We are getting married in Cuernavaca and had been recommending Hotel Flor de Mayo to our wedding…read moreguests because of its proximity to our venue. To make sure it was a good experience for everyone, my fiancée and I and our parents decided to stay there ourselves this past weekend.
Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The hotel was much more basic than the photos suggest. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, sheets were worn out, there was an intense perfume smell once you walk in the room, and our shower drain was clogged. After my fiancée showered, the bathroom flooded, making it impossible for me to use the shower.
What was most disappointing was the staff's response. Despite the issue occurring early in our stay, there was little sense of urgency to fix the problem or move us to another room. As a result of this and a few other problems with my parents and my financé's parents rooms, we decided to check out early and stay elsewhere.
We had paid for a three-night stay, only used one night, and requested a refund for the final night. The hotel refused, and management was neither understanding nor willing to work with us. We ultimately left early with no refund and a very poor impression of how customer concerns are handled.
To make matters worse, several of our wedding guests who had booked rooms after our recommendation contacted the hotel to cancel their reservations. They reported being met with a negative attitude from staff and that the cancellation process was unnecessarily difficult.
We understand that problems can happen at any hotel. What matters is how they are handled. Unfortunately, the lack of customer service, flexibility, and professionalism turned what should have been a simple issue into a very frustrating experience. For that reason, we can no longer recommend this hotel to our guests or others visiting Cuernavaca.
