I became acquainted with Mischief during this year's Fremont Soupocalypse. My soup-partner-in-crime and I were wandering the streets of Fremont in search of a participating restaurant that was serving something other than tomato soup. Mischief was that place! A little off the main path (ie along the canal, where parking is a little easier), they have a small (and seasonal?) food menu with innovative offerings. The seafood chowder was delicious and was perfectly accompanied by their house pickles (first time trying pickled blueberries!). The squash soup didn't wow us but was tasty. My friend took the blood orange cheesecake to go and it was not only beautiful but tasted as good as it looked. The cozy bar is on the small side, but their patio more than doubles their footprint (and is covered and heated!), so while it was bustling on a Saturday evening we had no problem getting a table. The deviled eggs were great! And it's an awesome view, with good cocktails. But the pulled pork sandwich and salmon griddled cheese were cold when they were brought to the table and the pulled pork slider didn't really have any bbq on it. read more

I enjoyed their cocktails, but the meal, overall, was average. We had the pickled veggies, which were pretty good, but the vinegar was a little too potent for my taste. The butternut squash soup was the only thing I really enjoyed, but it came out cold, so I had to ask for them to reheat it. I had the salmon sandwich minus the bread, which was nice, and we had the boxty potatoes, which were the most disappointing item- they tasted like they had been sitting for awhile , then reheated. This spot is absolutely amazing! I live in Fremont and walked past it a million times during COVID hoping it would eventually open up. The atmosphere is relaxed yet elegant. There are spots on the roof with canal views as well as on the patio outside the distillery. Dogs are allowed as well which is a big plus! When we arrived, we were greeted with open arms. The great service only continued from there - every person we came into contact with was very warm and welcoming. We each tried two different cocktails and loved them all. The menu is relatively simple, but there are enough options for everyone to find something they love. We also ordered a bunch of food and loved everything! What a lovely surprise! We just landed in Seattle for our first trip post-vaccination and wanted a bite to eat within walking distance. Mischief on Canal was a 5 minutes walk. We weren't expecting anything, just food, and ended up with a lovely two hours sampling apple brandies, all the plant-forward starters and most of the small plates in a relaxing outdoor patio. The food were all beautifully presented, delicious, and fresh. I love the use of fresh, local ferns and, I think, fiddleheads. We definitely highly recommend the smoked oysters, though the beet deviled eggs were excellent too! The staff were friendly and attentive, definitely knew their food and drinks and made smart recommendations. If I was a local, Mischief on Canal would now be my favorite go-to restaurant. read more

Had so much fun at Mischief yesterday! Met up with a friend on the patio and loved that it was dog friendly so we could bring our pups! The menu has a lot of unique drink options, so opted to go for one of their signature drinks, the "Johnny Boy". Super pretty presentation, very refreshing, and a pretty reasonable price. I got the Marionberry Sidecar and Boxty Potatoes. The drink was super good and perfect booziness, the potato thing was cooked really well and crispy but needed salt. The indoor open door and outdoor covered seating are basically the same coldness if it's windy outside. I'd like to come back when the weather is nice but it was a bit cold today. Really cute place right next to the canal. They have a rooftop, patio and indoor seating options. We really wanted to try the rooftop but there was a 45 min wait so we opted for the patio instead. The service was great no complaints there. For food and drinks they have really good whiskey cocktails. We tried their old fashion flight and pear mule. For food there are a few small plates and starters. Don't plan to have dinner here unless you want to try multiple smaller plates, the options are limited. We tried the beetroot deviled eggs, pork sliders and jackfruit sliders. The food is good. I liked the pork sliders more than jackfruit. Drinks were good too! I liked that they weren't too sweet. Overall a nice place to hangout and have some drinks with friends. Prices are a little steep, we paid about ~30$ per person with one drink per person and 3 small plates split between 5 people. But not really unexpected for a bar in Seattle area! read more

