It came with the best cornbread I've had outside of the United States (although I come from the UK which basically takes the opportunity to mess up cornbread every time I've had it). We started with a few starters: the Weholms Smörgåstårta (a sandwich cake with cream cheese, espelette pepper, shrimp, and roe) and their scallop crudo (with roe, jalapeno, plum vinaigrette, crispy rice, and avocado). Both of the starters were incredible. I made embarrassing/inappropriate noises as I ate them. For his entree, my husband ordered the Parmesan-gratinated Turbot with scallops, Champagne sauce, and kale. He loved it so much he almost wouldn't share it with me. But he did and it was incredible. I ordered the grilled pike-perch with lettuce, salted lemon, artichoke, panzanella dressing, dried olives, and Parmesan cheese. It was one of the best pieces of grilled fish I've ever had. I also enjoyed some wonderful Champagne by the glass. If we hadn't gotten so sunburned in the Archipelago during the day, I'd have lingered in the restaurant, had more to drink and more to eat (dessert!!!). The atmosphere has a great city vibe. Even on a Tuesday, the restaurant was quite full. Prices can go from 150-300kr a person, depending how hungry you are. Regardless of what you order, a complementary basket of breads and butter is served. The food took around 20-25 minutes from order-to-table. Judging from the food freshness, quality, taste to the attentive service and cool ambiance, Paul's has really made a strong first impression. I can't wait to go back and try other delicious dishes, because that menu has nothing I wouldn't like to eat.
