Just thinking about doing therapy, freaked me out. I could handle everything that came my way, I was perfectly fine holding everything in. That was until I met Alycia Wood. She changed my whole opinion on therapy. At first, I had the largest wall possible, built up and I didn't want help breaking it down but she made me feel so safe and comfortable talking to her. Things that I didn't even realize I was going through, that were causing me so much anxiety, she helped me understand them. Before her, I was suffering with major anxiety attacks, daily, causing me to get little to no sleep. She helped me process things I didn't know, needed processing, which has allowed to manage my anxiety. To this day, she still continues to help me work on my inner struggles. Literally, just trying to get a refill of life saving medication and I've been hung up on 3 times. You just sit on hold and then a woman's voice comes on and you think you're gonna talk to someone and it hangs up. I called my pharmacy to request the refill and the pharmacy refused. They stated, Mission Community Network leaves you on hold, takes for ever to receive and response and further more it could take up to a week for them to send in the refill to be filled. This is our American Health system. My doctor is Neil Chatterjee and I have reported this business to Aetna to take off the list of providers. It should not be this hard. read more

I have been mulling over getting a therapist. Alycia Wood was recommended! She has seriously been helping me through the toughest times in my life. She teaches me different methods I never knew about. She helps me open up whereas I held onto issues before. I've been understanding myself so much more than before because of her. That's my personal change and she's so incredible that when I try to thank her for helping me through these sessions, she says "it's all you!" She is one of the most genuine people I know! I needed to get a long-overdue eye exam and had a very good experience. Luis, the Optical Technician, was an example of what quality patient care is all about. He was very knowledgeable, very patient and very thorough. He took the time to explain my options for new glasses, the costs for any extras and then double checked his measurements with the optometrist. Considering how customer care these days is usually generic or worse, Luis' dedication and care really stands out. Also, I've since been back to drop off frames and he was just as careful, thorough and pleasant to work with - so I clearly didn't just catch him on a good day. The bottom line is that he actually cares about what he does and that's getting harder to find. Deep respect for Luis. Mission City, in general, does a pretty good job at delivering basic healthcare for low-income patients. It's not perfect by any means (I've got my complaints) but I've been going there for several years and it provides vital care for an under-served part of the community. And like most low-income healthcare providers, it's trying to do it under very difficult circumstances. I'm grateful for what they do and the services they've given me - even when I get annoyed by the down-sides. read more

Being as this is MCCN's main location, I also wanted to post my review for their Hollywood location here (because my psychiatrist does operate at multiple locations). Mission City Community Network has been my mental healthcare provider for almost a year now and I wanted to provide feedback on their excellent care. Firstly, I'm NEVER kept waiting more than 5 minutes for any appointments. Typically, within 5 minutes of checking in, I'm either called to assess vitals before seeing my psychiatrist, Joanna, or in to see my therapist, Marilu. I see Marilu Sanchez regularly for therapy and she is by far the best therapist I've ever had! She's understanding, great at listening and an actual HUMAN BEING--meaning, she's not just a rock that you talk to, she actually talks back! :) Lol. She's got a great personality and it's been a pleasure getting to see her every few weeks. Joanna Reyes is my psychiatrist and although I only get to see her via TeleHealth (computerized webcam software that allows her to see patients from multiple MCCN - Mission City Community Network locations), she has been an incredible help to me, finding the right medication and appropriate amount to treat my mental health issues. She always greets me with a smile and asks how I'm doing, about the holidays/plans for the week, etc. She's not just some psychiatrist that doles out prescriptions based on advisement from their networked therapist, she actually creates conversation and advises accordingly. Sometimes I have scheduling conflicts and cancelling appointments isn't difficult. The receptionists who reschedule my appointments communicate with my psychiatrist/therapist-psychologist and let them know so they can adjust accordingly. It's nice being a patient at a network that actually communicates internally rather than me having to remember to call everyone involved individually and repeat myself. The nurses that assess my vitals before seeing Joanna are usually very sweet and conversational. The office receptionists are always polite and remember my name. There's even one receptionist that has the same birthday as I do and she knows my voice even when I call the office to schedule an appointment. It's awesome having a fellow birthday-buddy. :-) read more

Haven't been to the doctor for almost a couple of months, been having some back pain recently so I wanted to talk to my doctor about it. I don't know if it's the workers, or what but they definitely lack communication with their patients. Never did I get a call about my appointment reminder, never did I get a call about switching my location of my appointment in a Sepulveda, never did they take the time to call me. Not only that but they made me reschedule twice, and I had to wait more than 2 months just to see a doctor. This place is horrible. So unprofessional. Going to start looking at other clinics, sucks because this one is literally across the street but this place is terrible. I can't. Don't waste your time here. read more

