MK Special - beef patty, maple bacon, cheese, onion rings, lettuce, mayo, bbq sauce and pickle (though I didn't actually find it)
    Kat S.

I had the MK Special last night. For $14.50, it's a bit pricey but I was oh so looking forward to maple bacon and onion rings! I lined up to order (bar & food items have separate lines) which took only about 5 mins and then moved on to the bar area to get some drinks. Bartender was nice and welcoming, thanks for that as I can't stand those who think they're too cool for school! Went back to my seat and about 15 mins later, my burger & onion rings arrived. Awesomeness! The burger was absolutely yummy. And it wasn't dripping in juices so my hands stayed dry. And nope, I didn't even have to cut it in half! Maple bacon was actually maple bacon for once. The bun was sweet, which I prefer for burgers, actually. The cheese was so tasty. I did take out the onion rings though, so I can have a slightly flatter burger which is easier to eat! For the negatives, the onion rings were very bland. The menu says they've been seasoned but I probably only tasted a slight saltiness once. Plus, we could NOT get any salt shakers with actual salt in them. Went to the bar to get a new shaker but was given another one that was just full of rice (wth, how can u not have any salt). The onions inside the batter tasted like it had been soaked in room temp water & so when u bite into one, u get a crunchy batter and then a watery thick slice of onion. With no flavour :( Anyways, despite that, I'll definitely be back again, for sure!

Mac daddy with extra beef patty
    Ben S.

I heard big things about Miss Kays prior to dining here, so I was pretty excited to finally get the opportunity to sample. I was instantly drawn to the Mac Daddy burger, which had the great combination of macaroni and cheese, with fries, on the burger itself. Being easily peer pressured, I added an extra piece of beef for good measure. The burger itself didn't disappoint. It was piping hot, fresh off the grill. The beef was tasty and juicy. It was quite a delightful burger. The bun was light and delicious and the Mac and cheese ready enhanced the cheesy flavours. The fries were nice. Nothing stand out, but they served their purpose. I ordered a Puff Daddy salted caramel milkshake. That was probably the only disappointing element of the meal. It wasn't so much that it was bad, but it was no where near as good as a chur burger milkshake. But criticism aside, I came for the burger not the milk. The venue itself was quite busy. Friday evening had a decent line up to order, but we were lucky to get a seat easy enough. Good atmosphere for a burger joint, with an upstairs dining area as well. 4/5 pickles for this one 3/5 for the spuds

~~The Short~~ Burgers made with passion, and Ginger Beer with a Kick ~~The Long~~ Went here today after reading a feed in Google Now that suggested this place might be something I would like. Thanks Google: you know me too well. I judge a venue's culinary ability on how well they can construct a tower of all my favourite things and not have any one thing be overshadowed by another. Miss Kay's knows how to do this. I had the MK Special: Single beef patty, fresh onion rings (tempura batter), maple bacon (crissssppppyy), fancy lettuce, 'merkin cheese, thin slivers of pickle, sauce, all between a crusty but soft bun (it had a delightful texture, whatever it was). Barney Stinson from "How I Met Your Mother" sums up my feelings quite well about this burger. ;) My mate had the Ludacrisp burger which is a fried chicken offering with slaw and I *almost* had meal envy until I started eating the 'Special'. It really is something special. The chips were sold to us as probably enough for two, but I can honestly say these thin little Pommes in the serving size they are just didn't comfortably go between two blokes. You need a container each, otherwise there will be tears because the seasoning is something you will want to enjoy solo. We were both big boys today though and shared nicely.

    The James Brownie Milkshake

To be honest, not overly thrilled with Miss Kay's. I came here with high expectations after hearing people rave about the food. I can honestly say my boyfriends Ludakrisp burger was probably the only saving grace. Tender chicken, the right amount of slaw, and crispy bun. Winner, wish i had of ordered it.... I had the Cheeseburger, which they should seriously think of renaming "we heard you like mustard so we gave you all the mustard". The problem is I DO like mustard. I like it on my burgers, not dripping out the back so much that it causes a meat patty, pickle and cheese avalanche on to my plate. In the end i gave up and went searching for a knife and fork... felt like a bit of a tosser really sitting there with my knife and fork eating what should be a pretty tame burger. Did the boyfriend have to struggle to eat his burger you ask? Nope! I think the basic issue with the cheese burger is they have stuck to tradition and put the cheeseburger together like this: bun sauce and more sauce pickles cheese beef patty bun Now if they'd just put it so they cheese and sauce on either side of the patty I can almost guarantee they'd have a lot less slippage... keeping in mind I love making homemade burgers and have used this method, it works for those planing on trying to recreate burgers at home :) I also had the "James Brownie" Milkshake. They use chocolate flavoured syrup .... not actual chocolate. Did you hear the disappointment in that sentence. Go back read it again, with disappointment, because I could tell even before taking a sip that this was NOT chocolate. In short, I was horrified. Here I was basically begging my boyfriend to take me to Miss Kays because I'd heard so many good things and I was left wanting to go home wash the mustard off me and try and get the fake chocolate flavour out of my mouth.