Great for place to go to hang out during COVID. Because it's nestled in between buildings, and covered with overhead tent and warmers, we were pleasantly not freezing despite it being in the evening in January! We came for the soupocalypse event and really enjoyed the mushroom bisque which had great mushroom flavor distilled! The first drink I had was Rooted in Mischief--it was a bit heavy on the booze flavor for me, but still good! My second drink was called Her Name Was Ruby and it was refreshing and full of flavor. I love this place so much!!!! I have been wanting to check out their upper patio for a long time but every time I have gone, it has been closed, so hopefully I can see that soon. Came in and was able to sample some very fun and unique liquors including the Ancient Grain Rye Whiskey made from purple Tibetan barley and a phenomenal corn vodka. The bartender Alex was incredibly knowledgeable and had a passion for the industry. He answered all of our questions regarding the ingredients and distillation processes and showed us some amazing cocktails. The drinks were amazing and the bartender went above and beyond. read more

What a fantastic night last night!! The chef and waiters were super cool and fun to chat with. You can tell they are excited and passionate about their restaurant and have made it super enjoyable during covid. There is a great heated tent and I was able to remove my jacket ! The food was soooo good. I had the mushroom soup that came with a homemade savory biscotti that was to die for. Next we split the jackfruit sliders, pork sliders, and potato boxties ( latkes) yummmm to everything!! Perfect portions and great flavor. The movie star vodka lemon martini was really good as well. Wow, great food, great service. Loved it. Lots of plant based options, not necessarily vegan (though there are options). My wife really liked the pistachio salad. The chef hand delivered our food and told us about the ingredients he used. Very attentive, and the food was just beautiful on the plate. Wish I had taken pictures but it was too tasty. I am so glad we stumbled upon this hidden treasure in Fremont. They had a wonderfully set up tent with standing heaters near most tables. The menu had an extensive list of cocktails, with whiskey and gin being featured. My partner got a Paper Plane (whiskey drink) and I got the Bees Knees (gin drink). Both were delicious! We got some small plates as well- my partner got the Salmon BLT and I got the Duck Confit Salad. The Salmon BLT was just a sandwich, but it was perfectly cooked and browned and buttery with a dipping sauce. The Duck Confit Salad was light and used seasonal ingredients- it was a bit small but every bite was absolutely . Pretty good food although it is a pretty limited menu (look it up before if you are a picky eater). The only issue came at the end of the meal when we asked for the check. We waited for 15+ minutes without receiving the bill. I should note we were one of like 3 tables left. Not busy at all. Finally we flagged the server down again and she asked if we were ready for the bill. We said yes and she took the card and charged it without telling us the amount nor giving us an itemized receipt. We asked what amount we were being charged and she said it's the amount displayed on the screen then scoffed at us. It was surprisingly rude, especially since we had been waiting for so long without complaint. On the other hand a male server was super gracious and cleaned up a drink that spilled quickly. Nice spot that I recommend to any wanting either food or drinks. Had the clover club, and it was well made. Wife's bee's knees also delicious. The food was quite good. The duck in the confit salad was well cooked. The salad overall tasted good. Also ordered the tri-tip, and they whiffed on the meat a bit. The potato underneath was deliciously flavored. Great location and cool vibe which are 2 of the 3 crucial ingredients you need for a successful restaurant. The 3rd is good food. I totally sympathize with restauranteurs right now because they were one of the industries to get hit the hardest by the pandemic. I also totally get that they are behind and need to catch up so they can get back on their feet so a few corners might be cut and a few cost savings here and there. This is no excuse to serve food that is dangerous to peoples health! I had the dumpling soup and I knew immediately after consuming it that it was a mistake. It took effect on my stomach instantly and I had the worst diarrhea I have ever had in my life!! The waiter even joked about them having just made a fresh batch! Making a fresh batch of soup out of old left over garbage doesn't make the soup fresh! I would possibly go back for a cocktail but I wouldn't trust the food again. We were disappointed when we made a trip to Mischief on Canal last night. It was a lovely evening, Friday night of fourth of July weekend. When we walked in for our first visit here the place looked great. There were a few people sitting around eating and drinking and we stood by the 'wait for a table sign'. A few of the wait staff looked at us and walked by then a person eventually walked over and said 'sorry we have had last call and we are closed'. As it was only 9:30, the door to the place was ajar when we walked in and I said 'your website indicates you are open until 10', her response was just to look at us and say again 'We have had last call'. Sadly our party of 4 left. If a restaurant advertises they are open until a certain time it seems like they should accommodate guests until that time, especially on a Friday night of a holiday weekend, otherwise advertise 'serving until 9'. read more
