All the teachers are college students, and our child responded well because it's not the parent teaching the child how to do the study skills. What I really like about Mathnasium is that we tell them where he's struggling, or he says where he's struggling in his school. They adjust, and it's not too easy but not too difficult so that our son still progresses at his pace, not at a very difficult or too easy level. I highly recommend this place. It's really humble, and they get prizes, and we feel like we're being taken care of.

Their middle school program offers small class sizes, field trips, sports, electives, and much more. My daughter made lots of friends and loved most of the teachers. She got good grades all throughout her middle school years and earned academic honor roll and other achievements both academically and for sports. During her 8th grade year, her class did a very memorable missions trip and went to DC. She told me that it will be a year she will never forget. The staff was great and very supportive. Mrs. E did a wonderful job in her new role as the principal. Coach Phil is a special person who was always available to the students when they need someone to talk to. He was a great coach, pe teacher, and yearbook teacher. My daughter loved coach Phil and I am so grateful for him. Mr. Shook was another favorite. He taught science and history. My daughter enjoyed him because he would always crack jokes and make everyone laugh. Mr.Shook was a great teacher, however, sometimes, I think he should keep his political opinions to himself. That was the only thing that kind of made me uncomfortable. The other thing relating to staff was the staff turnover. My daughter had a different English and math teacher every year. Which was annoying because she would build a strong relationship with them, then they left and she would have to rebuild. I understand that isn't the schools fault. But it did interfere with math and her math grade. Overall, my daughter and our family loved Valor! We highly recommend this school if you are looking for a small close-knit Christian school community. We felt safe sending her which was a big deal considering the unfortunate times that we live in. They also offer help on their homework, this helps out for those who come home later and after dinner is done it's usually close to bed time for our daughter, which gives us time to review her homework. In the Summer, she's given a jump on her lessons on what she will see next year. They also offer tutoring in a second language our daughter has been immersed in. This summer there was a field trip at El Segundo's Space Force El Segundo (formerly an Air Force Base) this gives our kids a glimpse at what may lie in their future.

We lasted less than 2 weeks at this place. After day 2, my youngest daughter was informing us that kids are playing tag in small confined class rooms and disrupting other kids while they are trying to learn. We advised the school and Ms. Monet of this incident and requested some feedback about this. We were advised they allow them to play tag in a confined learning center. We were a bit setback as this is not a playground and extremely unsafe for others. Moving forward a week, we get a call from Ms. Monet advising the kids were playing tag again and running in this confined space. They bumped into my youngest daughter. She fell and rolled her ankle. It was sprained severely. All we got from Ms. Monet was a sorry and we will talk to our Teachers. After the discussion, she quickly moved onto advising there is a field trip. First Field trip to Popeyes, second field trip to H-Mart. We spend about $2500.00 for this program not to go to Popeyes or H-Mart. We as parents can do this ourselves. We immediately pulled our Daughters out of this program and requested a refund. We were told they only do accounting 1 time per month. Even after all this, they were trying to sell us on the fact they can do 1 on 1 tutoring at their facility. We passed on that ridiculous offer as we do not feel their is a priority on safety and supervision from Ms. Monet and her Leadership for our Children. On top of this, waiting on the refund for 6.5 days (6.5 days because we had to pick up our injured daughter) of going this school on a 4 week program, we were only refunded $814.00. Steer clear of this place. Its unorganized and self centered on revenue.

A Hidden Gem of a Preschool…read more My little one spent three wonderful years at Southwood, and I truly could not be more pleased. As an educator myself, I was looking for a preschool that prioritized social interaction and the arts--and Southwood has been an affordable jackpot. The administration consists of the owner and three extremely hard-working directors. They've worked together for many years and run the school like a well-oiled machine. From Christmas and Grandparents' Day to Mother's Day, Father's Day, Halloween costume parades, and even a sweet "Graduation" ceremony, they go all out planning thoughtful, memorable events for the children and their families. Students regularly sing for their families and are treated to special experiences like puppet shows. The teachers are incredibly caring and knowledgeable about early childhood development. They consistently model how to identify feelings and guide children through managing their emotions in healthy, age-appropriate ways. Lesson plans are posted every Monday outside the classroom, and I now have two large boxes filled with my child's artwork--each piece reflecting classroom themes like colors, ecosystems, countries around the world, and famous artists. For an additional cost, children can join high-quality enrichment classes like dance, gymnastics, music, computers, and karate. We did most of them (except karate) and enjoyed every one. As my child heads off to TK, she can write every letter of the alphabet, her full name, match letters to their sounds, and is beginning to sound out words during our bedtime reading. She loves school, the friends she's made, and the teachers who have supported her every step of the way. I will deeply miss this sweet little preschool. Southwood has been a loving, supportive village, and it has laid a phenomenal foundation for my daughter's love of learning.