My husband and I wandered into Miss Kay's hoping to find a good burger. Not only did we find a good burger, we had the best burger and fries we've both ever had. They also had our (new) Favorite cider on tap. Now I wish we had a Miss Kay's back in the states!

    Ludakrisp burger and fries.

I've been to Miss Kay's a few times and have tried the Cheeseburger, Ludakrisp and Daddy Mac. I love the Cheeseburger - it's juicy and very tasty and I don't mind getting my hands dirty/saucy (a burger is meant to be eaten with your hands). The Ludakrisp had a nice big piece of crispy chicken and slaw but thought it was a bit bland. I think it needed some salt. The Daddy Mac is pretty good but the only thing I'm not sure about is the BBQ sauce. It could do without it. The Cheeseburger is still the front runner in my books.

Once upon a time i would have thought this burger was the best but Brisbane has so many burger places poppin up its turning us into burger snobs .The burger patty was just a little too bland and the bun just seems a little too dense making it fairly tastless. The balance wasnt quite there. The service was good and the vibe was good, just had high expectations for this burger .

Bit of a flavour of Miss Kay's...

Saaaah good. Have been a few times and my fave is the MK special - meat patty, American cheese, maple bacon, pickles, mustard and an onion ring. My husband is obsessed with the MacDaddy - how can you go wrong with mac & cheese and a burger?! This place has great old school tunes on a Friday night and is fun to go to as a couple...and is equally as enjoyable on a Friday lunch with a bunch of work mates. Good, solid prices. Exposed brick & cool lighting. Rockin', relaxed atmos. If you happen to be there when someone attempts the eating challenge you get extra entertainment on the house! 9/10.

    Happy hour menu

Great burgers and cocktails. Pizza fries were amazing. Ate lunch here and came back for happy hour cocktails.

The Mac daddy and vanilla shake

I heard amazing things about this place and the reviews on Facebook sounded good so went on a Saturday for lunch. The staff were pleasant and did their job I guess but lacked personality and hospitality no one asked how our meal was?? I ordered a simple cheese burger and fries and my partner ordered the Mac daddy and a vanilla shake. (which to be fair in America they are thick shakes) came to $50. You have to pay extra for fries, drinks and sauce :/ The food came out super quick was awesome and the burger was huge and dripping with sauce so super messy but it tasted really nice !! sadly though it looked undercooked. My burger had pink inside the middle so had to eat the out side! I know they cook their burgers medium (apparently there's a sign up front) So if you like your meat patty to be brown and over cooked like me haha you might not like it! And then the milkshake ... Was really looking forward to their amazing milkshakes they looked AWESOME but taste wise .. It just tasted like flavored milk ..

Poutine burger was delicious. Fries are nicely seasoned. Burger was a little charred, but otherwise very good.

I suppose I should've been a little clearer as I'd wanted a lettuce wrap. Not a huge deal as they had plastic ware on site. I chose the bacon burger with two patties. The burgers were very juicy and grilled to perfection. The bacon could have been more crispy, but not a deal breaker. I chose the chipotle mayo which was tasty and paired well with the fries. The fries were crispy and had a flavorful seasoning on them. To round it out, I got a peanutbutter milkshake at the suggestion of the cashier; she said they were delicious. She was not wrong. The shake was awesome! The restaurant is fairly small and there's not much to talk about other than the cool wallpaper and weekly top 20 beats pumping through the stereo. Great place to get a burger and hang out.

The restaurant is very much open but manages to retain so much charm. We managed to arrive just after the lunch rush, so ordering was quick and the wait time was minimal. If you like Reese's Pieces peanut butter candy you must try the Natella Peanut Butter milkshake. A sweet infusion of chocolate and peanuts that was just too delicious. I had the New Yorker and my wife the el Diablo. The New Yorker was such an enjoyable burger, only issue was the glazed milk bun was cut on such a slope that it thinned out terribly on one side. Despite that you could really bite into the beef pattie, the salt from maple bacon, pickles and American style cheddar were held in place by the hickory BBQ sauce and freshness of the lettuce and tomato. My wife very much enjoyed her el Diablo and said she'd order it again. The staff were friendly and helpful. A very pleasant experience all round.
