The sfc burger with fries, not pictured is the second serve of fries on top of these

Broke the mould with this one! Not your typical earthy cookie cutter restaraunt in the hills, this place is a unique offering that has style and substance! I feel like there's no 'bad' seats here as whilst outside the deck was beautiful and spacious the inside was just as trendy and gorgeous. Theres a variety of great cocktails and I was really happy to see them included on the lunch menu because you know, it's 6pm somewhere in the world right!?! Haha With a firecracker of a menu mixing mexican, tapas and burgers no one goes hungry here. We ordered the broccolini with a curd and the southern fried chicken burger with a side of fries, fabulous options and not your typical burrito/taco/bean heavy menu. The food was excellent and the hint of mexican corn relish in the burger really brought it home. Coffees delivered a thick and tasty kick so claps all around. Finally, like holy wow the staff were attentive and friendly. I felt like they both really cared about our time there and while the food all arrived on time they checked what we were having to see how long it would be etc. Finally to illustrate how good this place was when my partner ordered an extra order of fries ontop of his meal he was warned that he might be stuck with too many but no, my bae does love potatoes like we're going through a famine. Stoked to see the staff don't feel the need to upsell on your meals. Overall all I can say is make some time to come up here you won't be disappointed!

Best Ribs I've had out!! It literally falls off the bone (and I hadn't really been able to say that when I've ordered ribs eating out). I've licked my fingers dry (in the most courteous possible manner that is) - because the BBQ flavoured sauce on this is extraordinary. Even though we've had to, I have not left my seat until I have written this honest review - for it is worth the admiration! Not wanting to have a sip of any kind of drink right now, for I need the Amazing TASTE to stay in my mouth for as long as possible! And oh boy! You'll forget all about the cost, for the portion is beyond any expectation you could ever have eating out. I make it a point not to exaggerate for I don't write reviews unless I'm genuinely speaking straight off the cuff!

Great food, good customer service and a nice view, I have enjoyed coming here a number of times. Their burgers are a real treat and made with quality ingredients. As a person who is becoming more conscious about their meat eating habits I was also glad to see that the meat was local. The chips that come with the burgers are your classic french fries which gained browny points with me also. The last time I had dinner here I decided to branch out from the burgers and try one of their pastas and boy was I glad. I ordered the broccoli, prawn, chilli and garlic with gnocci and it was divine. There was just the right amount of chilli and the gnocci was nice and fluffy, the only complaint I could have was the amount of prawns (there were only five in the dish). This place is worth making the trip up into the hills. I especially recommend coming here on a rainy day/night, the view out onto the rainy Stirling streets is truly magical.

Very nice spot, great decor and friendly staff. We ordered beef Ragù pasta and Perez Burger (200 gr). The pasta was nicely sauced by a bit overcooked and the Ragù needed more seasoning for sure. The burger was the signature burger of the bar. Very nice butter toasted brioche bun, nice burger patty but was over cooked although it has been emphasised it will be served medium. The burger really asks for more flavour such as pickles or maybe some English mustard. But all and all it was a pleasant experience and maybe we'll visit it some time soon.

I'm hard to please on a Friday night. I get to a point at about 4.30pm on Friday arvo when i become like a 3yo toddler that needs specific things (space from other people, a few cold beers, not work, nothing annoying) otherwise i get super grumpy and occasionally throw tantys. However, there were no tantys to be had at Miss Perez. Such a pleasing night out. The menu has changed, which i was apprehensive about when we first arrived.....but still there were no tantys. It seems the kitchen has moved to a simpler, cheaper menu but haven't compromised on flavour or quality. I, for one, can see a much clearer logic to not keeping a heap of different tapas dishes on hand (potentially leading to loads of waste!) We grazed on the potato skins, prawn and veg gyozas (fried dumplings) and an amazing jamon on scrumptious 'truffled' toasts, while we perused the main menu. Eventually we chose the trout, pirri pirri chicken, pork fillet and i had the slow cooked beef ribs. Sides of greens and grilled corn rounded out an absolutely amazing main. Everyone loved all of their meals. All well cooked and well presented. The service was bang on. Attentive but not swarming which is difficult to pull off when there are a few empty tables (which there were - not heaps, but a few). We couldn't fit in any dessert but the choices looked great. There is local wine on the list. ..and O/S choices too. If you're looking to grab a decent bite up in the hills, come check out Miss Perez. You won't be disappointed!

