The billboards are everywhere about this place -- on roads, ads, fliers, etc. And the pictures look really nice and modern and clean. BUT this place is anything but. We paid for the "VIP" package, which supposedly includes a "luxury" pool that gives "hydromassage," rather than your typical "balneario pool" which you can see is shared with many other people. They also claim in their ad to include "luxury entertainment" with "special relaxing music" and "luxury TV screen" (as you can see they like using the word "luxury") and some fancy "heat rooms", which are really just cheap-looking saunas. We walked down many steps that lead to this "VIP" pool and finally opened the doors to the place. What a disappointment from the moment I walked in. What we thought was gonna be some nice relaxing family time was actually a cramped, overcrowded and frankly quite dirty-looking pool day. The supposed special relaxing music was actually a youtube playlist of quite rowdy music. How do I know it was youtube? Because the music videos were playing on their "luxury" TV screen -- a projector mounted on the ceiling projecting a bland, faded image of the youtube music video. The three pools were overfilled, and more people came in during the time we were there. Do they have no control over how many can come in? How do you expect to provide quality service for so many people? Then the sauna... ugh the sauna. It's a dark, smelly room with bare concrete walls, no aromatic ambiance. The ticket for this "VIP" pass includes admission to the rest of the "balneario" (pools) all over their facilities. But what a ludicrous policy that once you step out of the VIP section to go to the other sections you can no longer come in. WHAT?! When we finally exited the VIP area, we saw that the public pools were actually less crowded than the VIP section. Here they even had some water slides that propelled you into the aguas termales. Yay! ... Not. They weren't operating. After inquiring about them, the staff responded that management shut them off because there weren't enough people there to turn them on. If we're paying a ticket price for these amenities we should get what we paid for! --- Overall a huge disappointment. Please save yourself the trouble of coming here and dealing with an overpriced smelly swimming pool. It cost us some good amount of $$ per person to learn this the hard way.

The staff at the Pug Seal on Tennyson was fantastic to get me relocated to the Pug Seal on Edgar Allan Poe just a few blocks away. I was greeted by Paula, who was incredibly thoughtful and warm, and immediately offered free beer and tequila to take the edge off a bad situation. She was wonderful and fun and charming. She speaks English exceptionally well. The hotel is wonderfully appointed. Rooms include a complimentary mini-bar, USB wall ports, TV, slippers, robe, and en-suite private bathroom with rain shower head. Tequila, fruit, and coffee are available in common areas all-day/night. Complimentary beer is also available. The hotel is beautifully decorated and has a wonderful outdoor common area and courtyard that is lit with subtle lights to create a phenomenal ambiance. Classic bellhop service makes everything a breeze, and a private car and driver is available upon request. The location is only a block off bustling Marsyk and it's high-end retail stores and fine dining with outdoor cafes.

I checked into the hotel this afternoon and a couple of hours later they texted me "from the front desk" asking me if everything was in order or if I needed anything. Then after 10 when i was getting in bed they called me from the front desk to tell me that there was a police operation and that I needed to go downstairs or give them access to my room and that I also needed to show them my passport and suitcase. When I refused and asked for an explanation they became aggressive and threatened they would enter the room by force. It was obviously a scam but they had my information, the one I entered for my checkin. I felt so uncomfortable and unsafe that I left in the middle of the night and checked into another hotel. I've traveled to Mexico so many times and never had an experience like this. Would not recommend staying here. The rooms also do not have a security lock which made me even more nervous about staying the night knowing my details have been leaked by the hotel staff and I was being targeted.