I've been coming here even before all of the changes. It's always busy and crowded. The receptionists are usually not too friendly and the doctors are not thorough. The last time I went I waited 90 mins with an appointment and no one in the waiting room the whole time. Once I got in, the female doctor was extremely rude giving me attitude the entire time! She pretty much was calling me a liar. After, she left the room without saying anything so I asked the front desk if I was to wait for my results. They went to ask her and she said yes. I waited an hour for results that take 5 mins and nothing. When I asked to see her they said she had gone home and I never got my results or prescription. read more

The clinic and doctors are not that bad. Even though I've told the concerns about my kid's mis-shapen head shape, she just tells we'll see on his next physical when it has to be treated within a certain time period. I never had a bad experience at this location all Dr my daughter had at this location were very helpful until i came across Dr. Mendel worst pediatrician ever. You see my daughter is diagnosed with severe autism dmv stated since she is autistic she qualifies for an handicap placard since she is unaware of dangers of her surroundings and she usually has bad tantrums which make it hard for us to park far. Well we made an appt for Dr. Mendel to fill out the handicap application for my daughter she refused to fill out the form stating autistic kids don't qualify for them to get the handicap since she is not the one driving. Which i was informed by the dmv that either way my daughter in fact can get the placard even tho she is not the one driving for logic reasons so as long as she is in the car its ok to use. The Dr refused again to sign and then said handicap its for people that are not mobile and not for autistic kids As far as i know handicap is for people with disabilities and i also have family members which are kids with autism and have a handicap placard also due for being autistic. My daughter had a test done and i have yet to receive the results which should have been ready with in a couple hours, it has been 3 days. They have the worst customer service. The OB is great but the MA Mireida Espinoza has to go! She is rude, mean and demeaning. I thought she was least an advanced practice nurse because when I call she always answers for the doctor and refuses to allow me to talk to him directly. She does not even relay messages to him. If she wants to diagnose and fill out paperwork as if she is a provider she should go back to school so she can do these things legally. Stop giving her so much power to do whatever she wants. Patients do not deserve to be treated like they are not worthy of the respect they deserve. No healthcare professional should have a problem being courteous and treating patients with dignity. I brought my son to this office because it's where my insurance said I could go. Not by choice. First of all, the building was surrounded by anti abortion protestors yelling at people, presuming they're there to abort their child, in a building full of various offices. That set the tone. Then the building feels like it's going to fall apart as you walk through it. But the worst of all is that Ezra was so completely rude, condescending, and completely out of line in his bedside manner. My son has gone through extensive testing at a psychologist office and has been diagnosed ADHD, but psychologists can not prescribe medication to help him with his attention deficit, so we needed to go to a psychiatrist for that. This arrogant man, Ezra, proceeded to tell me that my son "just needed to pay attention", and that he obviously had bad grades because of an attitude problem. I assure you, that my son has NEVER had ANY problems with ANY of his teachers for having a bad attitude!!! He has received awards each year for his citizenship and integrity. I have no idea how this man is able to practice with such a disregard for his patients right off the bat. I have even filed a complaint to our insurance company about this terrible experience. read more

The waiting area and the children's play area are dirty. The dental office is unsanitary. There broken xray machines in the floor. The dental assistant wore gloves to perform xray for my daughter. But at the same time he touches the instrument, computer, wires, and put the instrument in my daughters mouth whils wearing his dirty gloves. The wait is long. I waited for about 20-45 minutes to be called but that's not the reason why I gave this place a 1 star. This is terrible place to visit. They didn't have the shots I needed to get it done that day and they apologize for not having it ready. So I have to wait and it's been more than a week and I should've been called within 48 hours. I was diagnosed with EarBarotrauma through a doctor in the ER. He advised me to go see my primary care doctor so that they can refer me to an ENT. I was seen at Mission City Community Network by Nurse Practitioner, Adriana Cobian, who seemed in a hurry to get me out. She began by asking me questions regarding my symptoms, and would not let me complete my answers. At one point of the appointment, I told her "Please let me finish answering the question you asked me". She laughed, dismissing my remark and said that she would refer me to an ENT. Honestly, the Medical Assistant was more concerned and helpful than Mrs. Cobian. I called MCCN today to check the status of my referral and I was informed that Mrs. Cobian referred me to an audiologist instead of an ENT. I do not need an audiologist! I'm frustrated to say the least. read more

The worst experience of my life. Good luck trying to see your Dr. or speaking to him/her in an emergency. The front desk staff are the absolute worst people I have ever dealt with. The woman who answers the phone will hang up on you or just not pick up and then tell you that they were on lunch (at anytime of the day, several times a day).