Well hello Miss Perez! A lovely addition to the Adelaide Hills town Stirling. There are quite a few well regarded eating establishments in this hood, and Miss Perez just took things to a whole new level. Highlights for the table: King fish ceviche, aubergine cigars with whipped feta, scallops baked in baby onions with gorgonzola (the tabled was quick to order additional serves) and truffled egg yolk raviolo. I was very happy to see some my favourites on the drinks menu - Golden Axe Cider and Maidenii vermouth mixed into delicious cocktails. Wines were a little off the mark for me, with only international on the menu. I liked to see local wines (at least one..?), with so many great wine producers in SA, not to mention in the Adelaide Hills, it might have been nice to see a few more local wines on offer. Make sure youre seated somewhere that lets you admire the amazing wall art, Miss Perez you're captivating.

    The art inside is spectacular!!

Drum roll please... If you have NEVER been to Miss Perez, then you surely MUST put it on your list for "beautiful, quirky, fun places to visit for a mini road trip by day for a sweet cafe rendezvous, especially on an Autumn Saturday - or for warmth, wine and delectable sweets by night". A rabbit warren of little rooms allows for more private catch ups with family or to contain the littler rascals into one area, or pull up a stool at one of the two long communal tables sitting beside the wall sized mural of presumably the one Miss Perez. With gas fires ready to defrost your mitts and bits after a cool run from your car to the shop, wide range of local and not-so-local wineries, a kitchen which creates foods that will tantalize your tastebuds and coffee for days, you cannot miss this place anymore! Plus, (can there really be more????!!!), the interior design is enough to make you want to purchase an old warehouse and transform it into a thing of beauty. The pendant-mason-jar-lights, the wood wall, the triangular shelves... It's my cup of cafe latte for sure!

Finally, today, when in a fit of panic over deciding how to fill our bellies with happiness and warmth, we discovered it was finally open. Not knowing where to start, we went for a burrito and chimichanga (a.k.a DEEP FRIED BURRITO), both vegetarian, and a serve of guacamole with warm corn chips. Noticing the veto stuff didn't have a surcharge is always nice and this menu is very vego friendly. Then the waiting time began. Roughly 40 mins later, our food arrived hot and fresh. It was awesome. So much better than I had anticipated. The serving sizes were generous, the filling was amazingly fresh and altogether it was tasty and light. Each also came with its own personal serve of (again, massively generous) sour cream and Guach to add to our taste! All we had to do was lavish a ton of cheese on top and then the ascent to nirvana began. We devoured it all, like lions dining on an antelope carcass. I feel full and warm with a happy Mexican belly. It wasn't greasy, fatty or carby. It was light, tasty and epically fresh. I love making my own mexican food but i knowing there's a place out there that will bring me a burrito We will definitely be back for MORE. All the carry on and hoo haa about this place I reckon is well deserved, coming here is a unique experience and there's nowhere else around quite like it. You get a little drinks card to hang onto so you can order ten dollar glasses of wine and pricey food without having to actually think about how much you're paying. Last time I came here we had fries, which come out on a wooden block with an accompanying bowl of 'aerated ketchup,' which was absolutely delicious. They appear to be fans of aeration, there are also donuts with aerated chocolate sauce, and scallops with aerated almond cream. When I went to there on a Saturday afternoon, I was lucky enough to experience their outdoor seating in the beer garden. The beer garden is located at the northern edge of the hotel/pub. There are many large trees to take shade under and a range of barrels to sit at and enjoy a drink. For the beer garden, they had a window in the main building where you could order drinks. The drinks were well priced. One thing that I found pretty cool was that there was a person collecting beer glasses from tables once people were done. He even wore a shirt that said "glassy" on it. What was even more impressive than the humour with the shirt was the fact that he could carry around 40 glasses stacked up and still open the door to go inside. Some serious talent there! Although I did not end up selecting from their exquisite snack and meal menu for the beer garden, as the event I went to was catered, I managed to have a quick browse of the menu. The meals were around $20 or so, which is pretty good and they all sounded great. I will have to try some of them, the next time I go. As for the food at the catered event, I felt it was quite innovative, favoursome and well presented. The first item I had were sundried tomato and thyme pinwheels. It was a simple bite sized appetizer however the thyme and the sundried tomato paste went well together. The flatbread that held the ingredients together was also not too loose meaning that it could easily be eaten without a plate or napkin. The second appetizer was a Brie and Quince cracker. The watercracker had a thin slice of Brie at the base followed by a small rectangular prism of quince paste. It was a very simple yet effective appetizer. It is a shame I didn't get a photo of that one before I sent it on a one-way journey to my stomach. Appetizer the third was a samosa. It was filled with diced vegetables and was served hot. For this one, I thought ahead and grabbed a napkin and waited a minute for them to cool down. The same could not be said for the other people at the table who endured went straight in and found it to be quite hot indeed. The samosa was served with what appeared to be a chive sauce. The sauce was tasty and complemented the flavor of the samosa and it's spiced vegetable contents quite well. The fourth appetizer was a prawn wrapped in a fancy tempura batter. I am not a big seafood lover however I broke of the tip of the batter and found it to be quite nice. Appetizer number 5 were sausage rolls and mini pasties. And the best part was, they looked like they were made at the hotel and not bought from a supermarket! The worst part was, they ran out by the time they got to me cause most people took two of them (a pastie and a sausage roll each). The sixth and final appetizer was a thin strip of crumbed fish served with tartare sauce. I had a nice sized piece which unfortunately broke when I dipped it in the tartare sauce, however I was fortunately able to savage it. The batter was nice and not too oily. It was well crumbed and the fish was fresh. If these appetizers are anything like the food on the menu, then I will definitely be going back. The surroundings were lovely and it was the perfect spot to spend the afternoon.

