentioned earlier, the duck it perfectly done. Its is well cooked but not to the point that the meat is dry. The wonton soup is very flavorful. It is perfect choice during the Parisian winters. This place gets a 5 because it is really that good. Yes, it is more expensive than what I would like to spend over lunch and dinner, but it really is worth it. Here on a Thursday early evening and it filled up FAST. Lots of locals mixed in with Latin Quarter tourists, so very lively. I was seated quickly but they took a while to take my order and bring it...some other diners came after me and got their dinners first But the food was good. I had classic hot and sour soup (spicy, good heat, excellent thickness and texture) but for 6.50€ you'd expect a much bigger bowl. I also had a king prawn dish which was excellent in flavor and presentation but again, smallish presentation. Service was not overly friendly but not rude either...just right for a Chinese restaurant. Mirama is incredibly authentic for being located in the center of Paris in the touristy St. Michel - Notre-Dame area. The dishes at Mirama are decently portioned and are definitely delicious. Some of my favorites are the shrimp dumpling soup, the roast duck, and the roast pork. I have to say, the put a lot of attention into getting the flavor and textures just right, and that's worth the few extra euros that makes this place a bit more expensive than the usual Chinese restaurant. The service is friendly, though during lunch and dinner hours they tend to be busy. Even at 3pm in the afternoon, this place is still booming - so you know they're doing it right! I'm reserving the last star because I feel that the prices could be a teensy bit cheaper. read more

Not a very big portion size, however, for what you pay. Bean curd was okay. Squid was tasteless, even though the menu said it's seasoned with salt and pepper. I practically used all the table salt to get some flavor. You have to pay for rice. (Not surprised, but an authentic Chinese resto wouldn't charge for this. They really cater to foreign and unsuspecting palettes) It's expensive for what you get, in my opinion. The duck admittedly is a good deal but everything else doesn't seem worth it. My family and friends have been enjoying their affordable, tasty and homemade shrimp dumpling soups with or without noodles for years. If you were to request the shrimp dumpling soups without noodles, you will have more shrimp dumplings. Nevertheless, the dish was more filling with the delicious noddles. This has been by far our favorite dish here. We also enjoyed their lacquered roast duck soup with noodles. I prefer this one to the pork soup. Received a tip from a local that said all Chinese tourists visit here for authentic food. Service was super fast and the staff attentive. The shrimp dumpling soup was amazing. Make sure you order it without noodles. You'll get more dumplings. I also ordered the roasted duck with mushrooms. Not sure what kind of mushrooms they were but the flavor was amazing, the duck super juicy and cooked really well. The only slight miss was that they brought me white rice when I asked for brown. My first impression was of a restaurant that turns a lot of tables. Don't be fooled by what might seem a small bowl of noodles and lacquered, roasted duck. The depth of flavor and richness of the duck meat will satisfy all but the most ravenous appetites. Tip: use the small plate under the soup bowl as a working space on which to separate the duck meat from the bone. This is relatively hard to do with a spoon and a pair of chopsticks, but it IS doable. You could also just ask for a knife and fork. Although the soup was lovely, and I could easily see myself returning from time to time, I confess I was turned off by their "unique" service strategy. I had barely sat down, hadn't even opened the menu, when the waiter had already returned for my order. Rather than accept to grant me a minute, the waiter began pointing at various items on the menu. I went here on Chinese New Year and was able to snag a table in the back after a short ten minute wait. I ordered my favorite dishes of salt and pepper shrimp and corn, egg drop and chicken soup. Both were very tasty. The only negative was that the shrimp was "frenchified" (as my next-table-over companion termed it). It was shelled instead of being served with the skin on. But the seasoning was perfect and it had the perfect lightly crisp fry to it. So I guess I can forgive them for frenchifiying it (and hey I did not have to figure out the best way to not look like an undignified American by eating with my hands). It is also on one of those weird streets in Paris that changes it's name. Basically if you're near the river walk away from it for about three blocks or so and it magically changes its name to rue Saint Jacques. read more

I was there a couple of months go and most recently yesterday. This is a Cantonese style restaurant. The location to me is a bit odd, since it borders the Latin Quarter where all the touristy restaurants and shops are, and most locals like myself stay away from. But a friend wanted to go so we went. Our friends have gone several times before and especially loved their crispy noodles with shrimp/prawns. I'm actually not a fan of crispy noodles, or what we refer to growing up as Singaporean noodles (I'm originally from SF). To me their texture is off, and after awhile they get soggy. The group loved the dish, and that was one of the main reasons why went, was for that dish, and it turned out it was my least favorite. I do have to say that their roast duck, canard laque was excellent. Not dry and very moist. And, their poitrine de porc croistillant (crispy pork belly) was also very good. The skin was especially crunchy. The 2-vegetable dishes we had: a mushroom with broccoli, and dish of tofu with vegetables was nothing to write to Mom about, it was boring and nondescript. For tourist, this is a great location. It's close to Notre Dame, the Latin quarter, and also close to the Pantheon. It's a very typical Cantonese restaurant. So, if you're craving Cantonese and want to go for a quick lunch go. Personally, I'd rather go to Chinatown (13eme) or even the Belleville district. We paid approximately 23€ per person. read more

While staying in Paris for six weeks I was in search of great Chinese food. Went here with a bunch of friends based on the YELP reviews. We we first got there, there was a line to get it this little hole-in-the-wall. But the wait was short. Like most places in Paris, the place is on the smaller side, however I did not feel uncomfortable as we were seated in the downstairs area. The food selection was wide and the waiter had no problem speaking some english to accommodate our choppy French. The prices are reasonable for Paris with most meals between 10-20 euros. Food came out quickly and was very delcious. I would def go with Shrimp Wonton soup and Sweet n Sour Chicken! Was absolutely amazing, and I would go again for sure. Also, quick note, it's closer to Place Monge metro stop than the one they list. I spent about 15 minutes searching for it. read more

Overpriced for slightly above decent Chinese food. I got the shrimp dumpling noodle soup and the noodles were good and so were the shrimp dumplings. They served it with this weird sour tasting sauce, kinda like sweet and sour sauce, but a little more thick and more red. It tasted like the sauce that you use to dip duck into. Anyways, sauce aside, the actual dish was okay. The soup had no flavor though. It was not done well at all. The dumplings were pretty good. Although, they fool you into thinking that it is shrimp. It's actually fish paste with small amount of shrimp. Lies. I can't believe I paid 10 euros for that! It was tiny. I don't know who they're kidding, but nowhere in China would they ever serve such a small bowl of noodle soup. But, I suppose we are in France.. Everything is small here. Doesn't mean they can rip you off like that though! Would have paid at most 6 euros if I knew it was such a small bowl. Everyone around me had rice dishes (none of them Asian, should have known). All dishes (except appetizers) range from 10-15 euros. Small portions. The fried rice and duck dish looked good (for 14 euros!) I have yet to find a really good, authentic, and affordable Chinese restaurant in Paris, but the search continues.