It became apparent quite quickly that it was a locals pub. As I approached the bar I looked around the room I noticed there were about five people in the building, this was at the back bar, which was well equipt with TAB facilities and poker machines. The bar was unattended, and after waiting a moment a group of 3 (incidentally representing exactly 50% of the bar population at that time) also approached the bar. After waiting for a while the barman appeared, he immediately served the group of three. I thought to myself "fair enough, they do represent 50% of the bar population it is only fair that they be served first." The group of three were an indecisive bunch, and they happened to be ordering meals. The female of the group ordered and reordered several times, both with respect to her food and to her drink. One of the males of the group was very fussy as to how his food was to be prepared, and spent some time giving directions to the barman in this regard. Upon making arrangements for payment the group had a lengthy discussion as to who should be so fortunate as to pay for the meal which carried on for some time. I was supposed to be meeting some people at the gallery in about half an hour, although slightly perturbed, I realized I still had time and so waited patiently. Finally the indecisions of the three were drawing to a close. They had finally resolved that the bill be split over several credit cards, two in the instance of one of the group members who required it to be so for tax purposes, don't ask me why, and proportionally divided on the basis of a complex algorithm beyond my comprehension. As the poor barman attended to this matter at the till I checked my watch and decided I still had plenty of time and that I was getting all agitated without purpose. He would shortly be back to attend to my order and all would be well. However, during the course of all this conundrum one of the remaining two members of the bar population (excluding myself), a solitary male, had snuck up behind me to the bar of the pokie lounge. As the barman trundled past he cried out with a familiar tone "Mike," or some other such name that a barman might possess, "can you get me another beer." Of course, with such familiarity and audaciousness this man was sure to be served in my stead, he was a local through and through, he practically lived there, he and the barman were on a first name basis. I checked my watch again and noted there was still time, I would certainly be served next so I should just calm down, stop clenching my fists, allow my knuckles to retain their natural color and relax. The barman went to pull the beer for the familiar and audacious man, but no beer did flow from the tap. The barman looked up and said "Barry" or some other such name that a familiar and audacious patron might possess. "I'm going to have to go change the Keg." By now my plan to arrive to the gallery slightly intoxicated and fashionably late was going awry, and I was in a position where I would most likely be arriving either unfashionably tardy, or unfashionably on time, and in either instance majorly agitated. After a moment's consideration I decided the former was more fashionable than the latter and decided to press on. After some time the Barman returned from changing the keg, and after reassuring me that he would be with me promptly be with me, he proceeded to pour the beer for the familiar and audacious man. And then just as he was about to serve me, a little granny came up and asked if he could provide her with some particular details with respect to the hamper raffle .... Whilst slightly of longer wind than I originally intended this is a fairly true account (although slightly exaggerated in places) of my recent experience at the Royal Hotel. I did end up getting my beer (through sheer grit and determination) however, I had barely drunk a sip before I was receiving calls as to my whereabouts and I was forced to leave a practically full beer on the table. Although the events described were certainly beyond the controls of both the bar staff and the owners of the venue, I got the impression that the Royal was designed for those who like to take things slow, who are in for the long hall and not for those popping in for a quick drink, quick being the operative word. My words of wisdom, if you are ever in circumstances such as mine, I would go to the Tap Inn instead.
